1. Sorry to be picky, but surely this is better described as a squier rather than a fender ? Nice though
2. Yes you're right - ed does say that. I'll look up the clown page and give you a reference - I only read it a couple of nights ago
3. @pobrien_ie Possibly the recorded version is Babbitt, doesnt mean that the book is wrong about Jamerson doing lots of takes. Smokey and Norman, Whitfield were such control freaks that hey may have put a Babbitt track on after jamerson did those takes because they didnt like what he did.. He did have a free hand but he did also have a serious temper and the drink didnt help it. Babbitt said he went to question the residuals he was getting and found contracts for tracks that he knew he had played on, but made out to other people, so I dont think even the players themselves know for certain. The residuals wer paid on the basis of these contracts, many of which were written out after the fact. They were known as "mock contracts"
4. Not quite - read "standing in the shadows of Motown" Babbitt himself said that people's work was often replaced after they thought they were finished and had left. Read what he say bout mock contracts and getting paid Babbitt tells a story of listening to a jukebox and arguing with Jamerson about who was playing the bassline
5. Apparently he had to do about 60 takes of years of a clown, in order to satisfy the producers
6. I have the hydrive 210 combo and its excellent in every way. Only thing i would add is a headphone socket. The strings are cheap and cheerful and they work well enough
7.
I am going to buy an acoustic gu**ar and learn all the songs from my youth etc i am even going to take lessons. Cheers Paul.
Ugh - he's joined the dark side. Acoustic is ok for rattling along with people, but its not a bass is it

20. Squier VMP in white (06) with RW neck. All original parts available and included,.Made by Cort in Indonesia. Has tort plate fitted as shown, the original black item is included. Original Seymour duncan pickups. It sounds lovely. Unmarked except for a tiny dink, painted over, on the upper bout and shown in closeup photo.Approx 4mm long by 2mm wide and barely visible from more than a foot away, I had to look hard for it to take the picture and you can see from the scale of the photo just how close I had to get to capture it. I think this is worth £150 plus 24 hour signed shipping at cost (10 pounds). You could arrange your own courier or collect. Its in the mansfield area in nottinghamshire, just off J28 of the M1. You are welcome to come by and try it.
