1. Cracking bit of kit. All the sitting about yesterday just waiting must have been murder. Congrats on getting your dream bass.
2. Why do some folk say " tools of the trade,if it's not getting used it gets sold" ? In 30 odd year as a carpenter can't say I've ever sold any tools.Still have my "Yankee",at least 20 year since I used it but still got it just in case.
3.
Cool bass, congrats. Amazing there's no neck dive, with that shape. Well done Peavey.
By all rights it should dive like a diving thing. The usual cause like a large headstock is present and no upper horn extending to near the 12th fret !! Aye it's a puzzler ? No that I'm complaining mind
4. I'll admit to never giving these much thought, surprising since I have almost every Peavey model. They're aimed at the "Metal " crowd and that's not really me This Void had been on eBay for a while, actually thought it had went last week. I've a feeling it's come from the auction when Peavey UK closed it's doors and was either a QC fail or a return. It was missing the bridge pickup and control cavity cover. At £50 I'd hit "Buy it Now" before I realised it My Hermes have managed to snap the tip from one of the headstock horns but that's the extent of any damage. Good news was I had a spare pickup that fitted so 40 minutes after unpacking it was playing grand. Spec is maple thru neck with basswood wings so it's very light. 42mm nut and 12" radius rosewood board. I'd have thought they'd have went for 24 frets but it's 21 instead. Same 3 band EQ electronics as the Cirrus, handy if it'd turned out a dud as there's no Cirrus preamps left at Peavey spares dept. That should change if the Cirrus reissue ever happens. Only had half hour with it today and all seems well. Another surprise is the lack of neck dive, could be 3" strap I use but it hangs nicely. For £70 delivered I think I did rather well
5. Had some laptop memory in the recycle bit. It fitted Ian's machine and his local dog shelter got some grub. Fantastic If that's not enough to convince you of his bona fides just remember he owns a T40 as well as a Bass Collection. Obviously a man of great character .
6. Ah. It's a completely different shape the one I have.
7. How does the Concord II differ from Concord I ? Certain there's a broken one from a Concord I around here some place. Happy to supply you a tracing or .dxf file of it. Anybody with access to a laser cutter could sort one out from the file.
8. Cheers Painy. Very fair comparison, wasn't overly taken with the P/J 4 string myself, Since the OP's went with the Squier VM, it sounds like he's make a great choice.
9. Had no idea the nut was so narrow on the OPs' Vintage, 42.5mm !! Dirt cheap option could be the 5 string PJ from Thomann £108. At least it goes to 45mm. Painy on post #3 has one maybe he could give you the lowdown Or their Ray type model. Again £108 and 45mm nut. https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mb_5_sb_deluxe_series.htm
10. Couple of books here Bob. Both have Tab and if after the what ? 30-40 year you've been playing now, pub gigs get closed to non readers well the books also have the notation. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motown-Bass-Classics-Leonard-Corp/dp/0793588375 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motown-Signature-Licks-Guitar-Tab-Music/dp/0634015206
11. After The Tube did a piece on German Industrial music a band was quickly formed. My position was a sheet metal and various bits of steel, struck with a selection of hammers. Gig went great until probably 3 minutes in the power got pulled and curtains closed. Just ahead of our time :-)
12.
... and build an extension on the side of the neck.
OP already has a 5 string, it's the Vintage he says has tight spacing. I'm reading string spacing as issue not the nut width.
13. Aye £70 for the Schaller 16-19mm 3D bridge and £10 for a nut does seem OTT. Better off buying another bass. https://images6.static-thomann.de/pics/atg/atgdata/document/diagram/232336_tz_basssteg_3_d5.pdf
14. Fit a Schaller 3D bridge and cut a new nut from a blank.
15. Posting them to Shabbs on Monday. Completed Thanks
16. Rotosound Tru Bass 88 nylon tapesare G - 65 D - 75 A -100 E - 115 So 55-110 should not be a problem.
17. I've saw the term used on TB. How pressing "Buy It Now" or " Complete Order" turns them into big game hunters is beyond me .
18. Plenty of posts on the various HB pages recently have been about QC troubles. Seems there's a new factory building the latest models and they're not up to speed yet. Deco could really mean just that ATM.
19. Korg GA-1. Had it good few year and less hassle to use than the Behringer rack tuner.
20. Lots of American brands popular since the 60/70s are offsetting a sales slump by increasing prices. Harley Davidson is doing the same, up 10% I heard. No shortage of used basses on the market yet they still have to ship units. Reckon that's why you don't see vintage colours. Who'd spend £1500 for a certain colour when a used one would maybe cost £1000.
21. Timmo Sorry it's a late reply. I put an Entwistle Neo P/J set in my Peavey Zodiac DE. Found the Neos were bigger than the Duncan Basslines but it was an easy job to just swap the covers over. Seeing as the Milestone III has a great slim neck I'd say that was £40 well spent.
22. RESULT !!!
23. What's this about hotmail addresses getting flagged as fake ? Mine was accepted no problem. Now WTH are half set basses ? edit Classical guitar strings
24. This any good to anyone ? Couple of quid to your local animal shelter sound fair ?
25. Wished I watched this video before I bought mine. https://www.youtube....h?v=samNHsF2NhI DB that is, not the car
