  1. we gigged about 100 gigs with just the Alto 312s. and they were sort of ok, not great. Now have a RCF Evox 8 so I use that and a 312, and that seems to cover most things. Frankly if it is just for the vocals shouldn't be much of an issue.
  2. Ah - I assumed that is what the harmonic emphasis was (seems not), as the knob is in the same place as the drive on the others.
  3. But if you are not handling it then it is ok?
  4. I am not sure what you mean here with the white cable to the other coil. So you have two pickup pieces (actually two independent pickups), one connects to volume, one connects to earth somewhere and a cable connects the two together? So which part of the pickup isn't working - did you try the output of just one part of the pickup pieces?
  5. You tried it without a lead in it didn't you? in which case you won't get any of that interference and the fact is turning the input down did nothing, but turning the volume down did something - the noise is in the preamp - external noise would affect everything equally, and RF would only be an issue with a bass plugged in (especially a passive bass). I am sure GG will fix it, they can just swap the valve with one they have lying around.
  6. Must be better. And I guess they assume that after paying £700 for the unit and £250 for the pickup, you aren't going to notice paying £60 for a TRS cable.
  7. Actually I would put money on it being an issue with the valve that is there.
  8. Broken component in the power supply that supplies the preamp. I have used one of these, it is just as fine as every other ashdown. This is broken.
  9. Its a straight TRS cable with a twisted pair and shield. Any one will work, but obviously boss are going to sell their own.
  10. £45 for the logo and £5 for the bass?
  11. People still seem to like mustang sally, pubs still have bands, and young people like to see the bands while filming each other with their phones. Middle aged and older (ie, people who remember a pub scene in the 70s!) still go to pubs.
  12. Wow - more than a dollar?
  13. Isn't it just one of the pickups of the gretsch g220 that he actually made his name with but is to cheap to make much money from?
  14. Import costs are not bad really. If you wanted to buy a bass in 2015, if it cost £1000 that would have been €1430. Now that would be €1,158+20% vat, that would be €1389, cheaper than it used to be from your direction!
  15. I suppose if you either made it hollow (not sure how you would do that) or made it thinner it would be less weight. Not sure the headstock is adding too much weight. Also shape - if you went for a steingburger shape you could probably get it down quite a bit.. Oh.. look at that - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32859958210.html
  16. Well, that would be lighter if it is hollow!
  17. s'funmny - I was going to say they are going to be the new Sue Ryders!
  18. There aren't going to be any < 10lb acrylic basses.
  19. you could always play the original
  20. Ooh looking forward to mine now. When I got my wrongo from china, that is how it came, polystyrene wrapped in plastic. I think it makes the packing cheaper
  21. Yeh, it would be two cabs with the same signal - if you want stereo / bi-amping you would presumably want two amps.
  22. Yeh, forgot to mention I have had 3 gibsons - Darkfire, EB5 and The Paul and still have the latter. The Paul was something I wanted when I was 18, but I couldn't get the money (£320) together. But when I told the guitarist in my current band he said 'oh I have one' so I bought it off him for not much more than that. A bit tattier, but it is 45 years old (although according to him it was immaculate until 5 years ago when he gave it to his brother).
  23. ABM1200? It doesn't go to 2 ohms, its just to ABM600s power sections in the same box, each power section is the same as the ABM600s power section, and each has an output that can go down to 4 ohms.
  24. I know a lot of guitarists using Gibson. They are a fairly useless company but their guitars are fairly ubiquitous despite that.
  25. At the time I was looking for a darkfire control box - the darkfire had been disconued (I had one) and the dusktiger had the same electronics. Some things are rare as everyone hung on to theirs. Some are rare as noone bought them!
