1. I'd look at the Line6 UX-2. I've had mine for a few years now and it's been rock solid on PC and Mac. Line6 always keep the drivers bang up to date via the Line6 Monkey updater app (as you'd expect) and there's the advantage of the excellent modelling software called GearBox. Huge tweakery....
Silly question maybe - but couldn't you have just turned the grille around? I doubt it had a W both sides
Not with my 6x10 Warwick as the grill was curved around top and bottom in order to fit into the recess of the cab.

+1 Looks great. I had a Warwick 6x10 for a while and did the same. Bish bash bosh, bit of hammerite on the grill and it looked 100000 times better. Bye bye big f'ugly W.
  4.
Ha, that looks huge! I bet the flight case weighs a ton!
It's not that heavy, it's portable and most importantly, is bullet proof protection for the gear. I've got an 2u that I could use if I wanted lighter as I don't really NEED the wireless and tuner when going "au-natural". However, it's convenience. All the cables and speaker leads pack away into the back. Makes the setup and pack down pretty simple. Really want a second Zoot cab though.

  6. Here's my mini-rig. Although with the 4u rack, it's not quite as mini as it could be. The 4u contains my EBS HD-350 with my tuner and Sennheiser wireless. The cab is a 4 Ohm Zoot 112NT. Love the cab and sounds great but to be honest, I've never used it live, only at rehearsal. Need to take the leap of faith and go for it at a gig. Thought about getting a second 112NT at some point. Perhaps the extra volume from the second cab would allow me to gig with it. T
  7. Is it socially acceptable to bump gigs?
  8. Those look flipping marvellous! Love the Justice (although not too sure on the lipstick tube pickups) and the Mercalli 5-FM looks fabulous. The DubKing reminds me of Feeder's Taka Hirose's basses. Only without the gold sparkle! There's an 'international' dealers page on the site, link below. 9.
Hi guys, I'm playing a 300w valve head(V6) through a 4x10 cab(EBS Classic Line) rated at 4 Ohms. The Trace head is switchable between 4 and 2 Ohms. Ideally I want to extend the set up with 12x2 0r a 1x15 at 4 Ohms (maybe even a 10x2). EBS dont do a Classic Line 12 or 15 at 4 Ohms so I might have to change brand/make completely. My first choice would be Trace but I can''t find any 12'' or 15'' stuff rated at 4 Ohms. Any ideas? for a 10x4 + (12x2 or 15x1) all cabs rated at 4 Ohms. Weight and price (within reasonable limits) are of no concern. Space however is, there's only so much you can fit into a Fiat Punto By blocriffnut at 2011-04-15
What about 2 Barefaced Super Twelve Ts? Light, smallish and run at 4 Ohm thus giving you the minimum 2 Ohms. Expensive but total DOOM.
  10. Hi All, Are there any Midlands BC'ers out there who fancy doing a couple of dep gigs at the end of the month? I was supposed to be doing them for my mate's covers band but we've got a serious illness in the family (my wife's mum is going into hospital next week and having a big op for kidney cancer) and it may mean I may have to be around at home to baby sit and hold the fort whilst she's away from home. Therefore, I've decided rather than say yes now and then have to pull out days before, it's sensible to get someone in for them for these two gigs. Re the gigs, one's a wedding on the 29th up in Burton-On-Trent and then a pub gig in Bromsgrove on the 30th. Ideally, the fellas would probably appreciate a practice or two before hand if you can make it. Usual covers band thing. The set consists of two one hour sets comprising of approximately 25-30 songs. The music is alternative / indie and consists of varied material along the lines of KOL, Oasis, Stones, Primal Scream, The Killers, Supergrass etc. If you're interested, PM me ASAP and I'll put you in touch with the lads. Cheers T
  11.
They should include the rules and regulations of baseball in case you ever give up playing bass and want to use the neck for something else
BOOOOM-TISH! Here all week...
  12. An absolute monster player is our Bobby. A right dazzler with a pick!
  13.
While this thread is still getting a huge audience, can I mention my mint vintage sunburst '62 P is up for sale. A beauty or what?
If it had 7 more strings, I'd have it like a shot...
  14.
Which one was the bassoon player then?
Albert Le Bon. Simon's grandad. Or did he play the spoons?
  15.
