1. That's a lovely piece of work, and the cracking of the nitrocellulose is simply lush.
2. But count your fingers afterwards ...
3. Mind you, it's a 4-string ...
4. Sorry to disagree, but that looks well over-priced to me. It's not that great an example, and the wear pattern on the pickguard doesn't convince me at all. YMMV
5. I've sort of stumbled into signing up (free, gratis, and for nothing) with Bandhub. Thought I'd look for guidance here, but I can't find a previous topic so I'm starting one. Is anyone else here a Bandhub member? Any thoughts as to usefulness / practicality? If the thinking is that people at their respective homes record something onto their computers, what is the SIMPLEST, MOST IDIOT-PROOF interface for doing this? You may have noticed a certain amount of emphasis in that last question. Before anyone points out the obvious, that it all depends on what I'm trying to achieve, I'm ... erm ... not trying to "achieve" anything. I've stumbled in here by accident and I'm looking for the lightswitch.
6. In all fairness, the confusing currency thing was hardly an English invention. During the 18th Century, when crowns, pounds and guineas were all still widely used in England, the French "improved" their own situation thusly:

Louis d'or (gold coin) = 24 livres, along with a half-Louis coin (the demi-louis d'or) and a two-Louis coin (the double louis d'or) (12 and 48 livres).
écu (silver coin) = 6 livres = 120 sols, along with  [sup]1[/sup]⁄[sub]2[/sub],  [sup]1[/sup]⁄[sub]4[/sub] and  [sup]1[/sup]⁄[sub]8[/sub] écu denominations (60, 30 and 15 sols)
copper coins of 1 and 2 sols: 1 sol = 12 deniers
6 and 3 deniers (the latter also called a liard) were also issued.
Confused? If you're not, then you weren't paying attention. Incidentally, a French livre was the thing most closely related to an English pound, although exchange rates moved up and down quite freely then too.
7. Chief interest for me would be that 8Kg weight ... that's a pretty sharp reduction on a ply bass.
8. IIRC, you tried my U-Bass at the Herts. Bassbash last year? And you just plug it through the PA ...
9.
Anyway. Back on topic. You may enjoy this one too Blue. https://www.youtube....h?v=eSDSand-6IY Gene Vincent on UK tour 1969. Touching, sometimes funy and other times quite sad documentary. The Teddy Boy thing was quite big until the late 70s I would say. Then there was a Rockabilly revival as it was fading out.
The rampant professionalism and extraordinary degree of organisation from 4:58 for the next eight minutes is simply breathtaking. What must the poor sod have made of the clowns he was working with?
10. You're more likely to find a buyer if you tell us where you are. Incidentally, I think it's highly unlikely that you'll experience "huge, ultra clear B-string response" from a 4-string P-bass.
11. £300 and 20Kg? You're 'avin' a giraffe. Think I'll stick to my Wharfdale WPM-1.
12.
For a honeymoon, I think you should push the boat out and go to Waitrose. Or Sainsbury's at the very least.
13. Ah yes, the sacred volcano Yourfingeryoufool ...
14.
By way of example, if I add the four selling prices of my 76 Gold top, 76 Explorer Ltd edition, my 1966 E-type and my Rolex GMT, they total £1,900.
In all fairness, the 1966 E-type suffered from dreadful neck dive. The XJ12 sat far better on a strap.
15. Coming soon - the Barefaced Modulator: Plug-in modules allow you to run any combination of speakers at any impedance just by selecting the correct module. WARNING! Incorrect module selection may result in brown notes and disintegrated bank balances.

17. They have a hole in the middle?

19. This band is nothing to do with me, but an advert like this in about 18 months would absolutely have my attention. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-player-wanted/mature-bass-guitarist-vocalist-wanted-for-busy-working-band-playing-early-60-s-rnb-rnr-blues/1210883017 If a Basschatter gets this, do let us know.
20. You really, really need to label those controls with Dymo tags. Be imaginative ... http://www.funklogic.com/palindrometer
21.
The idea of acquiring gear is to improve your sound, it's a constant process of upgrading and refinement, right? Only it's not, because your playing suffers as a result. The best way to improve your sound is to improve your playing.
Who are you, and what have you done with the real Discreet?
22. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Warwick-Streamer-Standard-Stage-1-5-string-Bass-Guitar-with-Hard-Case-/122312412099?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276
23. They'd need a brass neck to try that.
24. Hmmmm ... you'd always be scraping verdigris off your clothes, but it might come in handy if you were playing outdoors during a thunderstorm. Glad to see that no one has mentioned it being good for metal ... oh no ... wait ...
