1.
I would compare them more to the original Volkswagon Beetles - didn't change or improve despite everybody around them building better items. Stuck with drum brakes and the engine in the boot they did not evolve. Same with Fenders - same crap electronics and wood from the 50s till the modern day, only recently decided to install active p/ups where others have used these since the 80s. Supposedly market leaders - basically selling square wheels!! Quality Control is merely a concept rather than reality! Some might argue that Fenders are like Porsche - I don't think this is the case as Porsche improved over the years. I think you may have guessed that I'm not a fan!!!
Square wheels? Whilst I agree that they ain`t the be all and end all of bass guitars, most of the best music up to about 1975 was made with Fender bass guitars. I have owned lots of Fenders but I also own and use other makes. Can you not come up with something original as we have had loads of topics that go "Fender`s are crap, discuss". Jez
2. Regarding postage. It`s a major hassle for me and I would rather sell locally. Cheers, Jez
3. I wonder how many pieces the body is made from as I can`t see any joins It doesn`t look like a genuine Fender sticker on the headstock so mabye it`s a copy? Sorry, I mean hybird. Jez
4. EH Nano Clone chourus pedal £20 Behringer Octave pedal £13 Soundlab pedal power for 6 pedals. It`s Maplins own make but it works just fine £10 All the above are in great condition and have had little use, hence the reason I`m getting shot of em. I would prefer collection on these items. 5. As mentioned in the bass guitar section, I bought this Japo from CC a few weeks ago for 50 quid. Cosmetically the body and headstock have some "character" lets say but it`s all been done in the course of duty! None of your fake relicing here! It has a couple of holes on the back which I assume were done when someone had moved the strap button. It`s all original as far as I can tell apart from the control knobs and the input jack that I have replaced. It sounds really good, the first 5 frets have some wear on them but its from 1983. I have fitted some barley used Rotosounds and that along with the new jack is why I`m looking for the extra fiver. It`s on the heavy side as well. I`m only getting shot of it because I find it ugly and I won`t use it. It is what it is, if you want a shot, drop me a pm. £55 Jez
6. As was said earlier, the next one! Which should be on saturday all going well with Mr Finance. A G&L L2000 tribute, sunburst with maple neck. As I will be skint after buying this, this will be the one bass. Jez
7. Liked Imelda on Jools tonight. The last time I watched her on the program, her bass player was playing an upright but tonight had a nice white Jazz with a rosewood board through a TE stack. Simple but effective. Jez
8.
Isn't 300 (+ P&P) a bit too much for this?
What makes you think that? Could it be that the bass is a pile of crap with a dodgy paint job, the strap is held on with gaffa tape and worse than that, the knobs don`t match!! Jez
9. Thanks for the nice comments. It`s unusual for me to get a bargain as I am the worst person in the world at buying/selling basses. Some nice looking basses Geoff and KB. Up close my T1 looks pretty beaten up (reliced? No shag*ed!) but like I said, it plays really well and if you get a chance to get one cheap, go for it. Jez
10. Totally covers. Not intrested in doing original material at all. Jez
11. Detailed shots of the bass (alone) to follow. Boo, Boo!!! Is there a bass for sale? Oh right! Where do you find these women in deep and darkest Argyll? Jez
12. Donald is that you selling off my old basses? If it`s not, have a bump! Jez
13. Really good price for a Jazz. Should go soon! Jez
14. I was in the local Crack Converters the other week and they had a Westone Thunder 1 for £50!! It was a bit tatty cosmetically, the body and headstock was well chipped but was informed that it played ok. It was very mucky with some tarnishing on the brass bridge. I walked away and after being out the shop for 10 mins, went back and got it. Gave it a good clean, new jack socket and strings, a bit of a set up and it plays really well! The neck is in very good nick. It has a very high output for a passive bass. It`s pretty ugly but it`s got a certain charm about it. Bloody heavy though and as far as I can tell all original (apart from the control knobs which I put on) from 83. Jez
15. Check this one out. A cv with upgrades starting at £500!!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SQUIER-CLASSIC-VIBE-...=item27b596c62c You`ve gotta love a dreamer.... I think I`ll buy it. Or else I could jam my bo*loc*s in the front door. Jez
16. CC Music in the West end of Glasgow do the Jim Deacon models but I have never played one so I can`t comment on them. Here`s a link. http://www.ccmusicshop.com/electric-bass-gid-EB.html? Jez

18. Have a bump mate. These basses have a simple 2 band Eq but sound fantastic. Stick on a set of Status roundwounds, crank it up and watch as the guitarist`s face melt! Total bargain for a Status. Jez
19.
due into the UK on the 19th October, would think they'll be about £550 ish, not bad.
That`s not too bad a price. Not a bad spec as well. I like it lots. Jez
20.
Well NOW I just want to see that paint job
Your wish is my command. When I said a Halfords paint job, I meant that I used their car paint. Satin black if I remember right. The preparation took ages (10 mins with a sanding block!) and the actual paint job took, oh, 5 mins each coat. And it got about 3 coats. I have no patience whatsoever for painting. I had to go over it after doing the paint with T cut as when I was playing, the paint was coming off the back and going onto my jeans. Sod painting anything again! Jez
21. Farmer is bang on with the Hercules grab system. I had 4 at one time and they are ideal. More expensive yes but cheaper than paying to have the bass fixed when it falls onto the floor. Jez
22. The VMJ (the natural one) is a really good bass that I have gigged quite a lot. I have never had a CV so can`t say if one is better than the other but I have never had any problems with mine. Having said that, it appears that they are subject to the usual Fender quality control issues. Some are great and some are sh*t! Although, that is more than likley true of most volume manufacturers. I have upgraded mine with a Gotoh bridge, Wilkinson vintage tuners, Fender logo, black Jazz plastic knobs and dodgy Halfords paint job. If you get a good one, it will do the biz for you. Jez
23. Tasty looking bass. What`s the script regarding Sadowsky`s? Am I missing something regarding this bass brand? Jez
24. That E bay Gibson is really tasty. I like how the guy says he knows nothing at all about guitars but thinks that the saddles may have been changed. Jez
25. Go for the DR High Beams as Bubinga says. And get rid of the foam!! Once you stick on these, expensive but worth it strings, your sound will be transformed. I can only echo what has been said, P basses genrally sound kack on their own but wind it up in a live scenario and they will cut through the mix, as they say. I have tried almost every knid of bass, active and passive but keep going back to the P. I have Status Half Rounds on mine and like the sound I get. But, mabye the sound aint for you. If you are happy with the Schecter sound, why not stick with it and keep the P as a back up or move it on? Jez
