1. I dont know if Jerry will read this, perhaps he could comment. I actually like this from the outset and particularly the description of his time with Elvis. I really enjoyed his description of his childhood and found his description of the musical interaction in his first gig absolutely rivetting (although I'm not quite sure the word "motherf_____", used by the bartender to a very underage Jerry was common currency in the 50s, perhaps it was). Also very interesting was his discussion of how he came to a moment of epiphany about drugs after what seems like fairly enthusiastic consumption. I also enjoyed his outlook on John Denver and his descent from Country music shining star to a very waning star and how John handled it, or perhaps didnt. I dont think this was meant to be a bass geek book, and it isnt. It is however an enjoyable window into a working musicians life. There are dry bits, but there are enough juicy bits to lubricate them.
2. Sure , but its simple enough for those of us who are a little less practiced to achieve and still think. "That sounded pretty good" . I record my playalongs to see how I did Like I said, you gotta start somewhere, and if mAkes you listen to the drums to make sure you're in time
3.
As hobbayne says about New Years Day. With or without you is a perfect example of a pop rock song that is perfect for live gigging. THAT bass line just forces girls to sway. I wish our lot would do the damn song.
It's simple stuff but I love playing along to it, ditto all along the watchtower live version off rattle and hum
4. I totally sympathise with the OP. I think AC does what's simple, effective and tasteful . If you listen to Please, or the Three Sunrises he can do more complex stuff and he can do melodic stuff like Bad. I like playing along to their All along the watchtower or Pride. You gotta start somewhere
5. can I ask what your location is ? I'd give £12 for the mags but I dont have the extra £8 for postage.
6. Happy to sell to NotttsWarwick, but a meantime *bump* - will consider sensible offers
7. And replied Nottswarwick - please advise what your plans are ? Thanks
8. I was a bit underwhelmed by it, to agree with the OP
9. Copy the list above and repost it, adding yourself, is my advice
10. Finished - Although highly detailed, I was left a little unimpressed by his style. Fans will probably overlook this though. PMing Jimbothy 1. Jimbothy 2. Paul JH
11. He did PM me - just finished JACO, part way through Jerry Schef lets start a list here 1. Jezzaboy PLease post an updated list if you want to be next
12.
As a seller you can't leave negative feedback. It's been like that for a while now.
Yes although you can write "beware" in capital letters, and report the buyer to eBay and block them That's about it, very skewed playing field
13.
Yeah, that's what I thought, but I think Geek99 was meaning the OP was in danger of a slagging off the buyer for not completing, or at least that was my interpretation.
Yup, exactly my buyer didnt pay for six days then ignored all communications. Only paid when i, under eBay advice, asked to cancel so I could second chance. They refused. I sold the item to a friend, the non paying buyer was still able to neg me and eBay did nothing. They always protect the buyer except perhaps in the most extreme cases - they literally get away with murder Have been on the receiving end of a lot of sour grapes feedback, so always talk to eBay and always use the "report buyer" option . My feedback % is totally f£&ked thru no fault of my own Beware
14. As i recall in my law degree, you made the terms of sale clear, you won't ship, he insists you ship. The sale cannot be performed. However Talk to eBay to cover yourself as he may give you neg feedback out of spite. It happened to me and eBay will not remove it.
15. True, but they are not expensive . You should treat yourself
16. Thanks - wish someone with the money to spare thought the same
