1. I held on to this one for a while, But I have decided to let it go after all. I have the box and manuals too. If you are specifically looking for the red limited edition version, then worry not, according to the TC website all the patches are available to download on to this unit. The hardware between the two models is exactly the same, only the outer shell colour is different. Save yaself some pennies!

New Zoom B3

I played a gig on Saturday with my B3 again. Just brilliant. What makes me chuckle is that even if you were to just leave the pedal on your three favourite pedal effects and never change them, you *still* have three great sounding effects in one box that is cheaper than those three pedals available separately. Mostly for the weekend's gig I used a chorus, the great tracking Octaver and either a bit of Big Muff dirt and that was enough along with my 'preamp' set up. I think for the money, everyone should have one as a 'swiss army knife' of effects.
3.
Don't know about the LH1000, but having looked at the schematics I can say that the HA series has a fixed mid scoop on the tube input channel, basically a Fender tone stack without the pots. A
Yup that's true, the HA does - the LH is a Fender/Alembic a-like so has the 'scoop' programmed in when all the controls are pointing upward (as described in a previous post) - So it'll do flat, or a small mid bum in extreme settings but if the bass and cab both have scoops in their responses then it'll cancel out any mid boost from the amp.
4. From what I have read so far they are listed as a 'good HiFi speaker' and would probably be ok for rough mixing purposes as would any decent HiFi speaker. There's actually a set on eBay with an hour left right now for £50 with no bids. I looked at completed listings but no 727 models came up. You may be looking at sub £50 for the speakers alone. Not sure about the QED - I believe they were a big name too once upon a time? Hope this helps!
5. I use mine to record riff ideas on both guitar and bass. For acoustic guitar it's fine. I stand it up and record through the built in camera app. For bass, I plug in to my monitors or an amp just so the iPad can pick it up clearly. I've not used it for band recording yet, but my girlfriend has successfully recorded one of my bands playing shooting video on her iPhone. I think there's various apps out there that will make the job easier - my first thoughts are to look for a recording interface such as the Apogee Jam - but it's only a mono recording device. If you are looking to do band recording, then maybe there's a stereo option? I'm not sure!
6. Same for me as Phil's post. I really like the use of a capo - in fact any open or drop tunings too. Sometimes it sounds good to take a particular open tuning finger picked pattern and shift it higher up the fretboard. My 'go to' position for some reason always ends up around the 6th fret on my acoustic. I also transpose on the fly if necessary - except those days when I'm feeling really tired and everyone turns to laugh at the disaster unfolding in the corner of the rehearsal room ha ha!! Oh and dare I even mention that sometimes I have used a Capo on Bass? Mostly for finger picked or tapped lines that require certain groups of 'open' strings.
7. Firstly, have you updated or do you already have Mountain Lion on your Mac? If the answer is yes, then take a ticket and join the queue. There's quite a list of upset customers on the Line 6 forum with open tech support tickets for devices that are failing to connect, or drop out, or glitch since updating to Mountain Lion. I can run you through set up as I have a UX1 too, but it may not help if the answer to the question above is in the affirmative :0$
8.
Sheer class !
Thank you! I've really tried on more than one occasion to 'upgrade' to something smaller but every time I have put them away, I've had to get them back out again! Just sound wonderful in comparison to everything else I've owned. My studio monitors are a different kettle of fish mind, but for just music listening pleasure, the 733i's are brilliant.
9.
never used the pick ups but I did install a EMG EQ once, it was bloody awful and cost £120, total bland crap, think I've still got it some where, It might sound better coupled up to some EMG p/u's, free to anyone who wants to pay postage!
I guess it depends on what you need from an EQ. The EMG system is transparent and 'colourless' tonally, only providing boost and cut to the frequencies specified in the spec sheet. Therefore, if you send it a bland signal, then that's what you'll get out of it. If you replace it with a certain well known preamp that has a lot of colouring in it, then the EMG will sound flat in comparison. I've heard people reviewing the likes of the EBS Multicomp calling it flat and lifeless too, but again, this is a really transparent pedal not designed to colour the signal at all - i think the same applies to that too. I put EMGs in to my first serious bass many years ago (about 20 I think!) and I've always used them - even when I tried something else, I've come back to EMG. Yeah, great pickups - powerful. I really like that you can make EMGs sound old skool easiliy if you want, but it's much more difficult to get an old skool sounding pickup to sound like a modern EMG. As for guitar pickups - If they're good enough for Dave Gilmour - and of course my fellow LickLibrary tutor and (sometimes band) mate Andy James, then that's a pretty good endorsement I reckon!
10. Mission were and are still in the 'HiFi' and Pro Audio market. Mission have produced studio monitors in the past but more recently seem to be concentrating on the home audio / cinema market with cheaper hifi kit. I still have a set of 733i floor standers that I use for everything that my studio monitors don't and have to say they are awesome. Without pictures and model numbers it'd be impossible to tell the worth, but unless they are top spec, don't expect too much i'm afraid. Compare prices on eBay and gumtree when you have the model numbers (or compare visually) - mostly found on a label on the back of each speaker.
11. Definitely a quick option and a possibility. My mate Andy suggest Dave Hall too. Great paint jobs, but I've never been a fan of the hand written stuff on the casing. That aside, no one would see it on the board anyway. Price is good, I might just ping him a message too!
12. Heh heh!! Yup, I do want the world! I'm investigating the options to be honest. I've seen inside the Mosquite so I know that it's tight using discreet components. SMT would work, but cost may make it pointless for a one off - I don't know. The schematic is actually very simple.
13. Hey all - I have my trusty Boss LS-2 but I'd love to go down the 'Micro Blender' route, rather like this awesome little pedal, the One Control Mosquite Blender: http://www.prymaxevintage.com/one-control-mosquite-blender-foot-switch/ The size is perfect as well as the wet/dry mix, phase switch and bypass button. What I would like on a pedal as well is not just a wet dry mix, but actually two level controls like the LS-2 so I can have a dry level boost cut as well as wet level boost cut. Anyone know of a company making such a pedal? I appreciate even for these active pedals it's a squeeze for the few transistors - hopefully there's room for a few more or even someone out there making a SMT version? (tiny components, basically) If not, i'll need to find a work around. Look forward to hearing back from y'all! Doooood
14. The GLX / Harley Benton 'boss-alike' Graphic Pedal is a clone too - rumour has it made in the same factory with the same components. for £20, it was a bargain and works well on my own board. Think Thomann stock them.
15. I've quickly skimmed the thread - It caught my eye as an avid Hartke'r. It's funny as I found that with my own bass, I had lots of upper mids from the rig but my bass having a slightly subdued lower bass 'bump' meant that I craved a bit more in that region. Actually a simple EQ pedal did the job nicely to boost that region. Interestingly, my passive basses were the opposite and I had too much low mid! Another thing you could try, that won't break the bank is to use a different preamp valve in the LH. It's a safe operation to change it, similar to changing a lightbulb. Depending on model you can alter the sound of the amp. The great thing that I love about the LH preamp is its simplicity and thus, changing the valve can change the character of it's sound too, sometimes dramatically. My two current favourite valves, both found to be useful for vocal mic preamplifiers are (premium) GE 5751which is a very clear sounding lower gain valve. Mine is some sort of high grade one. I have to say,'a 1958 black plates triple mica' and it gets a quiver from the back row at valve conventions heh - but, my 'chuck it in and sound great' valve is a JJ ECC83S (premium and drive tested). They have a natural bump in the upper mids that really seem to make my Shukers sing - way more so that the more standard Sovtek 12AX7WA (or electoharmonix rebadged version) you find factory fitted in a lot of preamps these days. If it's a troublesome frequency, then maybe look at a parametric EQ pedal. Boss used to do one as does the likes of Carl Martin among others. this would allow you to accurately pin point that mid bit you want whilst at the same time zoning in on other areas of your tone too. I'd suggest that you could boost a bit around 1Khz - 4 Khz to help you cut through guitar distortion and cymbal sizzle too.
16. You'll be fine, I've never heard of a problem with this on a modern bass.

