1. What about this little baby! https://www.musicstore.de/en_GB/GBP/Glockenklang-Blue-Soul-Combo-Duo-Neo-8-Ohm/art-BAS0008044-000;pgid=42MgsYgTVupSRpx2aQ8TtRej0000H86IxEzK http://www.glockenklang.de/en/products/products_bass.htm
2. We tend to compromise because we can't afford what we really want, this is not about what you've got, but what you'd have if money was really no object! I have stumbled across the glockenklang combos on my travels around the web, the blue sky and blue soul, not quite sure what the difference is, but they look pretty great, and have a hefty price tag to match!
3. What combo would you get, regardless of cost, but which gives best power to weight ratio so you can haul it around to gig and rehersal, and obviously a great sounding rig too!
4. If I didn't already have a blue sparkle, this would be mine! Can't recommend these highly enough, I wish I never talked chilliwailer out of selling his..... I could well be interested in taking that lane poor though, I've Pm'd you.
5. I have been considering this set up, what are the uprated buttons you mention?
6. I can only talk from personal experience, but I currently have three modulus necks which are first rate !
7. I've had a couple of status in my time, I had one of the early stealths, one big slab of graphite, which although had no truss played beautifully, I sold it when my daughter was born as I never thought I'd play seriously again, big mistake, they never come up for sale! Although I do love a status, for me, I think Modulus just edge it!
8.
You need to try a Moses jazz bass neck then.
Accepted, I've not heard great things about Moses necks which is why I've not tried one!
9. After many many years and many more basses, and at the risk of being a little controversial, I've finally decided that graphite necks are where it's at. My experience is limited to status graphite and modulus graphite necks, and various musicman, Sandberg, fender and overwater basses, but not only do graphite necks stay in tune regardless of temperature changes, but they look cool, sound fantastic with no dead spots, and I've come to the conclusion that they can actually feel more organic and natural to play! In short, I do love a bit of graphite!
10. It's certainly not done my GAS much good seeing all that Mesa goodness listed all together!
11. I found this whilst researching my gas, hope it helps!
12. If you don't mind the weight these are insanely great combos, very very loud and great sounding. When Peavey first introduced these they were well over 1K. I sold mine on basschat for about £300 so he's probably asking top dollar, although I never had the foot pedal with mine!
13. Have a flea bump on me, I've been through plenty of basses in my time, but there's something special about a flea, great basses these!
14. I had the red head many years ago which was simply the best sounding combo I've ever used, it was just lacking a little power, now the super redhead!.................mmmmmmmmmmmm
15. Mesa boogie M6 carbine combo.........but is it just toooooooooo heavy??????
16.
Excellent idea!! I should follow suit. Find a favourite bass and fit different strings pickups to the each
It's only now that I have three identical basses, set up identically, that I see just how much difference the strings make to the feel and sound, but it is nice to have my favourite bass with the different characteristics that those strings give me!
17. I think there will be another to complete the collection, but it will have to be something special, either the lane poor pick up just to see what all the fuss is about, or some particularly sparkly paint job that I don't already have!
18. Would it be a greedy to have two black one? A funk unlimited just come up for sale on basschat .........
19. Would it be greedy of me to own 2 black fleas????
20.
Very nice. I still miss my silver sparkle flea modulus. Do you find much difference in tone between them? I can imagine that the excellent build quality and tolerances may make them also identical audio wise?
I've got different strings on them all so they all have quite a different feel and sound at the moment, they really are great basses and I'm addicted!
21. Thanks to 40hz for the latest addition to the family!
22. I bought Simons Modulus flea bass, he is a scholar and a gentleman, he met me at a motorway service station to do the deal, no nonsense seller and deal with confidence.
23. These are great combos, is this one made in Italy?
24. Great amps these, I personally much prefer these to the Orange! I only sold as I changed to the CMD121p with an extension cab for greater flexibility, but these are great, silly loud and silly lightweight. Have a bummmmp.
25. I've been through a lot of high end combos in my time from Mesa walkabout to SWR redhead, and power to weight ratio the CMD121p is by far the best, not necessarily the best sounding as I've always felt that the SWR sounded the best! But sounds good enough!
