No. But I owned #042 way back in ‘07/‘08. Would like to know where that one went. This one is #146 with Aguilars and the Sadowsky VTC. cheers Keir -

I’m moving to Shropshire from Scotland this week. Would be up for September 4th🙂 Doveridge is just over 30 miles from where I’ll be. Valenti jazz Fender Dimension Deluxe HH Musicman Cutlass (the P bass one) possibly a Lakland or G&L TC RH450 + 2x8” cab(s) - can’t fit bigger in the car cheers Keir -
I like StingRays but the USA Sterling is a better bass all round for me. Better neck, tone and ergonomics imo
-
iirc the Ray34CA all had 1.5”/38mm nut width and so do the Ray 24 basses. If you can find a 34CA get it. You won’t regret it. I only sold mine to help fund a rather lovely Jazz bass but I miss it and preferred it to the USA Classic StingRay.
-
Also when the s/h USA ones were maybe £250-£300 higher than a used Ray 35 it was likely worth saving the extra. Now the difference a lot of the time seems £600 or so which makes it a long way from clear cut imo.

Can’t stand the bridge plate on the Ray4/Ray5. looks terrible imo. great basses otherwise! I’ve owned three full fat USA Stingray 5s and three Sterling Ray 35s. Love the USA ones, the oil/wax finish on the neck and a ton of other stuff about them but when I switched to the offshore ones I didn’t really feel I was missing out on anything at all. If I had another I’d want the roasted maple neck with the satin finish and then strip the finish on the back of the neck. There’s also the older Ray 34/5 CA (Classic active) and the newer Ray 24/5 with the 2 band EQ and regular oval MM pickguard too. I owned a Ray34CA with the Jazz profile neck for a couple of years and thought the quality of fit and finish was superb on that particular bass. Keir

Is this an update on the B5 plus AS RM? the Element says it has got ash top on mahogany body and the electronics are Bartolini vs solid ash body and Bartolini pickups with Mark bass preamp on the AS RM. I would buy either as I’ve had really good ownership experiences with Cort basses. Think I’ve had six of the GB models (74/75/94/99) and they’ve all been really excellent. I still have a hankering for a B5 so will need to get to a shop and try one.

Or a passive USA Standard in blue😍

I had the Deluxe 5 HH before getting this. In retrospect I should have kept it as it was a superb player but I had some tough decisions to make with my gear and now it’s gone to another basschatter. I haven’t tried a single H and that’s hopefully my next port of call with these basses.

Haven’t weighed it but it seems a bang average weight for a bass. Sorry I can’t be more accurate but I can’t envisage any issues with it weight wise playing over extended periods of time Quite ballsy sounding. I like pos 2 and 4 on the switch the best but the bass sounds good across all five positions without touching the 3EQ. Thanks. Does seem that no matter how hard Fender try with new models, players only want the Precision and Jazz bass. Then to top it all, Fender get stick for releasing new variants of those just about every year. iirc I think I read/heard that this colour was limited to as few as thirty pieces and most ended up being shipped to Europe. Maybe that’s just a load of tosh but they do seem pretty rare.

(SOLD) Ray35 Sterling bass by Musicman
dub_junkie replied to Servecool1987's topic in Basses For Sale
This was my old bass and a lovely example it is too. A general feeling of being really well put together, and some other stuff that’s really hard to quantify, elevated it above a couple of other Sterling Ray 35s I owned during its time with me. Seller is a top fella too. Buy with absolute confidence. GLWTS! Keir- 2 replies

Liking the white/maple one with the white pickup cover. Looks ace even if it is back to front.

Pearl Blue Sterling which I picked up today. Been ten years since I last had one but enjoying the neck on this which was what I always liked so much about these basses.

Picked up a 2014 deluxe in the limited edition rootbeer finish. I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for these basses - they’re really very good! Going to try and source an H with rosewood fingerboard next. Specific I know but I want it sufficiently different from the one I have on all counts

I liked the black at first but the parchment white one grew on me.

I had two exactly the same (one with a crazy figured maple board) Both superb basses, I liked just about everything about them - I bought the two for gigging at the start of last year but then the gigs stopped. I then had a fresh round of GAS from being on here too much instead of playing and started buying a lot more basses. Somewhere in amongst all that, both Corts got sold. I raised the single coil and lowered the humbucker which helped a lot.

Classic StingRay (think it’s a 2014)
-
Haha possibly. I also have a set up with a 1x15 and a 2x10 but that doesn’t stop at my house.
-
I was looking to sell it this time last year but kept hold of my LTD RB-1006. I find it inspiring to play and for me, the low action offsets the wider neck.

^ that black M2000 looks great👍🏻 my own experience is that the LB100 sounded great and was a really well put together P-bass. (Neck was just a tad too big) and the JB had the 70s pickup spacing so it sounded (and played) sufficiently different to the JB-2 to warrant keeping it at the time. The blocks and binding looked great on it too. The Sonic blue JB-2 though was my ‘go to’ G&L. Everything was just about right on that bass. Will definitely buy another of those.
