1. You're more than welcome! There's one in the classifieds now!
2. My fault in original description. It's an external additional power supply for laptops. But works great with the double four.
3. I'll take a photo and forward the battery pack details I'm using with my PJB double four, later tonight when I get home. Nothing on their website, can't remember how I originally found out about it... It's sold as an external battery pack for 'laptops', runs at 20v I think, and best of all, slides nicely into the handle. The Double Four has lots of low end too, and sounds great, very impressive from such a small amp! It came with a range of connection adaptors and you can charge it with the power pack from the Double Four I believe, though I've got an old Sony laptop PSU laying around I use to charge it.
4. PHil Jones Bass 'Double Four' with a laptop battery back?...
5. Just bought some bass books from Ian. Items exactly as described and in fantastic condition. Great communications, no hassle, a great basschatter and highly recommended.
6. I know same here, on all counts. This is a fantastic deal, can't believe it's still here!
7.
based on the BF cans I've heard... General take is too much bass, not enough tone, but I must admit that is also a common trait with bass players, full stop, to my ears and many cabs can screw that up.
I agree. I love bass, but too much ruins the tone. I think this is a common eq issue with BF cabs, we're all so used to turning up the Bass EQ to make up for cabs with poor low end response, that when you get a BF with great lows you have to alter your settings. This tends to be a difficult perception shift for some, like 'auto condimenters' who add salt with out even tasting the food first! Some guys want their heads to boost some bass, no matter how much is already signing from the cab! To get an even response from mine I have to actually roll back the bass as there's so much on tap. This is through a GK head, which admittedly boost lows and highs when EQ is set 'flat' at 12 o'clock.
8.
But back to the OP, not sure what you'd gain..
That's some fair sense right there. Buying from scratch, or coming from HT/EX as I did, I know I'd have the BF (IMO), but if you've already got a nice CN212 in the bag... Tricky decision. But what a great position to be in eh?! You'll win either way I'm sure!
9.
I'm like a kid at Christmas, I ordered a pair of Big Baby 2's this week, just can't wait !!
Wow! That'll be a great pairing, I've matched my BB2 with a Super Midget, wasn't as brave as you. They'll be immense!
10. Very nice little amps. Got mine running off a laptop battery that slides into the carry handle, very portable with great lows and tone!
11. I've been having a similar issue with my GK mb800 head. I run wifi and a network through my earth cable, so I'm wondering if my issue is related to interference or dirty power. I'm considering buying a 'power conditioner' to attempt to rectify. Never had any issues with other heads.
12. I use a BF BB2 Gen3, and am delighted with it. Some people pop them up on a stand or a chair I've heard, not sure if Alex would agree with that acoustically. I've never needed to as the sound dispersion is very good, but I'm only 5'11" (and 3/4's!)
13.
Surely it's not the fact they are louder but stay cleaner longer that's the big factor. Personally I don't care if a BF 2x12 is louder than a Berg 2x12. Just turn up a notch on the amp.
You're dead right, BF stay cleaner longer into higher volumes in my experience. And therefore are able to be played at higher volumes without distorting.
14. I must say that swapping from two 112 Bergs to a BF BB2 and Super Midget, both Gen 3, has increased the volume substantially. My band do play loud and through my gk mb800 the Bergs start to audibly distort at higher volumes, so the great tone they have is lost. However the BF keep on pumping out the great tone on and on as the volume increases, more than enough on tap for my needs. To my ear, the lows are so thick and dispersed so evenly from the BB2 this IMO is in another league to the Bergs. To me through GK, Phil Jones and Mark Bass heads the tone is not miles apart between them at lower levels IMO. I love Bergs, I love BF, but I've stuck with BF and are very happy with my decision. But that's just me, I get that some will love the Bergs and not be as taken with BF as I have been. That's the beauty of having all these choices to suit our tastes and needs! BF for me. They still make me smile every time I pick them up too - incredibly lightweight.
15. Everyone will have a different take on this I'm sure. But I recently swapped out two Berg 112 cabs for a BB2 and Super Midget from Barefaced and haven't looked back! Light weight, super loud, and very transparent.
16. Love my GK mb800 & Barefaced BB2 + Super Midget! Mmmmm! Highly recommended.
17. Got a few Bass books from Mark, very good communication, super quick delivery, exactly as described. Very happy, Recommended.
18. Bought a Bass book off Tom. Great guy, sent it out super fast, well packaged, great condition and as described. Great communications too! Pleasure to deal with. Recommended.
