  1. That looks great. These are terrific basses. I think there's something about the 1963 P that just nails it, curved Brazilian board and those great pups. I still use mine on just about everything and it just does the job. Good luck with the sale.
  2. Just a quick chime in... The Bass VI low E is actually the same pitch as a standard electric bass, so the E,A,D,G are pitched as a bass guitar - then it adds the B and top E strings. So is strung in the same way as a guitar but obviously lower in pitch. I believe the idea of these was to aid guitarists in playing bass parts, but strictly speaking they are not the same as the baritone guitar which may be more suitable for you? They are tuned to a C just below the normal guitar pitches so work well when strummed. I have three vintage Fender VI's at the moment, and they are great instruments, they can really add something. The bass part can be played on them and then any soloing on the top strings is like playing a guitar (but more mournful sounding - think high range of tenor sax). Anyway, these are very good basses indeed and it's a very fair price. Good luck with the sale.
  3. Surprised this is still here...these late 70s heavy basses with Dimarzio pups are truly great funk machines. In fact the Dimarzio replacement thing was all the rage back in the day. Finish looks very cool too... GLWTS
  4. Lovely! You don't see may of these about in this condition. Someone's going to be very happy with this! A proper time-machine! GLWTS
  5. Lovely looking bass Nick, as we both know this is a fabulous period for these. Someone will be very pleased with this. GLWTS
  6. Nice looking bass. Also a very nice chap! This one shouldn’t be around long at this price!
  7. This is a fabulous VI, an absolute gem. I've actually had the pleasure of playing this one myself, and if I didn't have two already I would be buying it. I doubt there is a cleaner one on the market, it plays great too. Good luck with the sale Si.
  8. Pick up looks good to me. I have a 1960 jazz and a 1961 precision that look the same and they are original winds. Great basses these stack knob 1960s. Mighty rare too, especially at this sort of price these days!! great looking bass!
  9. Just bought a few bits from Tony, really helpful and pleasant to deal with. Arrived very quickly too. Many thanks
  10. Has this bass sold now? Thanks
  11. Is this lovely 66P still available?
  12. Great set of pictures Karl... All looks very good to me - fine looking bass.
  13. Terrible business. Make sure you contact all the remaining Denmark Street shops - Wunjo and No Tom in particular. Also the Bass Gallery in Camden and the boutique in Shoreditch. These are so unusual I can't see them being able to pass it on.
  14. What a great looking bass! Great chap to deal with too! GLWTS.
  15. Nice to deal with Bram again. All nice and straightforward.
  16. Absolutely, what a great looking bass. Also a must for Eberhard Weber fans with that top C string.
  17. The only other of these I've seen was for sale at a very reputable shop in the US. Looking at the photos I would surmise this is most likely the same bass. They were asking £20,220 plus £135 shipping to the UK. Then there would be import duty and VAT to pay on top of that. Plus the CITES business to deal with. Probably 25% in additional costs in real terms on top of the asking price to land it here, plus the time and expense regarding certification. It's starting to look like a bit of a bargain!
  18. I doubt the seller expects to return the full amount as listed. In fact there is a rather large 'Make Offer' button below the listed price. There is also the VAT element to consider when buying from a retailer such as this. It won't be possible to know what that amount is as it will be sold under the VAT margin scheme - and consequently any VAT can't be claimed back. It would certainly be offered for less money without the VAT element, and I suspect as Rick says, it is very hard to price something so rare. The seller himself will no doubt be aware to find another will be extremely unlikely.
  19. Totally agree with the above. Great looking bass Karl and a very good price too.
  20. We could do with more pictures really I think. Ideally one with the guard and bridge cover off, one of the front of the headstock, and the pots/pickups if possible.
  21. Yes indeed. Menzerna are great, but Maguiars are easily available in Halfords etc. I find the ultimate polish gives that new guitar shine so I tend to leave it at the ultimate compound on an older finish.
