1. That's a great price for a guitar that good!
  2.
Voila! No: 00139, elle vit!
Ooh! Hot potatoes! Makes me want to put a parchment plate on my old candy apple tokai P and bash it about a bit
  3. For me, putting a schaller 3D Bridge on my precision made very little difference, but a nice very little difference.
  4. Here's a quick loop I made with mine. All the sounds are from that bass going through a looper pedal. It's only a phone recording, no direct input. But yeah, they are very nice basses! Retrovibe vantage 5 with tc looper: http://youtu.be/xY4uzYfaCO8
  5.
Cheers! It's been #1 since I got it, which - considering it's a J - is remarkable...!
Your limelight recordings are the reason I bought a limelight jazz. I already got a precision from him, didn't think I wanted a jazz until I heard how great yours sounded.
  6. I got the new vantage 5 in white. They're good! Really good, but I'm selling mine too, because a sandberg 5 string I wanted but missed before came up for sale again.
  7. These REALLY are as good as hes saying. Also hugely comfortable to play.
  8. I got 8 but I want to get rid of some. I'd like to mainly stick to the limelights. Limelight precision Limelight jazz Tokai Hardpuncher Tacoma Thunderchief 'Custom' rick 4001 copy Retrovibe vantage5 Sterling SB14 Godstone Microbass
  9.
Are those both Limelight's ?
Yup. The precision is quite early and the jazz is new.
  10.
That's the best looking Jazz I've ever seen. Is it Capri orange?
You're not the first person to say that! First was me, then another bass chatter. I got a pantone code for a shade of orange I liked and Mark made it for me. Not sure if there's a name but Capri is close enough.
  11. it arrived!! im still at work though, need to get stuff done before i can take it home and play:(
  12.
IMHO, that's the nicest Jazz I have seen.
Cheers, I was pretty confident it was gonna look good in that combo but I didn't know for sure until he sent the photos.
  13. This ones arriving tuesday... limelight .
  14.
A bit late to the show but here's mine, a 1970's Precision replica. Wanted a maple neck so I had one made in the end. Kept looking at that one though... very nice!
  15. Man, the classic vibe range are top quality, I'm sure this is an awesome bass. I sold my CV because I didn't like the tomato soup red that was available at the time.
  16. My Tokai Hardpuncher from 1981 is f***ing magical. It's got the classic vintage precision tone. It IS a vintage precision really.
  17.
Do the necks have rolled edges on these?
I don't know what that means, but it says hand rolled frets, I don't know what that means either... is it the same?? what does it mean?
  18. Heres mine the day it arrived at my office...

    SOLD

My friend bought one the same off basschat a few months ago, he loves it. I've seen his and the red is beautiful, I don't think these photos show how great the colour looks.
  20.
Does anyone know where he sources the necks? Necks make or break a P bass for me, I'd hope they are top quality because I would like a limelight.
All he told me was 'scotland' so I don't know what that means about the quality. The quality of mine is ace.
  21.
I'm led to believe that the Artist Series Squiers like the Matt Freeman Precision and the J Mascis Jazzmaster are at least as good as the CVs. They're certainly all made in the same factory in China, whereas the VMs are Indonesian-made IIRC. The Matt Freeman in black and the CV Precision in Sonic Blue both interest me more than any of these new ones.
Is the blue CV precision still around? I could only get hold of the tomato soup red one... I got a Squier Mikey Way mustang for my sister and it felt more Vintage Modified level than the Classic Vibe I had, but I haven't tried those other ones you mentioned. I just found out there's an olympic white Matt Freeman P! Wish I knew about that when I got my tomato soup CV.
  22.
You may have come across some of my posts. I loved mine, it didn't feel quite as 'upmarket' as the various rays I've owned, cheapo chrome work etc but nothing too bad, and had a coolness of it's own. It kinda felt like generic Korea built type basses. Sadly mine had to go back as the neck was hugely unstable and had terrible fret sprout and a shockingly badly made neck/fretboard. Not a problem used, but I payed full new price cause I wanted the colour scheme/thin neck. I'd try another in a heart beat though.
Wow, sounds like you got a real stinker!! I have a used SB14 that I picked op for 395. Definitely feels like a bass made for the £700 pricetag. It's built very well, and the ray34ca I picked up in the local guitar shop was the same, very very good neck. My luthier was also very impressed with the neck on it when he set it up for me, he said it's one of the best he's seen on any instrument. I would be tempted to find a used EBMM rather than buy new, but if you can find one used, it's incredibly good value for money.
  23.
I've always thought that block necks should be accompanied by binding, and reserved for Jazz basses. Always looked out of place on a P to me. And, although I'm a massive fan of b/b/m precisions, doesn't the Matt Freeman model fill that particular niche and price range?
It depends how good the matt freeman one is... is it vintage modified kind of quality or up to the classic vibe standard? my classic vibe precision was ridiculously good.
