1. A Bass I had delivered from Japan had free delivery. Customs ticket only showed value and that's all I paid duty on.
2. I'll keep an eye on this thread but reckon it'll turn out fine. If you pay a decent sized sum to a fella making a decent profit everybody should be happy. It's when folks charge £100-£200 for a £10-£20 guitar problems arise. I'll wish you luck but don't think you'll need it.
3. 2017 looks like it's going to be fairly GAS free Not surprised 2016 was a helluva year for it The one omission in my Peavey collection should be filled by Feb. The 32 year hunt for the fretless Bass Maniac ended and I finally bought a DB. Not much left for 2017 though I've always fancied a Vigier so never say never.
4. The Cat's never had a job for as long as I've known him. It's down to me to get presents for both of us. This year it's a joint present. He gets loads of cheap pedals and I get a Diago Gigman pedalboard on sleep in.
5. I know this particular bass well and agree it's a great player. GLWTS
6. I know a fella over in the States who's did 5 string Peavey T40s. Used monorail saddles, ground to fit the T40 bridge
7. According to quite few threads in America, Fender's just redoing their website before NAMM so models disappear for days then reappear. Happens every year apparently.
8. Thanks for that darkandrew. Perfect explanation.
9.
What do you mean by active pickups / passive pots? do you mean the pickups are powered and the wiring is just like an ordinary passive circuit? That is just the same as if you replaced the pickups in any other passive bass, you get the advantage of the lower impedance and noise reduction. If that is factory fitted I assume they have a model without the active pickups.
That's exactly what I mean. Pickups are connected to 9V battery, passive Vol,Tone & Blend. This was the only version of the model. Manual tells you very little, just says clockwise for more treble/anticlockwise for more bass. I'm not complaining as I prefer it to the earlier Sarzo bass with it's 3 Band EQ and trimpots.
10. Can anyone shed light on active pickup/passive pots ? My recent Peavey RSB has them but I'm stumped for reason.
11. Very nice bass for small money. GLWS
12. Congratulations Deedee. Glad to hear you picked the right bass.
13. Scam pages got through uBlock So I checked the request log. Think this is the culprit. https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/v3iIE44/yU/l/en_US/PplzbfbVZxk.js Added it to Block Site extension and so far so good
14. My trouble is unrelated to photobucket. Basschat experience goes like this. Open homepage - all good Spot I've some notifications so click to see them - new page opens with bingo, money scam or microsoft virus scam. Go to read comments in status updates - see above. Click on the latest post in any of the sections - See above Happens at least once every time I BC. AdBlock is running,Windows Defender is up to date and finds nothing, Malaware finds nothing. Cookies and history were cleared. Tried using IE instead of Chrome but it still happens. You must have posted while I was typing Paul.I'll try uBlock. Cheers
15. Great album, not every tune was brilliant but enough were to make it great. Pinched my copy from Woolies.
16.
So in order to get the rhythm from tab you also have to be able to read the rhythmic component of standard notation anyway! Or figure it out from listening to the record, presumably....
Learn the patterns with Tab,get the groove from the record. Reckon that's the way most of us do it.
17. Saw that Ultimate Drive video last night. The pedal was ordered about 20 minutes later
18. Instead of changing the bridge, the OP could just fit longer screws and springs. Never saw a bridge yet that didn't have at least 6mm travel before the saddle dropped of the base plate.
19. I thought we were just to agree with the OP that he'd got terrible service and list the thousands of times Thomann has shafted us. Oh and follow it up with a pledge of support to never buy from them again.
20. It's doing grand It's black and maple too !!
21. Excellent basses those Foundations. Got a couple of those myself.
22. Obviously I'm a crazy person but if you're a crazy person who like basses Peavey was a good choice. They did P style basses,J style,PJ s. Active & passive, bolt on & thru neck, carbon necks, pretty natural finishes and block colour. Even did the MIDI bass after Wal gave up on it. Something for everyone and cause they were never "The Brand" very affordable. Made sense to me but then I'm nuts
23. 39 Peavey basses. Only on 1 I had bother with the neck. No pots failing or strap locks coming loose. I'd say quality was good.
24. Don't think the Ginger Tom would take kindly to the huge crowds
25. Yesterday's post wasn't really meant to happen. The Void was just an impulse buy, turned out fine but still just an impulse buy This one I've been waiting on for a while and they don't come up too often. Strange beast the RSB bass, stands for Rudy Sarzo Bass but unlike the earlier Sarzo sig model Rudy had nothing to do with it's design. They came in 2 flavours :- solid colour poplar body with all maple neck and Koa body, maple and Pau Ferro neck. Electronics have thrown me a bit,it's active VFL humbuckers but passive tone pot !! Seems a strange arrangement and I'll have to look in the control cavity later. It's quite light and has the quality Peavey neck I take for granted, easy access to the "No Go Zone" around the 24th. Also looks bloody good with the natural finish I also have the earlier Sarzo bass, now it's a quality bass no doubt about that. Feels great to play, looks great. Loads of folks say how great they are. You get the picture. Buggered if I can find a tone on it to suit me This on the other hand gave me no trouble Looking good for a 22 year old bass.
