1. I'd expect that you'd have to order enough strings to make the cost of shipping worth it, but not too many that you go over the customs and excise threshold.(which will probably make you cough up for VAT Annnnd the admin fee added by the courier. Usually around 8 quid. I'm guessing that would be one set of bass strings and thus, more likely to save money by going to the likes of Stringbusters or Strings Direct?
2. Trades to included a Boss Ls-2 and possibly a BCB-60 plus cash my way.

Well, I've ordered one anyway, I guess I'll find out soon enough!
5.
Yep use as required & if you want a cheap recommendation = http://www.amazon.co...43323277&sr=8-1 works beautifully, simple & it works on 7&1/4" radii Fenders
Yes, the Planet Waves capos are brilliant. I've even used mine to only fret a few strings on my 6er or 7er, which opens up some really interesting melody ideas with drone notes.
6. Let them both come on to BassChat just after one of the big bass shows such as LBGS. All of a sudden they'll deny having ever used it, let alone being inventors of the technique!!
7. Funnily, I have just started teaching a fantastic chap who is in exactly the same position! He has been playing drums as well as singing but wishes to learn the bass. He has pretty much said exactly the same thing to me. Which isn't a bad thing. It's a great place to start. I'd recommend shopping around for a teacher that suits you and take 1-2-1 lessons ( as well as the great advice you will recieve on BassChat.) There's a great deal of mileage in finding a good teacher. There's so much to learn that you won't find in a book that a good teacher with experience can bring. I say to all my students that I won't be offended if they want to try out different teachers. I do work hard to deliver an exciting and informative experience though! Anyway, good luck - there's so much to learn from BC alone, but lessons from a pro' is definitely worth it to ensure correct technique, posture etc etc and of course teaching you all you need (and want) to know!
8.
@macdaddy - pics should be posted this weekend. I'm at Jon's on Saturday - iPhone in hand @LukeTessie - I think you're right and I agree re rushing. So far nothing has persuaded me they're not worth the wait, the quality:price ratio is astounding.
It's also worth noting that Jon had been going through a bit of a rough patch health-wise last year that substantially added to the build time. He doesn't mind me saying this, though the details are unnecessary - it was enough to slow him right down though. He tried his best to keep on top of orders but had to put a few builds back a bit. He's certainly done a brilliant job at catching up with the work load and I still have every confidence in him and the quality of his work, that..well, it speaks for itself. Amazing!

Unless I were to decouple with a capacitor? My other thought was to break the circuit at R009 (1M) and use a switch to feed a +ve dc to keep the fet engaged all the time using a simple toggle switch. Would this work?
11. I've just bought a speaker cabinet from Jon. Delivered very well parcelled in a swift and friendly transaction. Great communications too. Thanks so much!

ELECCY TECHIES! I WANT YOU! http://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/s/schematics/boss-mt2-metal-zone-schematic.gif Hey guys! I've just taken delivery of a Boss Metal Zone pedal from that rather fine chap Mr Foxen. I really like it as I can dial in some really smooth middley distortion that I will mix with a clean signal - a bit like an MXR M80, but..well.. actually better due to the semi-parametric EQ. Now whilst I have been playing today I have started pondering! I *could* use an fx/looper pedal to mix in my clean signal with the output of the pedal OR I could see if there is an easy mod to do this in the pedal internally. I don't wanna wreck the pedal - it's a peach, but maybe an SPST switch and a couple of cables that could feed the clean signal to the output all the time. I've found a schematic and have been able to figure out the following: 1) Q003, top right of the diagram is essentially a mute switch that engages when you turn the pedal on. 2) Q009 (LHS) and Q002 (RHS) is also a mute switch that engages when you turn the pedal off. Thus in a flip flop kinda action you have state 2) when the pedal is in 'bypass' and state 1) when the pedal is on and you hear distortion. So here's my logic - there must be an easy way to ensure that no matter what state the pedal is in, you can bypass the action of Q003 so that with the pedal in bypass or activiated, the clean signal (bypass) is always present at the output. Now at the moment my feelings is that around Q003 there is signal with DC and thus bridging the FET is a bad idea. An easy way to do this?
15.
One of my favourites like this is the Boss MT-2, it makes an absolutely LOVELY Fuzz. Liam
I've just taken delivery of one today! I can see it being very useful blended with a clean tone.
16.
I use an X3 Live into a W-Audio 1U digital power amp and it's a great setup that at the moment I set and forget, but if my tastes change in future I've got an arsenal of amps and sounds to choose from. Definitely recommended.
My tastes seem to change on a regular basis... Oh deary me, why did i get rid of my X3 lol!
17. Yup, bin the presets annnnnnd make sure that you had the unit set up for running in to a power amp. There's a setting in one of the utility menus to specify what you are connecting the POD too, which changes all the amp sims to suit. Infact, I'd go as far as to say spend some time with the manual. It's actually pretty helpful because there's a lot of things going on under the bonnet lol! I have used a Bass Pod Pro and also the X3 for a number of years running straight in to a power amp too. Set up properly, it can sound great. Set up badly and it can sound muffled and indistinct!
18. Oh dear! It seems whilst stowed in my cupboard safe n' sound my moggy has been using one edge as a scratching post. It's not pretty and therefore I am knocking another tenner off the price. I may give it a day or so and withdraw the cab.
19. I would most definitely have said yes if that day was free in my diary!!
20.
The Tecamp Bad Cab. 2 tweeters, 4 tens, 2 twelves and 2 fifteens. 2400W power handling but if that's not enough it's available as a special order in 8ohms, so you can use 2 with most amps. Edited: forgot about the tweeters.
I actually think this cabinet is wonderful! - I mean it's the height of OTT! I know that the techies amongst us have a field day over the common-all-garden 4x10 and it's vertically aligned drivers - but this? Ahhhhhh it's enough to make their heads explode with frustration. This is a beast that wasn't designed with phase alignment in mind, rather levelling houses and I bet it sounds awesome!
21.
Interested in your opinions- you tried the Puma 1000 or 500 (or I guess 900 now) what you think of them?
Sadly and it pains me, i've not had an opportunity to try out any of the Pumas myself, so I'm unable to answer! I understand that models *did* and maybe still do? Use Powersoft amp modules. I've owned a Powersoft power amplifier and it was fantastic. I'm not sure what it is that makes an amplifier deliver that weight or girth in sound. The ability to deliver high current? Driving a speaker with balls? Not sure, but the powersoft delivered lots of weighty punch. I wonder if the Puma does the same?
