1. I opened the link and had to retrieve my jaw from the floor - that PB70-US/ASH is gorgeous. It'd go very nicely with my own PB70-US that I have in black.

SE X1 Shock Mount?

Thanks guys! That's great! - I'll take a closer look when I have a mo' later!
3. I've just bought a Roland Quad Capture - absolutely rock solid drivers and the latency is very low. I'm replacing my Line 6 UX1 due to Line 6 making a pig's ear of the Mountain Lion Mac drivers throughout last year rendering my interface unusable. If you're on a Mac with the latest OS, avoid like the plague. I was deciding between the Focusrite Scarlet 2i4 and the Q-C. The QC won.
4. A very quick question for you knowledgeable studio types! I'm being a bit of a cheapskate and wondered if there were a cheaper solution pop shield / shock mount / mic stand for my condenser rather than the official SE version? Are they usually a generic size? Thanks all! Great lil Mic, I'm really impressed. Doood
5. The Kilo is an amazing sounding amp though - I'd been playing through other amps recently (gig provided ones etc) and on getting back to my Kilo, there was a noticeable improvement in tonal girth! They just have that weight in the sound - perceived girth and guts - whereas a lot of D Class amps for example can go loud, I've noticed they can sound thinner in comparison. That's my honest view.
6.
I hope it's not a discount - I just purchased and downloaded a few days ago.. Must say that it is great, very easy to use and the bundled sounds are very usable [Orchestral, Jazz and Rock] Easy to import Sibelius and Finale files using Music XML files with good results, leaving all the articulations intact. Nice clean PDF export as well. Has Sequencer style MIDI underlay, so you can do velocity style editing. You can also import Audio files into the project, and export the score as an Audio file as well as MIDI or XML. With Sibelius being up in the air at the moment after the takeover, i just went for it. Garry
Not a discount this time but we've recently blogged about winning a copy: (Now closed) http://blog.basschat...ith-rockschool/
7.
If you want to go to £83.00 [download price] new kid on the block 'Notion 4' It comes with a very nice sample library - And all the Instruments are mapped out to staffs, so no setting up. It is very easy to use and has Jazz fonts as well as all the usual engraving fonts. All dynamic and articulation markings are mapped to the samples, so you will get a great idea of how it will really sound. Especially useful on Orchestral or Big Band arranging. I have been using Sibelius up until now, but not sure where future upgrades are going now that the London office has been shut down. http://www.notionmus...ts/notion4.html Garry
Look out for some news on Notion 4 soon. We are going to be having a look at it on the blog!
8. Oh! Just found this one too! Taken outside, you can see the metallic finish with the purple on the horns and the green over the back of the body. No trickery here, just an amazing colour change flip paint! - Why did I chose flip paint? Because I couldn't decide if I should have a green or a purple bass!
9. Here flipped to green so you can see the paint in action!
10.
Doods basses are a bit of a special purple colour but I can't find it atm
Here's a quick picture for now, taken from the article I wrote for Bass Guitar Magazine about Shuker Guitars back in June 2011. The bass and it's matching headless 6 string that Jon and I designed are actually 'flip paint' so they change from a rich emerald colour through blue to purple depending on how you hold them in the light. Indoors they mostly look purple under incandescent light.
11. Magazine link to the current edition of iGuitar with the TC reviews in it - again this will take you straight to the free magazine reviews and videos. http://licklibrary.ceros.com/iguitarmag/issue14/page/117
12. EBS written review with link to Mag and video: http://www.iguitarma...cl112-cabinets/ and shortcut to the bass section of the mag for that edition: http://licklibrary.ceros.com/iguitarmag/guthrie-govan-guitar-interactive-magazine-isse-13/issue13/page/150
13.
