  1. The red is lush. Not normally a fan of matching headstock with a maple board but that is one gorgeous looking StingRay.

If only I had the money Gerry. Probably abstaining now for the rest of the year after picking up another MM Sabre, the USA JB-2 fretless and back up Sire V3 all in the one week🙂
  5. Necks swapped back to how they were but pearloid guard from the Sledge now on the 3TS as I’m ordering a WD black abalone guard for the Sledge.

  8. Thanks Graham much appreciated as you’ve seen and noodled on the Valenti in person. Keir
  9. thank you those who expressed an interest in the Valenti. Now withdrawn! Made by Nino Valenti, NYC, USA. This bass is #146, as per the title and headstock facing, and the weight is 8.5lbs. Body is swamp ash with trans white finish, bound maple neck with pearloid blocks, Aguilar pickups and Sadowsky preamp with VTC vintage tone control. Hardware is Hipshot bridge and tuners, Superb player. Owned by me the last eighteen months and while I do love this Valenti, I currently have five jazz basses! Tentative feeler looking for a possible trade, first choice would be something by MusicMan eg Cutlass, Caprice, Sterling or StingRay. A Warwick Streamer Stage 1 would float my boat too. Maybe an extra special G&L (sparkle finish/flame top etc) Other basses considered too but please don’t be offended if they’re not something I’m into. Nothing with a 1.75” nut width I prefer rosewood or ebony boards to maple though not a deal breaker. Lastly I’m going to leave the ad up for a bit to see what’s out there. Thanks for looking! Keir
  10. Will bought a couple of basses from me and was a great guy to deal with. Both times he paid in advance and was really easy to deal with throughout. Didn’t meet Will in person but his mate came round to pick them up and he ended up sitting an hour chatting about basses, synths etc over a cup of tea. I hope to return the favour sometime and buy a bass from him. The last couple I enquired about had just sold. Keir
  11. My Sire V3
  12. Great price for a really lovely L-2000. I’ll message someone who I know is after one of these. Keir
  13. Bought during this past week from Embra of this parish, this JB-2 is a peach of a fretless.
  14. Bought a USA G&L JB-2 fretless from James which arrived today and is as described and perfect in every way for me. Fantastic instrument which plays wonderfully. the whole transaction was painless and James was a great guy to deal with. Very helpful and got it to me bang on time for my days off work. If you’re buying, selling or trading with James then do so with the utmost confidence. many thanks James Keir
  15. Prefer the StingRay when played finger style and slap. That being said the P bass didn’t sound worse just different and I’d be happy with either tone. Precision sounds better with the pick imo
  16. I couldn’t wait so swapped them last night and set them up so they’re both playing just how I like them. Overall I’m much happier with the look of both, just need a tort plate for the sunburst now.
  17. I played a pair of Tribute JB-2s with my last band over USA MusicMan,G&L and Fender basses which mostly sat in their cases. Same with an Overwater Tanglewood Aspiration Elite which was so good I didn’t play my Fender Dimension Deluxe 5 or G&L L-5500 (both USA) nearly as much as I should have. I would think Sire basses are getting a lot of playtime over much more expensive basses within players’ collections too for much the same reason that a good bass is a good bass at any price. Keir
  18. Bought this Sledge Sabre today which I’m going to alternate with my sunburst/maple Classic Sabre for upcoming band work. I’m thinking of a neck swap too and going sunburst with rosewood and maple with grey. Leaning towards that but will give it a few days playing them as they are first before deciding. Keir
  19. I just bought Eldon’s MusicMan Classic Sabre this lunchtime and after the bass was packed up, we had a chat about our largely similar tastes in bass guitars. Eldon’s been a great guy throughout and held the bass a few weeks for me to raise the funds for it. Great comms, super helpful and a really friendly chap in person. would be happy to buy/sell/trade with Eldon any time in the future. thanks again Eldon. This bass is fantastic and thankfully mine at long last! Keir
  20. Love it! 😍😍 Have a BUMP for the insane amount of birdseye on the neck. Keir
  21. 9 memory locations, 40 minutes loop time, onboard tuner function, boxed with instruction manual. Excellent condition with no issues £30 + 3 postage ppg
  22. My JB-2 addiction strikes again 😍😊
  23. I’m a big fan of the Sadowsky preamp with VTC on my Valenti Jazz. I like it so much I bought the SPB-2 preamp pedal for my passive G&L JB-2. The only thing I couldn’t get on with is was the pan control being pre-wired back to front. I understand why they do it just can’t get my head round it when playing so that was swapped back. As a side note I just ordered a second Sire V3 second gen. Was going to post up and ask about the relative merits of the V3 versus V7 but after buying my first V3 unseen, when I played it with the rounded over fingerboard edges, I thought that’s good enough for me! Fit and finish is excellent too and I like the preamp as well. Don’t really adjust it much though - only the pan control mainly Keir
