ISTR there was somebody on here who had a SR Premium with 12 piece (i think) multi ply neck. I think it was a 2600, or something ?

Switches are eq on/off and three way mid frequency selector Controls are Volume, Balance, EQ controls Bass, Mid, and Treble are cut and boost. The Nordstrand pickups with that circuit is very versatile, but very clear too. Very fast neck with 16.5mm string spacing and 38mm nut. The matt finish is almost velvet-ty Walnut/Panga Panga/Maple top - African Mahogany Body An Atlas 5 five piece neck made from Panga Panga/Purpleheart with KTS Titanium Rods. Bound Panga Panga fingerboard. Looks a bit like wenge, but not as hard. More details to be had on Ibanez's product page

For all my moaning about my original Ibby SR1305 Premium, I've been missing it after I sold it. So, something very similar, but more towards the "Dark (wood) Side". Thanks to Guitar Guitar I now have this SR1355B-DUF Premium in Dual Mocha Burst Flat. It's the same old, same old for me Nordy Big Singles, same 3 band EQ with passive switch, and 3 way Mid frequency switch, but no gold tuners or bridge (which I only think work on some finishes, so yay me !) The matt finish is different for Ibanez. Very warm to the touch. Everything is as it should be, though I'll possibly drop the string height. Incidentally, FYI Ibanez now seem to supply Premium SR's with a reasonable Gigbag, rather than the soft/hard case of yore. I'm well pleased

It not only looks great, but there's a bit of an optical illusion (for me anyway). The scratchplate seems "sunken" rather than being on top of the body.

You could try this demo version of GK Amp 3 Pro The paid version is great $99, but a lot cheaper during sales. There's also a cut down version, GK Amp 3 LE That's $39, also with a demo version. I know they're not free, but for what you get it's good value if you like the Gallien Kreuger bass sound. Just a thought

.......and after all that I chickened out, and in the words of Pat Travers "Go For What You Know" and went for This Ibby Sorry for wasting everybody's time

I agree. No plate would mean all sorts of bother. It looks good though, be even better when your plate arrives

Thanks How does it look sans plate ? Usual screwless rugby ball shadow ?
-
Thanks. Do you have a link for him ?

Almost ready to pull the trigger.......I think. @neepheid has your see through scratchplate arrived yet ? How much was it ? (PM if you don't want to put it up here)

Thanks all. It will still feel like 45" compared to my Ibanez's 38mm Still thinking about it. The last 5 I had was a Ibanez SR1305 premium, which I now regret selling, but had to be done at the time. I think the bridge spacing was 16 - 16.5mm

I've been having a look at the 5 string version of this. It says the nut width is 45" Does anyone know what the string spacing is ?

That's hurting my brain, please take it away

Johnnie Walker's last radio show now on BBC R2

I remember when he first left the Beeb. We skidged school at my mate's house to hear his last show in it's entirety. He finished up with "Going to California" by Zep, as that was where he was bound. I loved when he returned. I can't remember the title of his book, but that was a good read -
It was one of the limited 30th Anniversary jobs, with a wenge fingerboard and cocobolo top. I bought it new from Gear4Music. They also had an identical 5 string in at the time.

I honestly shouldn't try to speed read these days. I'm getting as blind as a bat I obviously hadn't finished paying for it at that point, so they were holding out on the B string
