Thanks guys, Im new on here and dont know the ropes yet! I'm really looking for £150 but any near offers are welcome! My girlfriend made the ebay post so I will change it now, cheers very much Llewelyn
If it's in very good nick, £150 is exceptional value for money. The active circuitry is excellent, massive dub tones and you can get lovely growly funk tones too. Great basses. Welcome to Basschat, Llewellyn. EDIT: I meant to add, if it's the same as mine was, it's one of the few active basses which allows you to bypass the active circuitry completely with the switch, so if your battery dies onstage, you don't die with it.

Hohner Professional Jack Bass Custom. A very good bass indeed, I had one for a long while. They are NOT, however, "custom made" as in the ebay link. They come from a production line in Korea. To our new friend Llewellyn, you need to state a price on here mate, or ask the mods to move this from the FOR SALE section to the ebay links section. Good luck with your sale.
Why will it be a different band? OK so the vocalist has flounced off taking her widdling poodle with her, but you still have the entire rhythm section. And that, as any fule no, is the backbone of every good band. You're in a good position. I agree with SP, see if you can get that male vocalist back. Beg if you have to.
And I agree with you. I hear a lot of stories on here about band members being complete faffarses and leaving, cliques often being a major reason. I think it's down to lack of confidence undermining professionalism. There are some serious shrinking violets out there too, who dare not speak their minds at the appropriate time.

It is disgusting to look at but that's what Warwick fans voted for most. There are so many people in the world with no style, no taste. What a bunch of (insert the word "c**ts" here).
Actually I've never known anyone who hasn't benefited from lessons with a good teacher your right and the above sentance hits the nail on the head. having a GOOD teacher would no doubt be helpful, my mates taking some advanced bass lessons at the moment, seems to be doing him the world of good, but when your left on your own to learn it can be ok even though i was kind of forced into it. maybe i'll try lessons when i'm not so skint no doubt an enthusastic tutor would improve and refine any skill i picked up
I forgot who said this, it was an eminent actor or musician, and it is a lesson in itself.
However,if you can find a bass player/teacher who has got an idea about 'musicianship' and not just 'Bass' you are on to a winner.
Jakesbass Not just an idea about 'musicianship', a whole philosophy. -
News German ones seem to be on sale for nearly double what I paid for mine new last September. Thomann and others are cashing in perhaps? I love my German Corvettes.
Wow, Ali Akhbar Khan - I'm impressed! I know most people tend to think of Ravi Shankar here when it comes to Sitar -- mostly thanks to The Beatles, I guess -- but I've heard a few things from AAK and he is mind-blowing! I'm certainly no expert myself in this field. No doubt, there are other excellent sitarists around. I just haven't heard them.
Ali Akhbar Khan plays sarod, it's a beautiful instrument. Check out my ex's late uncle, Pandit Nikhil Bannerjee, for sitar, he has a softer, more feminine touch than Ravi Shankar which I prefer. North Indian classical musical is wonderful. -

Lessons From Someone Other Than A Bass Player
xilddx replied to Pete Academy's topic in General Discussion
My ex is an incredible sitarist and studied with Ali Akhbar Khan. She is by far the most accomplished mucisian I have known. I learned an enormous amount from her about music in a conceptual way. I would certainly recommend lessons from an accomplished player of a different instrument if you want to learn about being a musician. -
I'll noodle around on guitar and once I get a couple of chord changes that please me, I can hear where the song's going and the rest of the song usually writes itself. Words and vocal lines usually just happen. After that it's a process of re-writing and refinement. I just got a little MicroKorg synth so I'll probably start writing on that when I get some time. I never write on the bass, it's usually the last thing to get done.
But when something is rammed down your throat as much as Warwick stuff is (the guitar mags are the same, particular Guitar Buyer and Guitar mag), it gets a little wearing. Cheers, James
Eurgh, I hate that expression. Puts me in mind of Daily Mail readers who, through some twisted evolution, have lost their ability to switch off the television. Flip the page man, to Melissa.
TBH all this Warwick advertising just puts me off Warwick and its products all together...
Why? Because it's professional and there's a lot of it? Nothing wrong with spending money on decent marketing to help create a sustainable business. They are brilliant instruments too, with proper quality control.
It's great when you realise what you need ain't it? Just reached the same point myself. Unfortunately, I heven't got "the one" yet.
Yeah, it's funny really. I've had "the one" for about two years, I just didn't realise it! It's so "right" that I think I took it for granted, it's a perfect tool so I didn't notice it was there, if you see what I mean. I can't believe I nearly sold it! I had dreams of getting a bass that had a life and personality of its own, like an old Fender or something, but I've realised that's all bullshit, and what I really need to do is have the equipment that allows me to be me. Now all I've got to do is find "me", and that is going to take a lot of time and patience but I think I may have got enough inspiration back to make a start.
What a fantastic song that is and that flanged bass is awesome. I must say (waits for the hate mail) I always really liked the album Drama, but Tempus Fugit is without doubt THE song of the album for me. But was he using a Ric on the recording ? Not in this vid. Sorry for going off topic there EDIT: Wasn't there one of these basses for sale on here last year - can't remember it's make. Ah yes, found it http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=67644&st=0 and Electra bass - sorry back to the original OP
You are absolutely right, it's an Electra, gorgeous bass!
What on earth were you thinking of anyway Nigel? Even thinking of getting rid of those lovely Warwicks, being seduced by whims and fancies, you'd need your head read. I'm glad to see you've come to your senses.
I know, I was being a dick wad. Anyway, I meant to say I bought a MicroKORG synth and it's being delivered tomorrow, so I will start learning the basics of the keyboard which I have wanted to do for a while. And it will give me a bit of motivation to start writing and recording again. How exciting!

Hello mate. You really have to check out Fawlty Towers and Rising Damp if you haven't already. Both are genius writing and performance.

I've got two basses that I love, no more are necessary and I doubt I'll ever need anything else for live work and recording. My two Warwicks are fabulous, don't know what I was thinking buying and selling so many basses over the last year. I might indulge in a fretless acoustic at some point, and a Whamola, but they will be for fun and stage cracks. Got home yesterday and spent most of the eveing listening to Tempus Fugit, and dialling in Chris Squire's awesome flanged growly Ric tone into my POD. The result was that my Corvette $$ sounds absolutely ACE! I haven't had so much pleasure from playing at home in a very long time and I can't wait to play along with Tempus Fugit again. I loved playing with a pick again after quite some time and I'm rethinking my bass sound approach completely now. I very rarely practice or play at home unless I have gigs or recording sessions imminent. I think I lost my inspiration. I felt great after playing for a few hours, I need to keep this up, feeling my confidence and ability growing again. Sorted!
You can get a decent bass for a lot less than a decent amp.
Yeah, but who needs an amp when you have PODs and the like?

How Can You Justify Spending £5,350 on a New Bass??
xilddx replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I tell you what, seeing the two Warwick signature models in BGM this month, both about the £5k mark, makes this Gus look like a bargain.
