1. If you get the right drill you might not even need glue. No harm In it though. I can confirm dowels are a cheap easy and effective solution . Just be sure to cut them off level (chisel) and sand it smooth if it isn't already smooth to the touch Put a piece of masking tape round the drill at the correct depth to avoid going too far through the neck.
2.
Mine is too, as far as I'm aware it's exactly as it was new (US 2006)
It used to hum loudly but took about an hour to solve
3. No reason for a jazz bass to hum either. Mine is absolutely silent due to copper shielding and slight changes to wiring.
4. It needs tort ....
5. pretty! (although insufficicent Tort present)
6. I walked past Chris Bryant's and it seemed to be working Went to wunjos and didn't realise that bass was a separate shop. Doh . People nice in there so pleasantly surprised after some past surliness

12. Has a subtle figured wood top, quite pleased with it, it MAY be a keeper It's very dark grey - has four knobs, two with centre detents. Anyone got any tips on identifying the model. ? It's made in Korea
13. TBH I always thought expensive was better until recently. The bass doc built me a P out of fairly random Jap parts and spent a lot of time on the set up using my preferred gauge of strings. The result was a world away from even a USA P that I thought was pretty good up to that point. It practically plays itself. I think the moral is that component quality/build quality can have a nixing factor where its bad but provided its even barely reasonable (ie not a bent neck, fairly even frets) it should be possible to transform any bass into a nice and comfortable experience.
14. As with discreet I only really play my bass doc built 74 precision replica. Lots of people mistake it for the real thing with the nitro paint and tinted varnish. I only wish I had had it reliced as I don't get the time to play the wear into it
15. I have an American special jazz and it's as good as any American standard I've played. I would placey bass-doc built p bass ( from jap parts) on a level above both
16. Could we have the "follow/unfollow topic" buttons shown on the mobile version please ?
17. I bought an issue recently. (October so probably sept issue) on way to Disneyland Paris and it was good, if somewhat expensive read.

19. Ah yes - string thru - Hadn't spotted that although I'm not convinced it makes much difference Yes it does help, thanks both
20. Hi can some kind soul tell me if the Special is worth the extra ? 2013 model. Cant see a lot of difference in the specs. I thought graphite rods were nornal in American standards these days along with custom shop pickups ? thanks
21.
Right folks, last price drop to £580. I'd rather keep it that let it go for any less than that.
Very fair price, have a free bump
22. He was a very fair dealer with me. I seem to recall him saying that the red/white/rosewood precision bass shown used to belong to Musical Youth
23. SOLD to a man from Warwickshire for cash