Nice one Dan but where are the LINKS!!!!! navigating the GIM channel is like a trip to hell so much stuff. sorry mate for the mini rant , having said that I love your reviews
I have to agree! it's difficult to find a list of bass gear reviews per edition. I'll ask to see if we can get that changed. I'll see if I can find the necessary links - in the meantime, here's the page that allows you to access every magazine free of charge. http://www.iguitarmag.com/magazine-editions/
14. Oh! And then I'm back for "ANOTHER GREAT REVIEW OF THE EBS SESSION 60!" Further down the page too!
15. I was just looking for the answer on the EBS page about the pedal here: http://www.ebssweden.com/2009/products.htm But more over - I wasn't expecting to see ME on the EBS website!!!! Look underneath at the review of the Reidmar! (Click the picture to read the review for free)
16. Ha, I'd like to apologise for going wayyyyy off topic - but I suppose the video may help with comparing one of Billy's other 'tone generators' I suppose. Yes, I'm looking forward to getting this pedal too!
17. Excellent amp head! I've been playing with my Kilo this evening - it's a big girthy beast!
18.
That's what I was thinking, I've seen your photo albums on facebook
Ha ha ha! Yes and that hasn't got all my recent purchases in either mate!! Speaking of which, I've just had my Hartke Kilo out on test with my pedals. I'm going to set up the BSP as well to run up in the morning too. I've been using a 5500 for a bit, but forgot how damn good that amp sounds - i'm thinking of chaining the BSP up with it to see how the two pair together. Hmmmm... Not really a single pedal solution! It'll weigh a ton... But you know, these experiments have to be tried!
19.
Thanks for the detailed explanation there I love having different things to try out! I listened to it through my AKG headphones, it felt like I was getting a big low frequency hug around the ears And I know what you mean about pedals, You have to use at least 2 or 3 just to get everything you need most of the time! Seems there's a lot of options out there at the moment though... This year will be the year to experiment for me!
Now that i like!! That's what i want from my bass in a band! Yeah, i know what you mean. Now, i love pedals, but It'd be a dream to get my 'core tone' in one box. Maybe that MS-50B will help solve that one! For now, it's a bunch of pedals blended together and the BSP if I want to use a rack. I think i'll probably be experimenting too... Oh who am i kidding? Of course I will! I change my gear more often than my socks he he he!
20. I've reviewed both in Guitar Interactive Magazine. Check out the video reviews for more details and to hear them.
21. I have an MB800 too. Thing is, channel two isn't really channel two. It is a separate gain stage yes, but only in as much as it's still controlling the same FET preamp which isn't really designed to go crazily 'over the edge'. Having said that, with the input pad set to off and driving it hard with my high output active EMG bass electronics, it distorts yes, but really not in a way that I like. If you are after more grit, i'd suggest using a bass distortion pedal like the highly recommended Darkglass B3k or B7k or the Catalinbread SFT.
22. Ahh cool! Excellent! It sounds much better through decent earphones/speakers.. Bit thin on my iPad! Lol thank you though. IIRC, i'd have added an 'only just noticeable' amount of chorus effect mixed in - usually about 15% wet to add a certain sheen from the TC G Major 2 in the rack. The rest is as you say, just the BSP dirt and clean channels mixed together. Thinking about it, I may well have taken the clean post valve signal and fed it back in to the clean fx return thus bypassing the clean channel EQ. I have a feeling I'd done that as I'd only be duplicating exactly the same passive tone stack plugging in to the front of the LH1000. [/geek] Yup, I'm yet to find one single pedal that can replicate what I need in a single box. If TC can fit a 5 minute looper in to a tiny casing and Mooer can domthe same with a whole range of pedals - i'm bemused why so many pedal makers spend lots of time cloning the same distortions for bass players all the time. He he!
23. I can see the vid ok, how 'bout you now? Changed the setting from private.
24.
Ah, it says the video is private. Thanks though man!
Oh? Hmmmm... Odd! Will see if I can change that!
25. Found it - this is the Ampeg BSP version, so it has 'that' character about it. I have more low mids in the clean mix now. This ad-lib is quite obviously ad-lib! Oooops!! http://youtu.be/wJPlsco2Eno
