  1. if you click the edit button on the first post it lets you also edit the title. Add the word sold at the end, and it will auto lock and mark as sold. Also 'withdrawn' or 'traded'
  2. I had seen that image in a facebook post before, when I didn't know about the story and had ignored. I don't think I would want to see them anyway!
  3. Thats exactly what I assumed.
  4. I always wished I didn't get a cinder red pulse 1 when they came out.
  5. I used to enjoy doing that, but we lost our keyboard player so we had to drop it.
  6. Facebook is full of scams. I saw one last week for andertons, selling marshal speakers for 9.99. I have seen those before and know they are scammed, so I looked, sure enough it said anderton music supplies, had their logo and everything, then look closer, 120 followers. Reported it as a scam, Did a search for andertons, hundreds of thousands of followers, no little speakers, contacted them they said not to deal with the other thing as it was a scam, I said I knew and had reported it but thought they might have more clout, they said they report them every day and nothing happens. Sure enough, 2 days later got a thing from facebook saying that the complaint wasn't upheld. Now I assume everything on facebook is fake, as long as meta get their money they don't care who they are ripping off.
  7. Thats what I thought but.. https://www.cornwalllive.com/news/cornwall-news/old-time-sailors-blast-hate-10204971 "As part of this investigation, we have arrested six males on suspicion of modern-day slavery offences. We appreciate the activity may have caused some confusion and concern amongst the local community" - the band leader has done a runner.
  8. So is this part of the same story or has the world gone a little mad? I hadn't heard of the Old Time Sailors, so I did a search on them and it seems they are tied up on a modern day slavery probe in devon? I mean that sounds a bit worse than just nicking a few songs.
  9. I can switch to 4 as well without too much trouble, but I can't do a set with any of my bands with a 4 string bass, so if I took a 4 string bass to a gig I would also need to take a 5 string, and then what is the point. So I buy 4 strings, end up not playing them and then sell them. Repeat cycle!
  10. We went all the way through learning it and getting it ready, then we dropped it because someone didn't like it who later decided they actually liked it. Figures!
  11. I meant than the 5 multi - if the 4 is 36-34 and the 5 is 37-34, then the E must be 35.33" on the 4 and 36.25" on the 5, almost an inch longer. Not that I believe that really it makes that much difference!.
  12. I am so unlikely to buy (and retain) a 4 string bass, I often get annoyed that the sales area doesn't have a filter to filter only 5 strings, then I remember it would have to be me that did that and I let me off
  13. So I guess that means it has a slightly shorter E string than the 5?
  14. Well, it doesn't change much other than the length, you still have the 4/5 string issue. Is the new band just C#? I joined a new band that does a lot of metal and they are all in different tunings, the 5 is essential for that. I use a drop D bass for 3 songs and a standard 5 for songs in E, Eb, C#, C and B, and then have to downtune, because someone always wants one song in A!
  15. I put the super light 40-125s on it, and combined with the trimmed down nut, it is pretty well spot on now, took it to a practice tonight and it works very well. I think I can not worry about the truss rod after all.
  16. There is no standard, when configuring your bass it is there as an option to what preamp you want.
  17. OK, now a bit more reading and I find out that all of that information was pre-1984 truss rods. Post 1984 truss rods work like any other truss rod, except there being two of them, so back to a bit more of a comfort zone, except for not having any imperial sockets!
  18. Well, that is sort of what I thought, but this is a 4004L which is anything but vintage, but sure enough it does have twin truss rods that look just like the ones in the 4003. Luckily with the bridge drop and nut reduction, it is much lower than it was, so it isn't so much of an issue, other than there is nowhere to go if it was wrong, and I do need to change the strings, so my current dilemma is that I have a pack of 40-125s, and a pack of 45-130s!
  19. OK, so I need to do the strings on my 5 string ric, but the nut is too high and the action is too high, so tonight is the night to sort it out. Was really worried about filing the nut down as it always goes wrong, but for whatever reason, today it didn't, I filed the nut down and it is mostly ok (I could have probably gone further but its close enough). So next job the action, might as well adjust the truss rod, take off the TRC and.. oh, two truss rods, I thought that was just a 4003 thing, rather than a ric thing. Still, how hard can it be, head to youtube to see what needs doing. First video, guy loosens the truss rods, bends the neck back manually, does them up and says thats fine. OK, that can't be right, second video, have to skip half of it as hes just spending his time time talking, drinking and smoking, but then he undoes the truss rods and bends the neck down. hmm.. then I tried the 3rd, same thing. So at this point it is either a global conspiracy by bass manufacturers to break rics or is that is actually how you adjust a ric neck?
  20. Yet on their website they are announcing the new range of cases?
  21. One of the nordstrand Ibanezes has a lot of top end with the treble turned up
  22. For me, any active 5 string bass with the treble turned up and new strings. The bongo is pretty good, but they all are really until the strings go dull
  23. Any form of calendar works if people remember to update it, if they don't, then nothing works.
  24. Mine were refunded on eBay, so it didn't cause me an issue.
