  1. Bargain ! It's a pity I'm miles away otherwise I'd be interested, as I'm about to sell two of my own basses. GLWTS
  2. Well, that didn't take long. A quick trip to Reverb, and £100 I'll change it to a Yamaha LS16M ARE, as my LL16R is getting a bit too big for me
  3. 22" - 23" scale lap steel for C6 tuning, or 8 string for poor man's pedal steel
  4. Looks perfect. Just need to sell the VL3EX first
  5. I have one of these that I bought brand new, but I never use it because the guitar FX and stuff get in the way. Is there a version of this with all the same presets, phantom power, etc. without the the Guitar FX ? I'm not even sure if it would be worthwhile selling this to get something else, but I thought I would ask the hive mind of BC
  6. My new Duesenberg Fairytale Split/King Please excuse our cats' "Rory G" cushion I'm getting on with it slowly, but surely. As I'm well used to a "Low" G tuning on guitar, I'm basically using the same shapes/scale positions, but as if I'm playing a string down. Meaning the bottom string in D or E is the root note, rather than the G tuning's bottom string being a 5th below. I'm having more trouble with my right hand, as I'm not comfy with wearing fingerpicks. Though this could be be because they're not a great fit. I'm not touching the levers yet I've been having a look at these lessons for basic d tuning lap steel, in order to try and get the fingerpick thing down. I've bought the first five lessons. The reason I jumped in the deep end was because I didn't want a cheapy to learn on (I know I'll stick it), and then had the hassle of selling that, then going for this. I'll be selling one of my Ibby's (probably the SR600E) as I fancy something in C6 to use with the many books for this tuning, and then apply that to the Fairytale. Thinking along the lines of this Epiphone Electar Centur or this Gretsch G5700 (which could be retro fitted with levers), but I've got to crawl before I walk.
  7. I would have had it off you, as I was looking for one. Unfortunately, a new purchase (non bass) rules it out. Have a bump instead. GLWTS
  8. The other thing with the Duesey, is that it's strung for a 26" scale, open D. Although I'm used to playing slide in open G, I can find my way around it and have even managed to get a couple of bar "slants" ( forward and back) sounding OK-ish, most of the books are for, or start with 22" C7 tuning. That would mean restringing but I don't fancy it. I may sell an unused bass to procure a cheaper lap slide.
  9. Just don't ask them the price of Double Bass strings
  10. This also happens now and then on Amazon and Ebay. Never to me though
  11. Zombie thread alert ! After threatening to stick a GK3 on a cheap lap steel into a SY1000, I did some thinking, reading (internet), and watching (You Tube), and came to the conclusion that I wanted a good lap steel more than my Roland stuff. After selling the Roland GK3 etc, I started saving, and now have this incoming. Still undecided on the bars, as we seem to be very limited compared to the US (Also, lots dearer if the price of recommended spare strings for the two benders, the custom gauge set he's put together here, Troy Brenningmeyer's custom string set for Open D with Duesenberg and Certano Benders) but have managed to get a Ernie Ball P04233 Heavy steel bar, and a Shubb SP2 so far. Though I may have been better with a Shubb SP1, as it's a bit longer and lighter. More later
  12. Luckily, Andertons got the guitar I wanted in this week So I've gone to them, rather than Thomann to stop me worrying (also the price was exactly the same.)
  13. Maybe she thinks she's next on the Trade in list ?
  14. Absolute bargain. If I didn't already have one, I'd be all over this GLWTS
  15. Don't say it, don't say it........
  16. Hmm....I'm contemplating a purchase from them in the next couple of months (it's £2k, so I'm still saving), but this fills me with doubt. When I returned a bass drum pedal years ago, it was collected at my door, and refunded within a week. Obviously financial cuts on the courier side.
  17. What about forgetting to bring it ? Not that I would ever do anything like that, and luckily it was local so I got Mrs 2pods to bring it to the gig. Likewise, when my 20th Anny Stingray went down with a SD preamp fault. Mrs 2pods to the rescue again with my Spector. However, after gigging for over 50 years, they were the only times I had a problem at the gig. Once après gig, in the van on the way home, I attempted to get our "manager" to buy me a better bass by slinging the said Zenta (Woolworth job, which also only had three strings) bass from the Transit in transit's back doors. However a well meaning neighbour returned it next day.....complete with tyre marks. It still bloody worked I was only 14 though...
