  1. He does books on every conceivable subject bass-wise and he gives really good examples. He was apparently a guitard once but chose instead the righteous path of bass
  2. Can I recommend Ed Friedland books to you @Harryb0201 he does lots of YouTube also. See also @Stuart Clayton for explaining extended scale patterns I also commend “bass guitar for dummies”, in the local library probably, as the author deconstructs the process of choosing notes for a bass line over given chords in a painless and informative manner. Lightbulb moment for me as he did it in just the right way.
  3. Au contraire, he seems quite happy to be talking about “old crap”
  4. Just teasing You - people on here are constantly reminiscing about the Encore jazz bass copy they painted purple and their first Westone ...
  5. Yes, leave that to the old folks 😛 seriously that’s a very sensible attitude
  6. No 15 year old should know this, they are so totally before your time back when gear was expensive and not very good ... lucky I’ve never found out about the jazz bass isn’t it ...
  7. Agree- I have the active one EST96a, was yellow now faded to see-through caramel belter - they still make them
  8. If I have one thing to suggest, it’s “read a lot of technique books until you find the right one” No point soldiering in with one that isn’t reaching you. Like when you get a new maths teacher and they do it differently and you just get it... totally and don’t give in to GAS (gear acquisition syndrome), the gear you have right now is probably more capable than you are. mine is light years ahead of me.
  9. I’ve bought cheap strings like that, they sent too many and told me to keep them. I sold them on as “no-brand” strings for peanuts and people were raving about them. funny old world ...
  10. Yes, I feel more worthy now
  11. Jeez- it looks like I did it ....
  12. I have a vintage stingray which awesome right out of the box leave it a while before you fiddle
  13. I’m so utterly sick of all this competency crap... where are the mess-ups and the “so wish I hadn’t Started this” rants. Can’t you people do something really stupid or badly once in a while ? 🙄
  14. I’m gas free, I have everything I need but no time. I have a bass doc precision, 3tsb maple, relic a stack knob, Olympic white with tort in nitro, relicing itself a stingray copy by vintage a zoom b2.1u an ampeg combo I’m not sure what else I could want Edit:cables possibly, and electricity
  15. I meant that I’d expect the current American models to be “very good indeed” anyway as they are £££, And that by “current models” did you mean mex as it’s fairly common ground that they are really very good these days but didn’t used to be
  16. “Current American” or “current mex when compared to American “?
  17. American isn’t worth the extra ££ in my humble opinion
  18. If that’s your price mark I’d buy Japanese in the marketplace here
  19. It’s time for bed .... 🛌 @Andyjr1515 Swap the router for Horlicks, put your pots of coloured sanding dust back in their catalogued, contour foam shielded racking and bid them Good Night.
  20. What you seem to have At the least is an American body and neck
  21. I thought that operating a motor vehicle When unsure that you have reasonable vision would render you uninsured ? You would be tacitly admitting a possibility of unfitness to drive safely
  22. Usual “take it slow, make it even then speed it up slowly” routine
  23. I note that his little finger is twitching along. ‘Mine doesn’t
  24. Thanks for this, it’s something I’ve tried and failed at. Maybe I didn’t try hard enough. I watched Adam Clayton do it once, playing “with or without you”. If he can do it, so can I
  25. I don’t think I was making such a specific assertion. There’s some real experts around here have serial numbers been on neck plates any time recently ? I thought frnder stopped that for reissues due to ease of faking but I could be wrong
