1. Yes he is a bit skint I hear
2. If they bought out a sunburst precision with tort and a jazz maple neck and a really good heavy relic I might be tempted (at a decent price) Mike dirnt sells loads at a low price point
3. No it's probably just ego
4.
The chap on guitar spent most of the time with his back to everyone else farting around with a multitude of pedals. This approach appeared to work rather well.
Quite normal I hear Local OM is run by church so not quite the scam Blue describes luckily, and I am "the only bass player in this village" so I just have to get a slot I can stay late for They gave me 10:10 last time which is a non starter due to home commitments
5. Good call I might give it a try
6.
It always seems to be in the city WH Smiths when I don't want it, but never in the airport ones when I want one
Medium sized WHS have it and I even found it at Euro tunnel terminal
7. They're much of a muchness imho If you get on with what you have, stick with it
8. I was responding after http://basschat.co.uk/user/32123-dfl3tch3r/ who responded earlier? Mr "cynical didn't read the thread properly before being sarcastic"
9.
So its like shimming a neck but you don't have to take the neck off?
Yes - a bolt bears on a metal plate in the neck heel to push it out
10. You need to consider revoicing parts too- if you keep shifting up the board you run out of bassy notes eventually
11.
Thanks for the positive comments, Geoff. In case anyone was wondering, they were bass magazines.........
He keeps the goat fetish ones under lock and key... smooth and easy transaction for a bass trainer, good communication. Would happily deal again.
12.
Can't help you regarding the authenticity of your bass but plain old white spirit is fantastic at removing sticker goo. Fine on plastic.
Wd40 might be kinder
13.
I think the reason that Adam Clayton's many and varied signature basses are so widely ridiculed is that none of them are what could actually be described as his signature model i.e. synonymous with the player in the way that say a black P with mirrored pickguard would be associated with Phil Lynott. His basses are signature models only in the sense that his signature is printed on them. It seems to be a case of whenever he happens to get a new bass then the manufacturer - whoever that may be - puts his name on the headstock to shift a few extra units at a premium regardless of whether he will ever actually be seen playing live or in the studio with it. Right, I'm of to scribble my name onto my Fender Jazz that I bought a few months ago despite having played Warwicks exclusively for the previous 10 years
To be fair I've seen him play the last two live
14. Why have just one ? They're not expensive A fender strap (the fabric/leather ones that come OE) for each regardless of make, I don't change height that I play at so it doesn't matter that the brands differ Like seashell I just can't be bothered to swap them about
15. Nice red tort there
16. Victorwooten has had a few also, as has flea I suspect part of it is ego, it must be quite flattering I do think it's a touch overpriced though !
17. Every one I've had, especially recent ones, has been well made.
18. Welcome I believe basschat member faithless is also a Lithuanian ?
19.
Look, look everyone..... it's one of them........ let's vent ALL our frustration on this one!
He's getting better now - leave him alone he may make a full recovery
20. I'd like it, I just don't need one that's so big
21. Nice Heading for extreme battered with fake grain filler applied after
22.
Love the tone on The Jackson 5 "I want you back" - the whole riff feels sooo perfect.. "I refuse" - Hue & Cry Stanley Clarke - "We supply" Virtually everything by Ozric Tentacles What Mick Karn did everytime he picked up a bass
Telecaster bass in the first case, Wilton felder I really like the late rutger gunnarson's tone
23. Chain and seven nation army perchance ?
24.
Nope. When I learned it, it was played up the dusty end starting on the 17th so it's easy to play the one open A at the end of the 1st bar & the open E at the end of the 3rd.
Ok was basing this on concert footage where he uses a and d but its up to you really
