1.
Totally fair. I have hung on to the Tecamp Puma and with the TH500, I have everything covered (both purchased from Thomann). Tried a GK Micro and it is not my thing so back it went. They are great to do business with. There is not a music store for miles around here that stocks a fraction of what is available form Thomann, so it is a Godsend that if I need anything, I can order it, have it delivered to my home within a couple of days and use it for up to 30 days knowing that there is a no quibble return policy. Yu will not get better than that. plus I reviewed some of the equipment I have purchased from them on their site and they send me a 40 euro voucher off my next purchase. Where will it end with these guys.
Completely understand why you would use them! It's probably the way a lot of music stores are going to try and go.
 2.
I have never purchased a guitar, but I recently returned a micro amp and it cost 15 euro. They simply asked me to fill out a return slip and leave the item at my local post office. Not sure what the price of returning a guitar is. Be warned though, the item needs to be in pristine condition. The slightest mark anywhere on the casing, means that Thomann will refuse the return
That seems completely fair to me. Those Tecamp amps are tempting!
 3. That is quite a decent policy! Is it really only 15 euros to drop a bass off with a post office/similar?!
 4. Why is it so expensive to have that option? Surely cheaper than paint/polish! What happens if you wear through? Could happen.
 5.
This is my favourite track off St Vincent's latest album; I really like her guitar playing/effects
She is definitely not a conventional guitarist, and I like that!
 6. Just realised St. Vincent are playing the amazing Sage venue in Newcastle...definitely going to try and get tickets ASAP!
 7.
Yeah I enjoyed St Vincent. Kasabian a bit less so. Didn't quite get the rolling down the stairs thing at the end though?
I think its another part of the the whole 'act'. She is definitely a little off the wall, but I quite like that. Nice Musicman Albert Lee HH guitar as well.
 8. I must admit I've been quite disappointed with Jools recently, not so much the actual show, just the bands. None of them have really made me want to go and listen to them. This past week, I wanted to catch up with what Kasabian are doing. I was impressed, and I'm glad they have a another new sound for this latest album. I've always liked how the instruments stick to their parts and they don't have a dominant guitarist. It's actually more like dominant bass! St. Vincent were brilliant. Quite odd, but brilliantly catchy at the same time. If you get chance, check it out. It's good to hear new music that inspires me to keep writing. 'Birth In Reverse' is the really catchy track.
 9. I would try a new 2014 American Standard P Bass. They now have the 62 Reissue pups in them. Most P's can be made to sound VERY similar with the right strings, setup, tone knob and amp settings.
 10. Cave in are a fantastic band.
 11.
https://www.youtube....h?v=4jdTG7XHTX0 theres a link to a page where you can hear the final mix of " open your eyes" signal path was my 5 string into a lateral sounds Root into my orange then into the ashdown 810t no di needed! andy
Bass and drums have the best mix on this! Well done for getting bass heard properly in metal!
 12. The top on the Overwater is amazing.
 13.
Really? I thought it was essentially an LM2/LM3 with a different power module to bring it up to 800W... How is it different? I have never seen one in the flesh, or heard it.
Unfortunately not. When the LM3/LM800/LMT/LMT800 came out I went to try them all at the Bass Merchant. The LMT sounded very similar to the LM3, but the 800 watt versions have a different tone overall...which I'm guessing is due to how the 800 watt Class D reacts with the pre, or an inherent part of the tone of the power section, or even just the voicing Markbass wanted. The LM2/3 is a classic.
 14. I was almost going to order, but I really want a 5 string Reflex HH in Tangerine Pearl....mmmm!
 15.
How does it differ G, I was looking at this route down the line with my set up?
The LM3 tone is, as you will know, that classic Markbass warm/clear/almost tube like tone, but quite 'flat'. I've tried the LMTube 800, and I think I also tried the LM800 on the same day. It just seems to have a MUCH deeper wider low end, quite ice-picky highs...something isn't quite as nice IMO. There are some discussions on Talkbass about it as well. All personal preference I guess
 16.
for LM4... you mean something like the LM 800? http://www.markbass....etail.php?id=98
Nah, unfortunately I'm not keen on the MB 800 watt tone...its different to the 500W offerings.
 17.
If that is the case...prices are dropping, then that takes a little wind out of the sales... Still, overall, not in favour of diluting a product/brand. Good luck to them, with their new business model
+1....i'd rather pay more if they kept it as it was and made a new LM4/F500 with more wattage.
 18. I wish I was passing by to check this out. I've been considering a Carvin BX to go with my current DB212 (4 ohm), and this would work safely with it!
 19. No...IME. Heavier gauge strings give a different feel and tension, and may give a different tone if its a different brand or type of string, but no real extra volume. Just turn up on your amp/input gain.
 20.
I would think so, it's more the tonal difference I'm wondering about. As it happens I really rate the OTB. There are a few 'cork sniffers' round these parts who wouldn't even give them a chance but they're everything I look for in an amp. Admittedly the form factor isn't ideal though!
The OTB is a very very powerful amp, especially considering its size/weight/cost. Its is probably a 1/3 of the price of the WA, but no, its tone is different and will not do the WA tone.
OBT louder than the WA, do you mean?
Just in terms of absolute power. Orange tend to underrate their amps, and I'm sure there are tests printed that show the OBT pushing out way more than 500W. Wattage isn't everything though, but it just so happens I personally like the Orange tone (although I don't own a OTB - I've just had a go on a few).
 21.
But that's exactly why they rate Barefaced so highly, don't you see? Barefaced don't place much weight.
?!
 22.
WoT, as a matter of interest have you ever tried the Orange Terror? Having tried the Orange and the Genz side by side I much preferred the Orange, but I'd be interested to hear how the WA would sit in that company. I've been talking myself out of a WA for years...
The OBT would be substantially louder. If that matters.
 23.
Yet you believe stuff you read on here?!?!
Not always, no, but I trust certain players and their ears/experience, just because they might be similar to my tone goals etc.
 24.
Yup. You just wind them up and off they go! I love it!
Me to...I'm guity of getting wound up. I am someone who like to be incredibly informed before I buy certain gear. When I do decide, I put my money where my mouth is and have no issues with that. I am, as mentioned, incredibly cynical.
 25.
Bah! They only give the Super12 a 94% rating and the Midget T a 97% rating. Pathetic review. Completely fails to complain about finish, handles or feet. Doesn't mention how much better all the competition is. Manages to avoid using words like fanboi or cheerleader. Instead, they have the temerity to write a genuinely impartial review based on the quality of these bass cabs when used as bass cabs. Hopeless. Call that journalism?
Call me a cynic (I know that I am...I question everything) but I wouldn't personally place much weight in a standard music mag review. That goes for ANY product.
