1. But do you consider yourselves to be "musicians"?
2. I'm a musician when I make music. When I'm cooking, I'm a cook. When I'm shaving in the morning, I'm a shaver. Erm ... what's this all about exactly?
Yep, I hope it will sit upright on my knee. I hope.
I had no idea you were this weird.
4. Well that explains the tank top ...
5. Postage from Sri Lanka might prove a bit of an issue ...
6. One out, one in. He got rid of the Hofner in 1972, so now he's bought the T-Bird. (And I'm pretty sure it said Hofner on the headstock when I blew up the photo earlier. ) Whatever. Still a great story.
7. Sooner or later, Lozz, you'll run out of these. I bought a TH350 from Lozz a year ago. It remains my go-to head for most gigs, despite some very tough competition (Matamp, Demeter, etc.). Superb thing, and a snip at this price.
8. http://www.alikat.com.au/ Enjoy!
9. Almost certainly not a genuine Hofner. Headstock is the wrong shape, tuners are wrong, tailpiece is wildly wrong, wood used for top would be very unusual for a real Hofner, control panel doesn't look quite the part either. How does it play? If you like it then keep it in memory of your Dad.
10. Good to see that Hofner 185 (or Artist) slung around his neck.

12.
I'd say he was in the right ball park. Powermate 1000 MK3 go for around £1000-1200 secondhand depending on the nick and SX300 around £300 per pair. So about right.
Fair enough Crez, this is far more your area than mine!
13. For God's sake, will you tell Darren to put his cap on properly - he looks like Harry Enfield's wicked uncle!
14. Hmmmmm. It's hardly entry level so it needs a buyer with some serious PA needs. A rig built around Peavey and Behringer is not top-line stuff and pre-owned PA kit is always suspect. I think he'll struggle to get anywhere near £2000.
15. Love this advert, a great read, but are you sure this thing weighs 55kg?
16. Just get rid of that beard and all the grey hair and you could pass for 49 ...
17.
Now im no expert but I pretty sure there isn't any lava flows on mount vesuvius... etna maybe but not versuvius.

Now im no expert but I pretty sure there isn't any lava flows on mount vesuvius... etna maybe but not versuvius.
Good call.
18. Don't know how many of you remember Chris Bryant Music, the big shop on the corner of Charing X Rd with the orange signs? Those signs now read "Wunjos" and the shop is being refurbed right now ...
19.
I love you all- really - thanks. There was an early draft with a chapter involving a bass forum that might seem eerily familiar, but it got cut to a paragraph, and is only a glancing mention now. I did nick some horror stories off here and some other forums though - if you recognise yours give me a shout and I'll give you the credit.
Gotta tell you, even without that early draft the first couple of chapters contain enough Basschat references to qualify as 'eerie' ... I've certainly had a couple of belly laughs so far.
20. Not an eBay listing, but I had the pleasure of playing a Migma StarBass at lunchtime. https://www.wunjoguitars.com/shop/bass-guitars/migma-meister-starbass-60sused No truss rod and the neck is somewhat banana'd, with the bridge already as high as it will go, but still a very cool bass and sounding excellent. Looks a lot lighter than it is. Bit like picking up a Hofner Contemporary bass, with the hollow body lightness offset by a bloody great chunk of wood running down the middle of the body.
21. That has to be tongue-in-cheek, surely? I read it with a grin on my face, never occurred to me it might be serious. And don't call me Shirley. Edit: See also https://www.talkbass.com/threads/is-this-guy-for-real.1237982/
22. Is this original writing, or just "an interpretation"? I'll take this on holiday with me tomorrow ...