They sound amazing!
18. Mmmmmm! Lovely jubbly! Thank you so much for posting the voucher code. I would like to buy you a beer should we meet at a bass bash, AM! I've just order up a Green Mile, Blade and Pure Boost. I will set them in my LS-2 loop and hopefully, all going to plan, pull my Boss Metal Zone out. Oh wow, Mooer should REALLY do a mini LS2 for us bass players, that would be the best pedal!! Right then! here's to the 15-25 day wait!

New Zoom B3

Thanks for the replies guys! Yup, I've got it set to Active - I'll go have a look, I may have missed a gain setting as I haven't had the board out since last week, being busy elsewhere. I too have an 18V EMG system and I am running a few pedals before the B3 as well. Maybe there's some extra boost happening through those too. I'll investigate further and get back to you guys! Definitely clipping on slap passages though and I am sure it is neither the head, bass or pedals separately. - I have to say though, it won't clip with any of my other basses. I know that EMG circuits can be pretty hot!

New Zoom B3

Has anyone else been able to clip the input of the B3? My Shuker basses have a good strong output level and if I boost my bass EQ I can get an ugly clip noise when slapping for example. There's no global input gain control it seems!
21. He he! Sorry KillerFridge
22. It's a pity isn't it! I'd love there to be more wanting to take up bass. It was a point I brought up with my business advisor when I started teaching and he was concerned about getting in enough students. I therefore feel very lucky to say that I have a packed teaching diary filled with awesome bass students! I work bloody hard to make sure I give the best lessons - Hmmm, maybe it's because too many guitarists teach bass as a second instrument? Does this put potential students off? Certainly one of my own students felt that he wasn't getting as much out of lessons as he does now, because the tutor 'dabbled in bass'.
23. I think the biggest manufacturing disaster was not putting enough strings on the first electric bass - see what it has done to people's perception of bass guitar today! What an epic fail
