1. Any chance of a pic with the covers off? Also if you have a multimeter handy the output readings would be good.
2. Great looking bass - and one of the nicest chaps on BC - GLWTS

Just bought a few old bass bits and pieces from Dave. Really nice genuine chap to deal with. Thanks Dave.

5.
I almost hightailed it right there after reading the original post but caught myself thinking 'but I don't even like Jazz basses' and so didn't. I was thinking I was possibly missing out on a bit of a deal but it would seem not.
Yes indeed. I suspect someone told the seller it was underpriced, or they did a little internet research. Hard to find a second-hand shop bargain these days!
6. You're right there aren't too many around. I passed on one of these at £500 a few years ago. Everyone I then told wanted to buy it! I was surprised there was so much interest. Great piece of prog history.
7. These are really great strats. I have a surf green version from the same year. Fabulous value and terrific craftsmanship on these. Have a bump on me...
8. The condition was good actually. Nothing wrong with it that I could see and I did pick it up to have a look. I don't know what happened regarding the price? whether it was cheaper when your friend saw it? I hadn't been there before and after reading your post I thought I'd have a look as I was passing. It's not the sort of place you'd expect to find something like that. I didn't see any other musical instruments there. For the benefit of others, the cafe is vegan so no dairy. I had a coffee with almond milk which was actually very nice, and possibly the best piece of dairy free cake I've had.
9. Just in case anyone is going to make the journey, I was there Sunday... The only one I saw there was a white 2008 Mexican Jazz with a mirror scratch plate...could it be the same one? It's now at £465 with a soft case. ...and yes as already said, the cafe there is excellent!
10. Great bass and a great guy to deal with too.
11.
That happened 1966
Yes that's right. An overstocking of 1966 pots saw them used on instruments up to around 1969.
12.
Thanks for that It's really hard to date bodies as they often don't have any distinguishing marks or date stamps. As it's been refinished twice this can make it even harder to date sometimes. The dowel marks don't mean it's a '64, or pre-CBS though. Fender continued to use this method of finishing for well after '65. I have a pair of '68 J basses that both have the same dowel marks as my '63 and '64. Without any other dating references it could be difficult to prove the age of this body - it could potentially be a complete '68J with '64 pots and neck plate. Might be worth going back to the people who supplied the provenance document and asking for more information.
I agree with this. To get the full value you want back for the bass I woud suggest taking it apart and photograhing the parts - pots and wiring, back of pickups and pickup wire on them. Also the neck heel showing any markings that may be stamped on it. If you're not confident to take it apart then get a shop to do it for you. This shouldn't ruin the setup and you stand a much better chance of a sale. Only my opinion though of course.
13. Michele bought my Fender Custom Shop Jaco Tribute bass. He was perfect to deal with throughout, and made the process a pleasure with a quick payment and great communication. I can highly reccomend. Thanks Michele!
14. Cash offers welcomed by PM. Hard to gauge a price for these CS Jaco's, so happy to listen to sensible offers. Still prefer not to trade as raising funds. Thanks
15.
Here for sale is my fabulous 2003 Custom Shop Jaco fretless. Quite a rare bird. The necks on these Jaco Tribute basses are fantastic. As close to a proper 62 as you will find, especially so on these earlier ones. When I bought the bass the COA certificate had been lost. I had the Custom Shop rep take it apart to check authenticity and a new COA was issued. The CS do not back date certificates so the date on this is 2015 (not 2003). It does have the serial number on the new COA of course. Also, the pickups had been replaced by a previous owner. I replaced those back to the correct Custom Shop 60s single coil pickups which would have been on it originally. So now the bass is exactly as it should be and sounds great! It has its original case and all the Custom Shop case candy. I'd rather not do trades this time thanks. Asking £2350 for one of the best fretless basses ever made by the Custom Shop. I notice there is a similar one for sale currently in London at a well known vintage dealer for £3995.
