  1. Yes, the CT200 is fine. I got it to do speakons, but frankly, I haven't really had an issue with that so that one stays at home. I find the CT200 requires you to think about what you are seeing, it isn't as instant so the CT100 is the one that travels everywhere.

  3. When I ran my alto 12s I had a behringer sub 12 that I took along to mainly outdoor events, and it certainly added something. Not saying it was brilliant, but it was better with it than without it and anything heavier than it would not have been brought, so it worked fine. I mean mostly it was just kick drum in it but it certainly projected, and obviously anything in that was not in the other speakers so I think it helped. I haven't used it since getting the Evox 8, but I might do again this summer for some events

  5. I had a notification from bandmix in the 'someone looking at your profile', so I looked them up (I have a free account, can't send messages) and they were looking for a bass player. This year with my current band we have managed 1 or 2 practices as the guitarist always has some reason to cancel, and only a few gigs, also a little bored that it takes us an age to learn the simplest of things, so though I would look for a side project, so I looked up this band and found them advertising on JMB. Contacted them and agreed to meet up this thursday (actually last thursday but that was cancelled as there was a legit emergency for someone). Met up at a village hall. A very different way of practicing than I am used to, all have microphones and stereo in ears, no amplifiers at all, all though the mixer, the sound was great. 2 guitarists, drummer wasn't there (played along to the drum recordings), singer. Went through a whole host of songs that I have mostly not played before, heavier stuff with some muse etc thrown in, really enjoyable leaning 10 new songs in a couple of weeks and getting them down not too bad, they seemed happy anyway and asked me back. Going to go back and see how things work out with it - maybe just playing around and getting set lists ready for the moment, but nice to have a break and completely different styles of music to play. The in ear thing made stuff so good as did only having to turn up with a bass and the Boss me90b

  9. Absolutely, it shows you what is there. So unlike the more complicated and fussy CT200, the CT100 just has a grid of 3 leds that shows you what is connected to where, and 3 showing intermittant. So if you connect a TRS to TRS lead it will show you a straight line, pin1-pin1, pin2-pin2 etc. If you plug in a TS to TS it will show you 1-3 to 1-3, 2-2, so you can see it is fine. Also when you plug something in, then you shake the lead and if the lights flicker (something loose) it will show on the intermittant line. It is basically so dumb it is faultless and fast. Also you can do TRS-TS, Jack to XLR, 1/8" to ¼", Midi - Midi, Phono etc. And you can also send an audio signal down the cable if you want to check where it is wired to, which has helped me a couple of times with 10M PA cables

  11. Some of the models were very limited edition, especially the GVB36, I only ever saw two and I bought one. I did spend quite a while trying to get the original SR5. My SR1605 - the original one, had a very short run probably because it is too light, and now there is another 1605 which is different (which makes model numbering odd). But some models, such as the prestiges aren't so hard to find, so I guess eventually they will be around for a while

  16. I have nothing to add for the discussion other than to say when I first read the title it scanned in my head as 'Budget for a sub-par band', and I wondered why anyone would ask that! Sorry, as you were.

  20. No doubt. I have tried the behringer uphoria and that worked ok on the PC ok for me, but just with a keyboard, but I haven't spent much time on it. I also used to have a future impact and didn't have a problem with midi on it, but understand it does seem to work for you and get you would be down on it.
  21. because it's easier to add usb and provide a usb driver when it is new. But in a few years you may not be able to get the driver for those things - I have several devices that only run with really old hardware (like winxp drivers) that are next to useless. If the were midi I could connect to them with anything from any of my computers. i know midi is a bit more of a faff with windows but with a decent interface it should be trouble free
  22. Is your midi interface not being 'owned' by reaper in those screenshots? I am not sure how windows does it - I don't get why the ASIO and midi inputs are connected, one is for audio, unless it is the same interface that does both?
  23. Well, no his use of it became obsolete. If he was still using the same interface it would still be working fine I assume.
  24. Well, I know a lot of people get upset with manufacturers for not improving the firmware of a pedal that they have released. Which I think is a little odd. Yes, it is nice that Line6 update their stuff, and it is certainly a data point when buying equipment, but if you are not happy with a feature of a product you are thinking of getting, it is better to consider that it may never change, and decide if it is something you can live with, like the guy in the video, he didn't like the looper and was dissapointed that they didn't update it - could have maybe got something with a better looper on it? I have many obsolete products over time, as I have always got random computer based stuff, and it is kind of par for the course. Interesting that you mention the Future Impact - in a way that is way more future proof than most, as it idoesn't require some custom USB driver and a computer - it is a midi device, you could, should you choose, program that with an atari ST from 1985, and you will be able to program it 20 years from now on whatever is available there. Whereas something like the ToneX One I have basically has obsolescence factored in from startup. For main effects I have either the choice of a BossME90B which although computer accessible is entirely programmable from the front panel, and a Mod Dwarf which is entirely unaccessable from the front panel, but when the company goes down has open sourced all of their code, so people can continue to modify it. You can still buy the old boss (and fancy expensive boutique multi hundred pedals with one op amp in it) effects if you want, or you can get stuff that does a lot more and has a shorter life span. Pays yer money and all
