I'm glad someone pointed that out. I was worried it was going to have to be me. Again.
Well, you know, this is a "FORUM". It's just weird when people get out their sandwich board and walk about with cotton wool in their ears, then have a crack at anyone who posts an opinion, especially if it challenges their POV. TIP: If you want to put your sandwich board on and stroll around town with your ear defenders on, at least write something interesting on it.
Ahh, I can't agree with this I'm afraid. Firstly my imagination is fine thank you very much. I have plenty of creative outlets that are not bass related. In fact many members of this forum wear them! Musically I still write, program and record stuff, although admittedly not with the voracity I used to. And on a personal note, I have never found anything even slightly creative or imaginative in trying to learn other peoples music. I find far more satisfaction in writing a simple, original, riff than I ever would being able to play some widdly widdly stuff by *insert name here. But that's just me. I appreciate everybody's advice and good will but I think we are reading a bit too much into it. I have been playing bass for 25 years and I am currently a bit bored with it. Think of me as The Roots...going on tour with a tuba player instead of a bass player.
Alright, chill, I wasn't having a dig. Imagination for THE BASS is what I was talking about, not your cross-stitching ability. We all get tired of everything we do from time to time, don't let it knock your self-esteem. I think your statement about learning other people's music is highly misguided and there is a whiff of superiority about the way you phrased it. If you are one of those humans who feel they can't learn from other people and expand on it creatively, that's a big problem in my book. As for your OP .. "As per title. Can't really be bothered anymore. Message ends." and "I appreciate everybody's advice and good will but I think we are reading a bit too much into it. I have been playing bass for 25 years and I am currently a bit bored with it." .. why did you bother starting a thread if you were not being solicitous of a possible solution? Did you really mean "bored"? I heard a phrase once that stuck with me, "only boring people get bored". Not saying that applies to you.
Well, I am far from being a master, unless of course you want to add a couple of syllables after that! All I have ever wanted from bass is to be able to write and play the bass lines I hear in my head. Which I generally can do, so I don't feel compelled to "work" at the instrument at all.
You are bored of yourself, not of the bass. I know how it feels. Your imagination is where the problem lies. What I have just done is listen to Scott Thunes playing some difficult and beautiful arpeggios in some Zappa numbers and tried to learn them. It's hard, it has challenged me and now I want to learn loads of arpeggio movements and understand some of the theory behind them. The thing is, I have bands to which I can apply this new-found inspiration, so I have an outlet for it. If you haven't, then I understand the "what's the point" attitude. By all means flog your gear and get a Strat.

Hello mate, sorry to be slightly OT here. I bought the exact same bass (I believe) in august last year (in Honey Violin) and it was massively cheaper. Warwick Corvette HV Standard Fretless Bass Guitar - swamp ash body, 2x MEC JJ pickups, active MEC 2-band EQ, ovangkol neck, includes Premium Line Plus gig bag. Colour: Honey Violin Coloured Oil Finish Price: 789.00 EUR each Is there anything different about yours? I'm wondering what the hell's going on with Warwick pricing.
To be fair to them, it looks odd but all I have had is one cancelled audition, which I was called in advance about. Still concerned. We'll see what happens from here. I now have a mental image of loads of basschatters turning up to auditon at the same time!
I once worked with a young girl who, after regaling us with a tale about arriving home to find her boyfriend in bed atop one of her female friends, told us she felt suspicious at that moment. I realise that you are giving them a fair chance based on your own experience with them, but then, that would mean you should probably hold fire on your thoughts about Robert Mugabe.
Thanks for the info. In terms of application then, it could be used for switching from bass to guitar or vice versa in different sections of a song rather than bass notes and chords on the same section? I'm trying to figure out how practical a selector footswitch would be as a work-around solution. Probably not very!
First part is correct. I have been doing that. Second part, I can't see any practical advantage in a footswitch either
Very interesting! Separate outputs for the guitar and the bass? How about the controls? Is it possible to keep the selector switch in a middle position so that both bass and guitar are on at once?
Hello Funk. Right, there are two outputs, one is "smart" which means you can plug into it and use the three way switch to have either bass or guitar and neither in the centre position. The other output means the guitar and bass run separately so you can plug into two rigs. You can not have both guitar and bass on at the same time. I wanted to but soon realised that the vibration through the body caused by playing one or the other means the unplayed instrument rings sympathetically, so there is no practical application for having both on simultaneously. Cheers.

Alas, it is impossible, my friend. See you tomorrow.

Hello Mate. Jakesbass has visited me in Ealing before, depends on when he's rehearsing. Amazing teacher.
Looks like a Columbus -- rounded pick-ups & used to have small machine heads B
I was going to suggest Columbus, but the board inlays look too high quality.
Rob, that is the single most disgusting thing I've ever seen, therefore I'm assuming you must have owned one of these at some point?
Agreed! Antigua? More like Campbell's Condensed Cream Of Mushroom.

God knows, but the headstock shape looks strangely familiar. I know I would put the tuners back where they should be.
Yeah either 82 or 83 it's basically an sb900 but White and gold. Plays and sounds great. Known as and refered to by peers as the poor mans Alembic
Riiiight, sorry about that. So what do you value it at and why are you getting rid?
-
Woah that's steep. I value my aria a bit higher than that. I really like this bass (for want of a better word) though. I don't think I've ever seen anything so cool
Oh, sorry mate, I thought they were worth about £200. Is it an old one?

There are plenty of coffee table basses around but is this the first sofa? -
The best market's possibly the States, they like this sort of thing, but I can't really the sigs being any significant price booster. I don't know if people really go for a signed bass, I know I would rather have a signed album.
