I've had a couple of status graphite basses in the past, a stealth and a Classic S2, and I'm picking up a modulus tomorrow and have started to think about what I'm going to sting it with, I like playing with flats and have been advised that Thomastik flats sound pretty good on a flea bass but I'm open to suggestions, what strings are on your graphite necked bass and how's it sound and play?

Free Sandberg bass with your boxer shorts!

I actually bought my boxer shorts on line from Germany and got a cracking deal with the pound being so strong against the €, no UK companies could get anywhere near the price! -
I just recieved my custom built (took seven months!) Sandberg California TT today, and sat at the bottom of the gig bag was a pair of Sandberg boxer shorts, so I thought I'd do a quick review. These are pretty well designed and finished to say that they are mass produced in some Chinese factory and not hand made by a small European or US boutique manufacturer. They are nice and light, certainly no ancher, and made from 95% premium book matched cotton which will certainly help "the wood!" breath, with 5% elastane and extra room in the crotch for that added comfort. Machine washable at 30oc and double white go faster strips around the top for that added styling. The finish is faultless, a deep, almost translucent black, with absolutely no threads to be seen, double stitched and one size fits all, it really is quite remarkable build quality, and the attention to detail is second to none, they must have exceptional quality control in place. I'm really looking forward to doing my first gig in these, they also have a nice logo to the top of the right leg "always by your side, Sandberg" These very fashionable, well designed boxer shorts may seem a little pricy at £985, however if you buy a pair of these, you do get a free Sandburg California thrown in, I think that's a pretty good deal as their basses are pretty damn good too!

1974 Fender Jazz Bass *TRADED thanks*

I didn't realise you couldn't see more of the pictures via the link, here are the rest. I thought that the pick guard was unlikely to be original, he listed the pots as being original until I pointed out that they were from 1983. The pick ups look good to me? Obviously a new nut and a refin and refret, I thought the case looked period correct and in good condition, obviously no neck stamp which would be correct for a 59 aswell! I'm was tempted to get this with the view of returning it to its former glory, I even found some 59 pots for sale! The weight of this is 7lb which made me think that this would be ash, I think that at this time fender were only using ash on blondes, which would mean a gold / tort pick guard and a good blonde refin!

eBay bargain, 1971 Fender Precision all original buy it now for £950, very good condition, I bit his hand off.....

They're expecting it to be in the shop and ready to ship next Wednesday, the biggest problem is that I've had so much time to wish I'd gotten a different colour, or spec, I know I'll love it though once I finally get it!

ETA was May........I think they've been busy, I'd rather have the wait and for them to get the build quality right, but with so many great basses around and 1k in my pocket it's a constant temptation, they said it should be sent out next week :-)

How long is too long to wait for a new bass? Been waiting for my sandberg since January.......a grand burning a hole in my pocket when there are all these basses that want me to buy them!

I have a P bass, I have a J Bass, I don't have a PJ, am I missing out, what's the deal with these, are they worth having? Are they really the best of both?

Sandberg have recently changed the design of their California series, what are basschatters thoughts on this new design, Hit, Miss or Maybe.........
-
Not got my Sandberg yet, been waiting since January for my custom build California TT tobacco sunburst with ebony fretboard, it should hopefully be ready in the next couple of weeks. Anyone seen or tried the 2015 California's? There are a few differences with the new models and wanted to see what people think?

Mint (WBW) pickguards on vintage Precisions
chrisanthony1211 replied to chrisanthony1211's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks, I think that answers my question, they were available in 1960! Really love the way these pickguards age to a mint green, very beautiful ! Im actually eyeing up a 59/60 precision at the moment with three ply white pick guard and wasn't sure it was original as all the ones I could find on the web had the gold aluminium. It could fit quite nicely as the serial number puts it 59/60, slab neck and no date pencilled on the neck which is correct for the period! If they started using these pickguards around this time too.....
