1. Cheers Stevie! I'm expecting a change in tone, but that could be said of the likes of Tecamp / Barefaced / [insert lightweight cab manufacturer] if they'd opted to included an 18mm birch ply cabinet version too. Yup, it's a weight saving decision solely. Having looked at the 4.5xl vs the 410xl, even a change in cabinet dimensions but using the same materials saves aroiund 13kg! (both cabs use the same 10" drivers). I could even look at doing a lightweight version of the 410 xl; yes i think it couod suffer tonally, but i hope it'd still maintain the Hartke Alu character but at a substantial weight saving. It'd also be a fun project. It's funny, i was thinking - we spend so much time effing with our basses with new pickups, hardware and construction as well as modding amps - why not mess with a cabinet or two as well! I think if i get started, i'll merge these posts in to a build diary. Oh and i might just stick wheels on the cab too for a laugh!
did someone on here not have one for sale not so long ago?
Chuckles "did"
 3. Diamond, just what I wanted to hear. I need to do a cutting sheet with the details for them and then I'll ask for a quote. I think this could well be a 'do-er' as they say! An interesting project, but at the same time a way to test a theory. Can I make my favourite cabinet even better?
 4. Actually, I take that back - P basses do offer a wide variety of tones and can cover any style of music.
 5. I love my P bass - I love my Jazz Bass Special. I'd never gig with them by choice, only if it was specifically required for the job. i.e a tribute act or if I got the call from Brian May.. P basses - Nothing wrong with them at all - but they are a bit like a screwdriver. They do one thing really well. For me, I like to take a swiss army knife out to shows
 6. Thanks again guys, this is looking promising!
 7.
Ok, ok, stop turning the thumbscrews I've just ordered one!
Congrats! You'll love it!
 8.
no toolshed? where do you keep your erm, you know....things?

Fixed.
Ha ha ha ha - I keep my 'things' all over my house. I'm, not confined to keeping things in one room. Grumble mags? Nah, I have a hotty for a girlfriend
 9.
Just out of interest Dood (and not to scupper any sales here on BC), what is it that makes you so interested in the BCB-60?
Partly laziness! ha ha - I like the option of having everything neat in the box with the PSU and 'in/out' sockets in the corner to just plug in to. I will be using two or three boss pedals in there too, so it seemed an obvious choice. I looked at the Behringer offering as well as even the Harley Benton boxes for a budget alternative, but the space 'front to back' seems a bit short in comparison to the BCB. It's a fast and dirty solution to carrying my pedals - and knowing me I swap things around often!
 10. Excellent! Thanks for the posts guys! CM, did you take any pics of your modded BCB? I'd love to see them, it might give me some ideas! SD, brilliant! Thank you! - So all I could do with knowing is if the lid will fit on if I pop the B3 in, which I measure as 6.5cm in height including a gap for the pedal buttons. I've a Nova System too, but I really don't think that would go in! ha! I'd probably take the foam out and replace it with a custom mat if need be - should I need to shift things around a bit or include another non-boss pedal. All being well, I could be interested in your BCB, SD. I'd love some pics and mebbe a guide price PM'd? Cheers! Doooood
 11. They'll CNC cut for me too? Now that's going to make things very helpful! Sadly, I don't own a tool shed or the necessary cutting tools. Construction of the parts would be a much easier job for me!

Not sure it's DIY though.
"DUDE!! Your playing was on FIRE tonight!!"
 13. Does anyone have a Boss BCB-60 effects pedal case? I've a few boss pedals that I would like to mount in one (that's the easy bit) but I'd like to know what the H / W / L dimensions are in the pedal mounting area. I'd like to mount non-boss pedals on the board too and wondering if it's 'doable' before I go ahead and look for a second hand board. Ideally, there's enough room for a Zoom B3 in there!
 14. I haven't tried an EXP pedal with my B3 yet - though I'm really impressed with the B3 on the whole. It's really easy and super fast to set up.
 15. Thank you Balcro!! Dooooood
 16. I've not got a BDDI to compare, but there's this to check out on youtube:
 17.
Not really sure about a budget. The Magma one is £500 + delivery + import duty so I'm guessing it would come in at about £700. I'd say I'd like to spend £300 but I would stretch to £400. As for Line6 stuff, I've got a PODxt with the bass add on and I don't really like it. It doesn't sound "alive", it sounds dull and lacks punch. I have POD Farm as well and it sounds the same. The BDDI and the M80 look like the kind of thing I want, but they seem to lack the fullness/saturation that I'm after. I'm only going by YouTube videos though, so I might be wrong. The M80 is definitely the closest so far though...
Sorry to hear it, but I have to say I can get waaaay better sounds out of Pod Farm than my M80 - It does need fettling with, yes - but I guess if you really want to spend £300 then maybe look at modelling plug ins instead of you have a decent interface? Start with Ampeg's SVX for decent amp sims for example. If it's also just for demo purposes, then I think the Line 6 stuff is quids in - you can spend the change on other toys
 18. In all seriousness though, is it pretty easy to get hold of the lightweight ply that the 'boutique cab' builders favour?
 19. http://line6.com/podstudioux2/podfarm.html Pod Farm software for the interfaces mentioned.
 20. If it's for just recording decent bass tones, then I would highly recommend the Line 6 GX, UX1 or UX2. The newer models (with the black front, not red) come up really cheap second hand and give you full access to essentially a recording interface and a line6 X3 in a small box when using the Pod Farm 2 software included. (Amplifier and cabinet sims, distortion pedals, choruses.. Too much to list!!) I've got a UX1.
 21.
the single best bass chords book I've found is this one: http://www.amazon.co...y/dp/0825610583 By mucho respected player Jonas Hellborg. Really easy to follow diagrams and a logical layout. £3.83 on Amazon. If you don't find it useful I'll reimburse you!
'ello again.. Mmmm nice cuppa... Anyway, YES! I have this book. It's brilliant and fits in a guitar case. Jonas once gave me a personal demo of his crazy bass rig and equally crazy bass chops. Nice chap lol!
 22.
ooh, I see what you did there - very canny! I can see I shall have to keep my eye on you...
Whilst you were typing, your cuppa just went missing. Nomm!
 23.
Is it still considered DIY if you're having one made? thought not [/pedantry]
heh heh, I guess not, but it draws the DIYers in to have a looksie!
 24. Hey! It is lined with the usually wading 'stuff' - seems quite ample in there too. I think I'll pop one of the drivers out at some point for a snout round to see what's what. On a bit of a tangent, I know the 410XL cabinet (standard weight 32Kg) uses the same drivers, so I was even tempted to clone that box and drop the 4.5 drivers in. but I think the 4.5XL has a deeper tone to it. I love the idea of rearranging the drivers to aid dispersion - that sounds like fun - The reason for keeping the same dimensions was to make fitting existing hardware, such as the grill straight on without having to customise or purchase new. Keeping costs down in the long run.
