Lovely bass but, nope, I just can't live with...
chrisanthony1211 replied to TrevorR's topic in Bass Guitars
Had a beautiful MusicMan Singray slo edition, loved the neck profile and the sound, but it had the HH configuration, just too many choices and I found that the neck pickup was getting in the way of my plucking figures, probably my dodgy technique, but bloody irritating! -

Doubts about 1976 Fender Precision Fretless Originality
chrisanthony1211 replied to rainforest's topic in Bass Guitars
You want a photo like this one, this is a pot from my 71 precision which I recently traded on bass chat 304. The maker of the pot, 304 is stackpole 71, year on manufacture 16, week of the year it was made. Doubts about 1976 Fender Precision Fretless Originality
chrisanthony1211 replied to rainforest's topic in Bass Guitars
Below is a 76 fender precision headstock, I would never trade for a vintage fender unless I have had photos of the neck stamp, pot serial numbers, and pickup serial numbers, you can date from these, the pick ups look good I would certainly want the pot codes to be sure. -
On the face of it these seem to be very similar combos, both light weight, both small, both pretty powerful, both packing 12 inch speakers, I currently have the Mark bass with the extension cabinet which is a pretty awesome combination of lightweight and power, but i find myself wondering whether the Tecamp may deliver a little more, and also it is available in the 212 combo, has anyone got experience of using both of these combos?

Sandberg California TT, tobacco burst, soft aged, ebony fret board :-) It's been a very good week. .... -
Good choice, isn't the purple one on here one with Lane Poors, would be my ideal one i think the purple flake and Lane Poors, I'd be slightly jealous though
I think it was Seymour Duncan's, and it's been withdrawn, but I shall keep an eye on it! -

No lane poor pick ups, but still sound emense with the Seymour Duncan's. I am in the market for flea number 3, I've got permission from the boss, and funds from the loan sharks, next up is a flea with the lane poor, anyone selling? -
Are we talking Modulus Flea here? The swap with the Fender would suggest so, but two of them on a week? That's nuts!
Yes, thats two "modulus" fleas in one week! A vertiable circus as discreet very kindly pointed out, and I managed to stay out of the divorce courts, I was tempted by Chiliwailers very nice purple flake! I wonder whether the loan sharks can stretch to another couple of grand! At only 70000000.99% interest rate, seems very reasonable to me! Got three new basses in six days, that's gotta be good going, new Sandberg California TT arrived on the Wednesday, a trip to to Stroud on Sunday to pick up a Flea bass, and then met Jack on Tueaday to trade my 71 Precision for his Flea bass. That's two fleas and one Sandberg incoming in less than one week, and I've somehow managed to stay out of the divorce courts! I wonder if I could make it a hat trick of fleas, that's almost a flock! Or a gaggle, or a herd, or a pack, pride, murder, etc!

Did a trade with Jack for his flea bass, he had a very long drive! Top bloke and a great bass which was as described. Highly recommended.

What strings on your graphite neck?
chrisanthony1211 replied to chrisanthony1211's topic in Bass Guitars
I've done plenty of research and it came down to chromes, which are currently on, DR lo-rider nickel, or GHS pressurewound, and I've just ordered the DR lo-rider nickel wound, I was very tempted by the pressurewound and may try them next time, I was also tempted by D'Addario nickel wound as they seem to be very cheap! -
I got this lovely pair in separate deals this week, best week ever! What great basses these are, I just need a purple flake now!!!!!! :-)

I've just put some Chromes on my new flea bass and "BOOM!" That's his the spot! -
I've now gone through my "vintage" stage and I'm now looking to trade my beautiful 1971 Fender Precision for your Flea bass. Considering the age of this old girl she is in pretty good condition and comes with all original chrome covers and original case. I bought this from the original owner who played functions in the 70s until he got a "proper" job and put in under the bed! He had swapped out the original pick ups as one was dead, I sent it off to Aaron Armstrong, the son of legendary "Kent Armstrong" and he fixed it for about £30! So this is all original except a bit of solder and one or two copper wires! Rosewood fretboard, sunburst body, tort pickguard, truss rod is nice and free, and currently strung with TI's, Neck pocket stamped Jimenez & T Chambers Pot codes 3047116 (16th week of 1971, stackpole) Pick ups stamped 5191 (19th week of 1971) Pick up cavity stamped R Dominguez Neck stamp 5 05 71 B (may 71) and a beautiful B neck! Neck plate 317741 Weight is 8lb 2 This girl was put together in May 71 Also comes with original case! she's a beauty! Regarding your Flea to trade, i'n not bothered about the colour as long as it's not "blue Sparkle" and would rather the MM pickup rather than jazz style. Thanks for looking
