re: spaced out, Yeah, I know. 👍

Granted, that's a useable example. Would be interesting to try those in stereo. There's a few in the 8xxx series I see too.

Jon Shuker and I had talked years ago about putting a pickup underneath an extended ramp, but leaving a cutaway so the pickups(s) could be moved back and forth in the ramp, thus, no unsightly holes in the top of the body. (Yes, admittedly there are those who think ramps are ugly too and, I tend to agree when they're done badly!)

{Edited because I cant delete my own post}

Actually, scrub that. I've not used backline for ages, because, well.. IEMs.

Many years ago, whilst I was still maybe a bit wet behind the ears, I discovered that rather than taking two speaker cabinets stacked, I could take just one, angled up to face my ears. These days, I have a little stand that cost about a tenner that I can pop cabinets on so they face my lug-oles.

The problem comes when you buy blind and are unsure that the microphone elements can handle the SPL of a live environment. Even some unknown models that suggest being able to handle 120dB have fallen short in tests. I like the idea of at least using a couple of Behringer C2's. Cheap as chips and work.

I think the general figure of adding 28% on top of the cost of the item and shipping combined should cover all the additional costs to get it delivered to your door?
-
The H4n method means you can also place compression / limiting on each of the mic or audio feeds too. Your mix to your ears is also stereo. fwiw I also use two condensers when necessary and a stereo IEM mix is available. Actually, I would rather set up my own external monitoring than have to ever go mono again. Eurgh. p.s. I’d not recommend anything but decent condensers for ambience. SM57’s response couldn’t deliver the results I’d wish for, but even a pair of SE pencils will be brilliant. SE8 for example, but even a pair of SE X1S mics.

Oh yummy, my old drummer had a Ludwig Vistalite, very John Bonham! It was actually a great gigging kit, but I thought his Yamaha version had a better sounding kick drum.
-
I really like Evans! I used G2 heads and EMAD for my kick as I wanted something with a bit of tone to it, but when I get a kit again I might drop UVs on for a whirl. I'm a drum n00b though ha ha! https://www.daddario.com/products/percussion/evans-drumheads/drum-set/drumset-snare-batter/

Definitely!

P.S. I wrote about impedance in a Bass Player Magazine article a little while back
-
Also: The only time this *could work is if a head had two separate power amplifiers inside, like the Hartke LH1000 - in which case you'd be able to hang a 4 ohm cabinet of each separate amplifier output. Your other option is to source an amplifier that is able to handle 2 ohm loads. There's quite a few out there, but that will of course incur a financial hit.. but.. new toys is always fun
-
Simple answer, no my friend! The sockets are wired together in parallel, so it won't make a difference if you daisy chain from one cabinet to another, or come out of separate sockets on the amplifier, you'd still have your 2 Ohm total impedance load.

https://unitedplugins.com/UniChannel/ 78% off introductory deal. It's really rather good!

I’ve had a message through after getting this to say that I can upgrade to the full version for $29.99 .. we’ll, be rude not to! The free version is very good so I’m looking forward to installing the full product!

Thank you ❤️! I’ve actually been thinking about getting one myself for house rehearsal sessions!

@D'Addario UK cables are absolutely brilliant. I've used them for well over twenty years and the only failure I ever had was my own fault.

Montreal is brilliant, the footage is stunning. I've also got the Hungarian Rhapsody concert too. I hope that by some sort of miracle they can turn the footage from Wembley 86 magically (scuse the pun) in to glorious 4k UHD. Its my favourite concert ever, my musical bible and life long tuition "book".

Agree with both of the above! I like to use heavy compression before a drive if I want to have a consistent level of saturation - say, when providing almost "bowed" like sounds from my bass. Placing the compressor after the drive means that on low gain settings I can use the compressor to "turn up" the overall level when playing lightly. Digging in means I get the extra bite but the compressor evens the volume. I SO love bass gear! Even switching the order of pedals offers so many tonal opportunities!

Actually, now you mention it, I had some weirdness receiving subs on mine too. I wanted to comment on the latest subscribers, but it wouldn't report it back correctly, so I didn't bother. -
