1.
Not a bad little rig there - brilliant value! The 210 looks like a Goliath Jr...
It looks a lot like the Goliath Jr, yes. I imagine it either replaced it or was replaced by it or is basically the same either way. Here are some stats on the Goliath Jr Impedance: 4 or 8 ohm models available Power Handling Capacity: 350 Watts RMS Sensitivity: 105 dB SPL @ 1W1M Frequency Response: 105 dB SPL @ 1W1M (-3dB @ 45Hz and 15KHz)
2. I'm based in surrey. I'm willing to drive out a bit or arrange a courier if its absolutely miles away.
3. I'm open to trade offers, I have nothing in mind so try me. I've had this since 1999, I was 18 when I got it and hadn't been playing long, so I didn't learn much about it, but there's not much to know. It's very simple and reliable, and loud. It's been to many gigs and practices and it's pretty rough around the edges, many scratches and dents, and my cat used it as a scratching post for a few years so its kind of fluffy up close, but it works PERFECTLY. If it's the sound you're after, its a great rig. I had the fan in the head swapped from and on/off to a low/high. ================================================================================= Here are the details I could find out, I can't figure out which model the 2x10 is, if anyone knows more details, feel free to contribute. 4. I'm surprised too, but I know how to help you out. I'll start saving for it, then the day I have enough money, I'll come online and someone will have just bought it before me. Seriously though, I think it's possibly to do with courier more than wear and tear? Also it's a very slow market at the moment. I was reluctant to courier basses but I've done it twice now and it was OK. I thought it would be a huge pain in the arse and risky but it wasn't, and you can get advice off friendly bass chatters on the best way to do it.
5. I had a 57 P, the neck was a little wide.
6. I've got an SB14, top top quality. These basses are £700 or more new, and they feel like high end basses.
7. pfft, verbal agreement? You've got more than enough permission! I showed a bass on ebay to my wife once, she said 'that's nice dear' So I bought it, and when it arrived, I told her she SAID I should get it! We're still married.
8.
I did think that price advice was kept to PM rather than public comment ?
Yes it should be, to keep things fair. Also basses go for too little too often on here.
9.
I think they do need to earn the right... but then nobody can tell anyone h6w to spend their money. And I think the point is more about how capable the bass is as to how easy it is to outgrow one... Too many cheaper basses are firewood, but that is not to say you wont find a decent one... or that it does all it needs to do. By the same token it is not impossible to find poor firewood basses at £1000-1500 either... but you'd hope they would be able to be set-up well enough to negate this to a degree...otherwise, I can't for the life of me seeing that they are charging those prices for...
I guess my view is that if your bass is good enough it's good enough right? And good enough should be pretty nice, but beyond that, it's just about Gas. We all get GAS for things we don't need so who can judge... Well we all can, and we all do, but we should acknowledge that we're being unreasonable before we continue doing it anyway:) (when I say we, I mean me)
10. I think we can all buy whatever we want, I don't think anyone needs to earn the right to play an expensive bass and you dont outgrow an inexpensive bass.
11. Bought a tiny bass of him yesterday, I enquired about it at around 3:45 and by about 7:30 he had swung by my workplace with it wearing a tuxedo! I got to take it off to band practice at 9:00 and it held up pretty well! Cheers
12. I don't think I would ever spend a grand on a bass, there are just sooo many great basses under a grand.
13. Man, surprised nobody bought this. I'm after a ray35 and I love the white ones but I already bought a bass last month and an amp this month... ...Nobody buy this!
14. I'm pretty sure I read he makes them. And when I complimented him on them he said thanks and that he gets a lot of good feedback about the pickups. I'll try to find where I read about them before
Does he make his own? If not, anyone know what he uses? Or maybe this can be specced by the buyer too?
15. I'd be 100‰ proud to rock a limelight logo, even if it's the sharpie from the back of the headstock.
16. I just think there's no magical fairy dust that means this guy cant make a great fender shaped bass as good as they can. I don't care if he puts a limelight logo on the front, I'd still play mine. If someone asks me if mines a real 70s fender I tell them nope. I like how it looks and I like how it plays and I like how it sounds, shiny new P basses don't look right to me. His pickups are really good too.
17. I got a limelight 70s P. It does sound fantastic.
18. Those were the answers I wanted too btw! I didn't want to hear that it was a huge pile of crap.
19.
The answer is obvious - give up work!
'Some guy on the internet told me to' is all the justification I need!!!
20. it WAS the one on facebook! and it is the bees knees. thanks for filling me in with more details. much appreciated.
21. Just bought me a naughty rickenfaker The brand name is 'custom' its very well built and the details are bang on except for double truss. Anyone know anything about 'custom' as a brand? It's incredibly hard to google!
22.
Nice matt... does it eat the food you leave out for it?
haha!! no thats for the dog, its not mine, only the bass is mine, that was the day I had it delivered to my work, and the girl who sits next to me brings her dog in with her most days. I don't think the alpen is for the dog though, I think that's hers. On a side note, the day that bass arrived I got some last minute changes dumped on me and had to stay till about 9:30 when all I wanted to do was go home and play that bass. Last friday I had a GREAT 70s rickenfaker delivered and the same damn thing happened!!
23. Nice! Limelights are the business. Got mine this year..
