1. In that case, 800. I still think the 800 is a bargain price!
2. My money would be on the MB800. However, it is very powerful. The MB500 can be bought new for about £400.00 which is a total bargain.
3. Hi. Have you tried another bass/other cabs/take pedals out of the chain/other cables/other speaker cables? If not, try those first. If that fails, then contact Orange on their UK customer service email. They are very good with warranty issues. it might just be a tube...
4. Anyone who is using flats, a cab without a horn, or the horn off, or a cab with a hole in the mids, or those who roll off treble on their bass, will clearly notice the high level of bass on this amp, with the bass control at 12. Without a doubt. When I compare it to my Shuttlemax 9.2, there is clearly a huge difference, and the Max is more 'defined' and modern, with less warmth. But, and this is the big but for me, the whole idea of the Streamliner is to get close to the older vintage tones, where the tubes provided warmth and tube 'sag' so to speak. Many of the Fender/GK amps have exactly the same type of tone, (eg, with a dip in the mids). Recent reviews of the latest GK amps show a pretty huge mid scoop, which like the Streamliner, is easily rectified by moving the EQ a little. Then, there is still room to play. Maybe its because I tend to use Musicman basses, and they just respond well to the ying/yang of Streamliner's tone, and the fact I use faily mid forward cabs. For me, it sounds fabulous.
5. Actually, I've never seen one! I think Orange should make a nice 2x12 (not the current version with speaker behind speaker) or a 1x12. Both should be spec'd with coaxial horns like the TC RS cabs.
6. Looks similar to one of the Squier bridges...(not that it's a bad thing!)
7. Basically, I can't hear what the tone is because of the breakup/distortion. Cool, but I'd like to play one before even thinking about owning one. Not sure I'd use it much.
8. Nig has hit the nail on the head. There will always be fluffs, string noises, etc, so don't worry about it. Especially if you are using new roundwounds and a very clean amp!!!
9. Hi all I actually like creamy whites on basses, so it isn't really an issue, but I have noticed that two of my basses are turning a more creamy shade of white over time. Both of them are fairly recent, (2010/11) and both are usually cased unless used, and haven't been used outside as yet in direct sun, or on a stand in sunlight. They are both poly finishes. One has gone all creamy, the other seems to be getting there, with just a small area on the contours which seems to be the last area to change. I'm guessing this is normal, and usually people don't notice?
10. Could always depend on technique and how much you change the EQ. I lower the bass to 10 ish, mids to 1/2 ish. Perfect! Lovely quality to the tone and build. Excellent treble control.
11. What a stunner!! Why is this still unsold?!?!
12. Plus one on the EQ. Small scoop that can easily be dialed out, just like on a lot of amps like GK amps, etc.
13. RIP
14.
I did read about it but just thought it was generally dealt with in a better fashion than MB. Just to be clear, I'm not knocking Mark Bass gear, I love my Mark Bass cabs.
TC definitely have the edge with service.
15. Ay, I've had two post 2008 American Standards. The first was pretty good, but I sold it on as I found the maple to be a little too glossy for me, (although now I might quite like it). Now, I have a 2011 Sunburst/Tort//Rosewood, and this bass sings! It is beautiful. It does not have the new CS pups, but the pups are brilliant. If I found a similar instrument, P or J, I would buy again, however Fender's QC can be dodgy I'm afraid. Just be careful and check them properly.
16. Nice! Very good value for money as well. A lot of bass for £550...
17. Lovely maple! What happened to the first one?
18. I bet its one of the tubes.
19. Wooop wooop its the sound of the (cab) police....
20. That Ampeg solid state SVT clone....450H?! AWFUL.
21.
In fairness can you imagine if Sibob decided to sell his OC2's
Oh I agree, there are genuine sellers on here. I've just noticed, (with being an ultra cautious buyer) that there were a few sellers who didn't seem so 'genuine'.
22. I would probably be more wary to sell now. I understand the site needs funds to run, but personally I don't sell or buy that often. I agree that the buyer should be charged some/all of the cost of the advert. Many WON'T agree with that though. There are certain basschatters who have, in my eyes, abused the for sale area and basically got 'tat' for a good price from Cash Converters/eBay/seller with less knowledge, then sold it on here for a good profit. I disagree with that. It isn't a shop. In fact, one item that was in no way tat was on here about a year back, I almost bought it, then realised it was actually on a gumtree type site for £150.00 less from a totally different seller in the same area. I found evidence that it was exactly the same item, pointed it out to the seller on here, and then it vanished apart from the advert on here. Literally as soon as I pointed it out. I mean, who honestly has 10 or more old Trace amps, one a week or so, and sells them on here. They were bought for profit purposes only, (I use this as an example).
23. Although I will say, some bassists I have seen just come across as total nerds on stage, especially with weird looking basses or when they barely move. I don't know why, but bass to me seems to attract two types: 1. Cool 'band' types who love the whole rock star 'thing' and really get into it, 2. Nerds. I like to think I'm 1, but I'm probably also a bit of 2.
24.
For me I love dressing up a bit, moving about, and it's partly natural and partly deliberate, but I really love being on a stage. Oddly, it's the place I feel most comfortable and safe, and it's probably because I'm a anxious nervous type of person and consequently I need attention and affirmation. I also grew up on glam and prog rock and that feeds the total tart within me
Although I grew up in a different era, everything else applies to me. Definitely love the stage more than people would realise.
25. The TC RS210 gets my vote for giggable/small/fairly light/compact and a great tone! Very nice coax tweeter.
