Just bought an EBS MicroBass II ... very fast despatch & delivery, well-packed, good comms. All in all, a credit to Basschat. 🙂

I picked up a bass guitar for the first time ever on my 49th birthday, so I'm struggling to see your age as being somehow 'over the hill'. 😂 Now is a LOUSY time to be selling valuable kit. The market is in the toilet and will likely stay there for the whole of 2023, so don't sell nuthin' unless you're desperate. If you're working hours that make it hard for you to join a band, why not invest some time into starting your own band, built around the hours you CAN play. You're not unique ... there will be other musos in the same position as you; hopefully one will be a drummer, and another will be a guitarist. You never know until you try. And @Steve Browning is absolutely right. If you want to improve generally as a musician, learning to play keyboards has to be the best bet. It's also age-proof. Nobody ever pointed at a seated keyboard player and said, "Well that's not very rock'n'roll, is it?".

That's a very cool micro-rig. Do you offer a build service? 😉

But what can you get from the most powerful output on the power bank? Does it have a single socket that can deliver >1A?

I rather think not. I haven't used my Clarus for ages (it's in a box somewhere) but I don't recall it having phantom power and there's no dedicated XLR input on it. When I use my Nadine, I use it with an EA Doubler which is designed for exactly this sort of rig. They're discontinued but can still be found pre-owned. Alternatively you could of course run the signal through a preamp (or maybe a DI box?) which supplies the 48V, but in that case life is starting to get complicated. The Nadine sounds absolutely excellent, really lush, and looks way too cool, but it's not as feedback-resistant as their marketing would have you believe. For low-volume gigs where your tone is what you want to capture faithfully, Nadine is a perfect choice. For louder gigs and/or noisier environments, not so much. -
You're not seriously going to get back onto the bike? 😨 Giving up biking is one hell of a wrench (don't ask me how I know) but there comes a time when you know it makes sense. ☹️

Yes folks, it's true! You need the all-new light-weight cheap-as-chips disposable Stadium Stack!

Judging by the latest photos on their website, they now use knurled knobs/wheels instead.

Yeh, really sorry mate, it must have fallen into my trouser turn-up and I didn't notice until I got home ... -
Well, they don't buy them out ...

Apart from the fact that this is a horrible thing to happen to any bassist, what sort of plonker thinks that there's mileage in (and big money to be made in) stealing, of all things, a double bass? -

Wow! Not Suzi Quattro, then? -
Without seeing how you have tethered this to the end pin, it's hard to get a clear picture of what you've actually done.

Many users ask “What is HMPE/Dyneema ® and Dyneema ropes”? The short answer is that Dyneema ® is the world's strongest man-made fibre™. Dyneema ® is also called ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), used for manufacturing several types of ropes, slings and tethers.

Intriguingly, that link returns a 403: Forbidden Now I'm really curious! 😂

34" scale Precision tuned down SIX steps and you think it's the AMP that's woolly? Are you using the BEAD strings from a 5-set? I've done that myself and it works of course, up to a point, but IMHO there are few 34" scale basses that can properly deliver a low B, let alone a low A#.
-
Ah well, now we're "dancing about architecture", aren't we? 😉 I had three OTBs at different times, with an interesting assortment of preamp valves in them. I don't think the word woolly ever crossed my mind, so I'm not about to make great claims for what re-valving can achieve. Hell, for all I know you're playing a 50s Gibson through it with an enormous mudbucker!
-
I'm sure I have NO IDEA what you mean. 😂
-
Yes, but the Mk I Terror needs to sound how YOU think it should sound, and the originals had issues. Don't ask me how I know. Changing the preamp valve is a genuinely simple job and it opens a whole new rabbit hole for you to fall down. 🤑 Not surprisingly for a nearly 12-year-old thread the useful and informative photos are long-gone, but the text will still tell you all you need to know: And no, I have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA where those seals came from. 😂

A huge infuence on me musically back in the 70s. I always regretted never once getting the chance to see them perform Marquee Moon live.
-
Well someone was always going to do this ...

And that's EXACTLY why I bought a Buell S1 Lightning. It was simply the closest thing in existence in 1996 to a Black Shadow.
