i really liked Making Music, I guess it folded a long time ago. Is this the online BGM? I've never seen it on shelves. I'd rather buy a UK mag than one of the US ones

Like golchen I'm still near base 1. I'm working on fixing my timing (ie placing notes correctly over each beat) I don't seem to have a problem with pitch, I can find notes with my eyes shut , just rhythm. Too much concentrating on what point the notes occur at and too little on whether the metronome has gone past that point already.. Reading is a different matter, I'm reading ed friedlands's Bass Grooves - I can read around stuff and learn it intellectually till the cows come home but thatisnt likely to help me here

I have the est95 active and its nice to play - probably better out there for the money tho

well done to BB for organising it all, i was really interested to try so many instruments I've not tried before such as the upright Stagg DB and also the black Rick (Kev's? thanks anyway), and Prosebass's custom bass which was amazingly comfortable. We should do it again, and I might bring an amp with me this time. Good choice of venue

I think its actually in the strings -I got a jazz that had 40-95s, and it slapped much better than my ray with 40-105s. Then I replaced the strings on the Ray and made them the same as the jazz to make life easier for myself and foudn that the Ray it slapped just as well.

An adam clayton sig bass would just be a standard maple jazz as far as I can see; that's all I have seen him play recently. I think jpj just played a standard 62 3sb r/w jazz as far as I can recall; I think I read somewhere that he still has it

I'm just learning still, I'm wondering if anyone knows a learning guitarist, or learning drummer that I can practice with? Probably a question I should ask at the bass bash actually, but its in my head now. thanks

yes, learn to read the notes too. Tabs are useful for confidence, but they can be wrong, or show you a fingering which is not the true one used in the recording, or even the most efficient. I learned notation; it isnt that hard. nice looking bass though, good choice.

pasta salad? cheap and filling. Some bread perhaps.

I'm happy with £4, especially if there are some nibbles too.
