Like it has been said, no such thing as a good year. You'll have to play a bunch of them and see what you like best.
Hey Chaps Just wanted to get a few opinions on both the drums and MIDI bits on this track - I used Superior Drummer 2 and I think it sounds good - the MIDI stuff starts in the middle - it's the keyboard solo and then the melody bits at the end... let me know what you think! Eff Why I - MP3 http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=136069 Thanks as ever Mike
The player doesn't seem to want to work for me. Any ideas mate?

Hello Kentucky! This place is what keeps us UK dwellers sane. Glad you made it

Wondering what you think of this. I wrote and recorded it quite a while ago. There's a lot of guitar on it! But this was when I was a guitwat and only played bass for recording songs. The bass is pretty much improvised. I'm flying solo on this, I had a electronic kit too, but decided on the Alesis SR16 in the end. I still like it actually, I think it's a pretty good tune. It's called White Boy, but it's not racist as one knob end thought without having heard the words I'd appreciate your comments. Cheers as always

Now that does look fascinating! I shall indulge myself later. Great find OG!
I find that whenever I get a new instrument (after a careful selection process), be it bass, guitar or whatever, it always seems like the best I’ve ever had. However, after a reasonably long period of time once the honeymoon period has been and gone, I sometimes reassess and get GAS for something different. Anyway, after a year of owning my current bass I’d say that I’m still 95% satisfied with it, but I’m wondering if I should still look for something that is 100% satisfaction? Is it worth changing just to reach 96% satisfaction? The complication is that I’m generally in a sell to buy scenario so there’s no going back! Are you 100% satisfied with your best bass?
I'm the same as you. But I may have learned my lesson. My Warwicks are close to perfect. It would be easy to make them perfect. But, after saying I hate playing them, I am GASsing for a 4001 at the moment. I'm going to have to borrow a friend's to see if I can relieve myself of this idiocy.
what do midlanders count as?
Us Midlanders are often seen as having no opinion on anything, but we are very balanced people. I am trying to redress that balance Welcome to Basschat Mr Guardian!
I've been on the quest you're on several times. I've lost count of how many Fenders (and other brands) I've bought and sold in the last few years. And my conclusion? There's nothing like a Status.
Me too, there's nothing like a Warwick.
seen primus in 1993 ,the best gig i was ever at .
I saw Primus support Rush in Wembley Shithouse around then. Herb was a fabulous drummer too. The band came on, and Les shouted "WHAT THE HELL'S GOIN' ON AROUND HERE" in a cowboy drawl stylee and launched into some crazy slap riff. They were ace.

Off Topic is the proper repository for talk of miniature gerbil rearing, obscure Lithuanian sandwich makers of the 15th century, musculo-skeletal deformity in hermaphroditic herbivores, hair shirt benefits, why people who live in caravans like copper so much, AND guitars and their operation. There is no need for further expansion.
I thought as much. I had to sate my thirst for conflict elsewhere, it was most irksome.
Before you buy, TRY! And do plenty of research on what nasties you should be looking for. Feel, tone, weight, build quality, materials, neck shapes and sizes are all over the place, so watch out. I played a filthy dog of a 3-bolt Jazz in a shop the other day, too, wobbly neck, bent tuner, massive neck, £2,850. Be very careful. Personally, I can't see many valid reasons for buying one apart from investment and the inexplicable lure of an old Fender.

Killed by a PM I'm afraid guys Look elsewhere, like the Bulger thread. Oh, that got killed too. Paul doesn't want any help or sage advice. He's happy being bored with bass I believe. We had a nice chat about it and I understand his position now.

I use all sorts but a little chorus and reverb is a fairly standard practice for me.
