1. I can't believe how cheap these are, if they were just a bit lighter they would be top $$$$$$$$$
2. I was quite fancying an early 70s jazz bass to match my precision, however I've read a lot of bad stuff about the fender micro tilt design in the 70s, is it all that bad? Are the necks really that unstable? I wonder whether they may have been better in the early 70s, and then as fenders quality control got worse in the mid to late 70s, so did the application of the three bolt neck. There is obviously nothing wrong with the design as the reissues with the three bolt necks seem to be quite good, so it was the application which was the problem, any experiences with these would be appreciated.
3. Have a Bam bump, great sounding and extremely loud! I had the combo which was superb !

6. I've put the original tweeter back in, the horn sounded good at low volumes, but at rehersal volume I found that because it was not a perfect fit, it seemed to chuff a little with the air escaping around the sides, probably because theses things create so much internal pressure air leakng from places that they shouldn't do is not a good idea, anyway the original tweeter is back in and I just turn the VLE up a little to eq out the hiss, this is still a brill combo, I've got through a hell of a lot of high end combos over the years, and regardless of the annoying tweeter, this is still one of the best overall packages.....particularly when paired with the NY extension combo, maybe when Mark bass do their next upgrade they will allow you to control the tweeter like you can on the extension cab....
7. This is pretty weird.....what is the great big lump on the back of this bass..... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mystery-Vintage-Fender-Jazz-Bass-Guitar-Perhaps-some-Modifications-/391088290402
8. Horn turned up today and installed. Simple enough job,..rehersal tonight to give it a good blast, I may even take my NY extension cab........mmmmmmmmm
9. Thanks for the advice, I've just ordered one from ebay for £10.......can't go wrong for that price if it improves the sound..
10. I'm wondering whether there is any benefit in splitting cabs to either side of the stage rather than stacking them on top of each other? Will splitting the cabs up to either side of the stage produce a fuller sound or would you be missing something by not stacking them, I can't say that I've seen people splitting their cabs up but it seem to make some sence to me.......
11. So many great jazz basses on basschat at the moment, if i hadn't just ordered a new sandberg California TT.......great price and a beautiful looking bass....
12. I have disconnected the tweeter on mine and I'm so pleased to have got rid of that annoying hissing.....are there any other alternative horns that could be fitted other than the HT30????? I don't mind spending a few extra £££ to get the best result!
13. Well I've had this for a few months now, and I'm very hay with this little fella indeed. The amp at 29 lbs is easily loud enough to keep up with the rest of the band at rehersal and small/medium gigs, and just throw the extension cab underneath (which also weighs 29lbs) and I'm pretty much good to go anywhere. I really can't fault these amps at all, I've had a lot of high end amps in my time, and for me, this is the best all round package that I have ever used.
14. Hi Jonathan Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. It looks as though our drummer will be staying with us afterall, thanks for your interest though, all the best. Chris
15. One of these on eBay (with photos) , is it the same one?
16. My mother had carpel tunnel syndrome in both wrists, after sleeping in slings for ages she eventually had surgery which sorted it and she hasn't had problems since, and that was about 15 years ago.
17. Having recently sold my precision I've had a great big wad of cash burning a whole in my pocket just itching to be spent. I really liked fleabays rather splendid aged sandberg TT advertised here on basschat so visited the sandberg website and found their excellent build your bass configurator, anyway, I ended up ordering myself a new soft aged california TT in tobacco sunburst, and ordered it with an ebony fretboard, purely because it was within my budget, (I was very impressed with how much bass I could get for my money although a four month waiting time) My point being, I've never played a bass with an ebony fretboard, what's the deal? It obviously looks pretty cool, but does it feel/play/sound any different?.,
18. Hi, i play in a funk/groove band and it looks like we have just lost our drummer, Although we have been practising in Sheffield we have had a couple of very good gigs at brass monkey in Nottingham and could possibly be flexible where we practise, our band web page is in my signature and there are a couple of our songs on there. We play mostly covers by deep Streep soul, the new mastersounds, phat Fred, the grits, Alan evens trio and cookin on three burners, let me know if you're interested Chris
19. Just found this thread, hope you like funk, this is pretty new band. https://missioncreep.squarespace.com
20.
DEFCON is an inverse scale, 5 is the lowest 1 is the highest.
The DEFCON system was developed by the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and unified and specified combatant commands.[2] It prescribes five graduated levels of readiness (or states of alert) for the U.S. military, and increase in severity from DEFCON 5 (least severe) to DEFCON 1 (most severe) to match varying military situations.[1] I think this nicely describes my interactions with Mrs Anthony when buying new gear is on my mind!,,,
21.
the principle of forgiveness being easier to obtain than permission.
I used to go this basis, however Mrs Anthony is running out of forgiveness
22. I must be doing something right, I've just ordered this...... :-)
