I didn't even know there was a stereo mono switch let alone accidently setting it to anything else - it never moved. The only thing the thing that is an issue is forgetting to turn it off.

I went in Gibsons shop in Nashville a few years back (before the opening of their 'garage') - and it was interesting in that it had a lot of gibsons, and it was the only place I ever saw a dusk tiger (urghh) and a Firebird X but as @cetera says, you wouldn't actually buy anything from there - the prices are fixed at the RRP that gibson puts on their site, there probably isn't a shop in the word selling gibsons at those prices but obviously because they are Gibson, they can't undercut themselves.

I took it apart before and couldn't work out what the problem was!

No, I think it is a statement of fact in an area. Around here, whether original or cover band, if you don't have your own PA you wouldn't be able to play many venues at all, apart from maybe a multi band set where someone else has their own PA. I am sure in a city it maybe different, but here that is how it is - it doesn't matter what sort of music you play, you bring a PA or noone is going to hear you. Edit: and yes, there are original bands round here

Although that is OT, considering this is about sales of basses on BC, so not commercial stuff, but the taxes / duties is no issue at all. The reason my wife cannot export to the EU any more is the codes and regions of manufacture stuff - there frankly aren't enough hours in her day with everything else she is doing to come up with the paperwork to export stuff to the EU, even if she could understand it, so it is not something she can do any longer. She could get someone else to do it, but she doesn't earn enough to make it worthwhile. She doesn't get too much money, she is a small online shop, but it was 1/4 of her business, and her customers were very good so it is quite sad.

We have mustang sally - we tried to drop it twice and got complaints! The problem I have with dakota is not that it is necessarily a bad song (it is, but no worse than others), but it is often done very poorly by bands and feels very lifeless. In fact its very rare that i have heard it done well. Sex on fire is the same but sex on fire done badly is kind of made up by the audience and people rarely notice!

I just don't look at anything from europe these days, its just too much hassle, which is a shame, there are some basses I would have got that I no longer can for same reasons as mentioned above. From my own point of view, my wifes webshop lost ¼ of her business selling to the EU, she had quite a loyal base there - as a sole trader below the vat threshold she hasn't got the time to do all the paperwork.

I think the most notable thing from the video apart is actually what it said about job availability. Back in those days you could quit your job, it didn't work out with your band, you get another job. People same age now couldn't do that. That and the changing for the group

You will find out playing them - it becomes obvious after a short while what goes down well wehre. We have a very varied set list, and although there are different songs that go down better with different crowds, there are always some that are more popular than others

Almost certainly an analogue pedal. It is far cheaper and easier to build an analogue preamp than a digital one so very unlikely it would be that seeing as it is just a preamp with tone controls.

I think about the 600 vs 300, there is no situation that I can think of where the 600 wouldn't be enough. I can think of situations where the 300 might not be, so as a result, if you just want the 1 amp and to not think about it again, the 600 is a good bet.

In any band that the ELF would keep up obviously the AMB300 would also be fine. There are loud bands and loud bands, and obviously different efficiency speakers!

I have the 600 - used to gig it into 2 8r cabs, but now I just use the BC 8 ohm cab, and have never got to the not loud enough stage.

I will say that although I think their site is an improvement, their weekly email isn't - before it was just a text list of things that they had, esp including used basses grouped by strings which let you see if there was anything interesting. now it is a load of very small pictures. I am only really interested in 5 strings, thats hard to see on a picture!

I have 2 speakons that worked fine on my TC450 to speaker if you used them the right way round, but didn't work the other way round. I cured that by putting tape around the end that needed to be by the amp!

oh sorry - I just saw the schematic and assumed it was a single pole one! But yes, like that. Good for power control and doesn't interfere with the few wireless units that don't like stereo plugs (not sure what they are but they have been mentioned).

Not necessarily - there are jack sockets with actual switches on them. They used to be more common than they are now, but they certainly must still be around.

I rarely bring a stand if I only have one bass - it is either in its bag or I am playing it.