Westone.info was a great site for information about Westone's range of guitars and basses. Including pretty much all the catalogues and a section for spares. I used to like going on there and just looking at the Thunder II's and III's as well as getting useful info. for years etc when I was buying. Can't believe I'm saying WAS!
Had a Westone Thunder II as one of my first basses. It was a fretless. Loved it. Still got pictures of it somewhere which I came across a few weeks ago. Should dig them out. Sign of the times :-(
  16.
.....Westone.info has shut down!
Eh? What was westone.info? Westone as in 1970's and 1980's budget instruments?
  17. +1 Run like the clappers. Far away. There's plenty of other bands out there. Unfortunately, with some tribute bands, being "busy" isn't necessarily the same as being "good" or being "rewarding". Besides which, they'll be blowing smoke up the ars* of anyone who's applying to be the new bassist. Manager?! Huh. Yeah, right. T
  18. I found that with my Line 6 Bass POD XT Live. It sounded fantastic when recording, through headphones or at practice levels but I needed to do a lot of tweaking with the patches and input levels when using it live. In the end, I realised all of my live patches were sans amp modelling and contained effects only as I was really happy with the sound of my amp and didn't want amp/cab modelling. This led me to get rid of the XT Live and get a Line6 M13 StompBox Modeller which has true bypass and ONLY gives me effects modelling. Totally chuffed with it. T
  19.
Not looking to re-start old arguments from old topics, but the only way (IMHO) that you'll ever know how a rig sounds when you gig it with your own band is ... erm ... to gig it with your own band. I know that not everyone agrees with this, but I just don't see how noodling on solo bass in a shop or a friend's garage is ever going to tell you how you'll sound in a packed pub competing with a mad drummer and two guitarists going through Marshal 412s. There are plenty of Basschatters in Essex. Have you considered borrowing (or even renting) rigs from others to see how they sound? I lent my Barefaced Big One to four people, and my Orange Bass Terror to three (all of whom went out and bought one ). Not everyone likes to lend their kit, but you may get lucky.
That's a great idea HJ. I'm in a similiar position where I need to downsize my EBS rig over the next couple of months. I'm looking at the Barefaced cabs and the Streamliner/TC Classic 450 or Bass Terror but really need to hear the Super Twelve T in action before I'd be happy pulling the trigger. As I've not been able to get to any bass bashes recently, it'd be brilliant if someone had a Barefaced of some sort (if not a Super Twelve, perhaps a Compact or Big One) in the West Midlands for me to try out in exchange for alcohol/coffee/cream cakes etc T
  20.
This seems to be quite loud :-) RH450 with 2 x EBS Proline 410's.. Although perhaps I've not quite grasped the lightweight side of things :-) Reminds me of the mouse/elephant sha**ing joke... :-0
DOOM! lol Bit confused though. What's the minimum impedence on the RH450? Is it 4 or 2 Ohms? The reason I ask is that the EBS Prolines I've got are both 4 Ohms because the EBS heads go down to a minimum 2 Ohm load. Cheers T
  21.
How loud are these?
The HD350 is rated at 350w down to 2 ohms. I've never felt I've had to push mine over the years, despite playing in a few pretty leary guitar bands. It's a SERIOUSLY loud amp and I think the 350w rating is somewhat conservative (although it could also be the efficiency of the Proline cabs). Regarding the cabs, having used mine with the EBS Prolines as well as Ampeg, Warwick and Zoot cabs, I personally think the Prolines are a sizable part of the "EBS sound". I mean the amp's a monster but when used with the cabs, it's a big scary monster! Bump for a bargain rig...! T
  22.
Thanks! Here's a pic of the "guts" - looks very neat and tidy in there!
I feel suitably ashamed as it's WAY neater than my Euro 4LX. I've swapped out the stock Tonepump for an EMG BTS system and wired it to run at 18v. Sounds SOOOOOOOO better now, the extra headroom really makes a difference and having cut AND boost on the tone controls feels better to me. However, the extra wiring and additional battery has made the control cavity a little more cramped. T
  23. Wow, absolutely killer looking Spector! Bet it sounds just as good. Enjoy!
  24. WOW. Hubba hubba! I've got a Red Plum one just like it which I truly ADORE. In fact, given half a chance, I'd probably love another....is it sale only or you looking at trades? T
