1. Dealt very satsfactorily with mike, happy to do so again
2. Sadly that domain is well and truly parked
3. A while ago there was a guy called wes on here who made a copy of a 62 in white/tort - in Essex I think Anyone know his details, or roughly what a replica maybe slightly reliced copy of a 73 might cost ?
4. Very smooth transaction so happy
5. Royal Mail managed to completely fghk a bass I sent heavily packed in multiple layers of rigid foam blocks and bubble wrap and cardboard and then they refused all liability .
6. Duly corrected, there would have to be an attempt to import or distribute the item itself, or an item containing it into the US My point about laxity is still there though, I believe.
7. Well, they must have submitted some evidence but obviously you can't expect a civil servant to be expert in all areas that come up when reviewing patent applications. The US PATENT office is chronically underfunded.
8.
Thanks. Yes and no. It's a complicated point both in terms of physics AND patent law, and so not black and white by any stretch. In any case it doesn't matter. From a quick search you can see they ONLY have a US patent granted, so anyone anywhere else in the world can make it and not infringe, regardless of whether the patent is sound.
Not quite true, they can sue you for infringement and you'd have to defend yourself in a US court. Whether they can afford to take action, or would bother, is another question I did this for my dissertation in my law degree. Also US patents are famously lax in their view of prior art and also the kind of things that can be patented - see diamond v chakrabarty for instance
9. Mine was a Paul rose, and with thru stringing He warned me the string tension wouldn't be up to much, and was right
10. I had no issues at all with fanned frets so don't be put off
11. I tried a low b on a shortie and it was simply too floppy to use.
12. On its way to myke
13. Very pretty indeed
14. Nice It's like the p bass twin of my jazz
15. Bump - if this is over priced in your opinion then make me a sensible offer
16. Well, it was only a flesh wound
17. It should calm down if you put ice on it. You could also try ibuprofen gel which has anti-inflammation benefits
18. Just a thought - try restringing with lighter strings (like 45-95) to reduce string tension- it will be make it easier to fret notes cleanly. Once you've cracked it, you can go back up to "normal" gauges
19. Try looking for finger stretching exercises on the net, and warm up with them It does take time and practice - How much is up to you
20. Generic high mass bridge which is a drop in replacement for fender basses. Comes with screws, but they were smaller than the OE screws so I reused the OE ones . £22.50 posted please
