1. That is the best pedalboard that I have seen yet - brilliant!! How do you attach the pedals to it? What are your thoughts on the Groove Regulator? Really thinking of getting one but not yet convinced it offers anything more than the MXR M82 or other filters that I have already!
My Limited Edition Monkey Dream Board (Ghost Monkey X-3012) finally arrived! Pedals are not stuck down or patched in yet, but here are some pics… Daylight, board not activated… Daylight, board activated… Dark (eg. Dim lit stage)… Love it! With VAT added and Parcel Farce's fees the board basically cost the same as a PedalTrain2, with the exception that it does not come with a case (But I'm sure I can find a keyboard case to fit). Its 30" x 12", super light weight plexi-glass (literally weighs nothing) and comes fitted with all the LED's etc. Love it or hate it… I think its awesome! lol
2. Ha ha - lazy Italians! Not too worried about that as my tuner on the pedalboard mutes the signal anyway.
It took them long enough to put a mute button on the amps you can tune up silently :-(
3. Thanks for that - can't think about buying another head as I have only just got this one! I just think it might have been a nice feature to be able to switch it on and off if you were playing a slap section in a tune for example. I have found so far that all EQ flat and both filters around 9 to 10 o'clock sounds fantastic but that is only at home - will see what happens when I gig it the first time this coming weekend.
MB used to make a LMK head. This is a two channel LM which allows you to switch between the two channel using a foot switch. Sounds like this is what your after. LMK These crop up second hand from time to time on here. No idea why they stopped making them.
4. Really loving those tracks Mike - the bass solo is great. I really wish I could pull off a solo like that but would have no idea where to start! Nice work. Mark
Thought you guys might enjoy some of this - I posted some stuff from my funk band the other day but I think this is better - first tune has quite a melodic solo from me - and the second tune is an original of mine called 'Push' the last one is the guitarist's tune called 'Carousel'. Hope you dig it Mike
5. JUst reading the posts here and in particular the one from Russ (EBS Freak) and I would advise that if you can you should have both basses as they are such different beasts but both great at what they do. I love my Rumour to bits but if you want the old school jazz vibe then you just have to have an old passive Fender Jazz end of! The GB's can get an amazing array of sounds as Russ says but it will never be a passive jazz bass. I think every bass player should have a GB in their arsenal but I am not sure if I agree that you should expect one bass to do everything for you. In the end it will come down to an array of factors that will make your decision, cost, looks, sound and mojo!!
tastes included of course, but in your opinion would you trade a Fender CS (my CS) jazz for a GB Spitfire? its a very special GB (a very special one)...ive played the GB but didnt get to know it very well...anyone know what the premps are like in these basses? how good are they?
6. Thanks for the link - that was an awesome 3 tracks to watch and listen to - so good it made me buy the Live In London DVD just to see more!!
Here's a link to Incognito's recent performance on Wogan At The Weekend http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p009k7b8 All 3 tracks have a nice groove, but I cant for the life of me work out what make of J bass that is. At first I thought it was Sadowsky but the headstock seems too pointy. Here's a shot of the headstock, any ideas?
7. Thanks guys, some really good advice there - looks like Mark Bass might have missed a trick by not making the VPF a footswitchable option? Will see how I fare at gigs using it sparingly.
 8. Hey man, Thanks for the advice - yes great amps perfect sound and light as a feather too! It almost feels as though you wish you could boost the VPF just for slap bass type sounds and then turn off again which is why I asked about a footswitch.
Brilliant amps aren't they? The VLF boosts the bass and treble and gives a "scooped" sound. Like setting a graphic EQ into a smile setting. Great for slapping or for a modern hi-fi sound. I find though that it's best not to overdue it; setting it about 11o'clock seems to work. Problem is it sounds good but tends to get a bit lost in a band mix. There have been quite a few posts on basschat about this and the VLE filter. someone on here gets a really goodsound turning both filters up Try it! For me with my US Jazz bass my default is to set all the controls flat ie in the middle, the filters off and a bit of low mid boost at 1 o'clock. Sounds great.
9. Evening all, I recently bought a Mark Bass Little Mark III amp which I think is fantastic but I just wondered how much other MB owners use this control and what for? I assume that there is no way of switching this on and off with a footswitch? Any advice on how to use this nifty control would be appreciated. BTW I play mostly funk music!
 10. + 1 big time!
I have nothing against jazz but, for me, it has to have funk included.
11. OK First and foremost I believe that Tribes Vibes & Scribes is their best album closely followed by 100 degrees and Rising and then Positivity. I have been listening to their latest album Transatantic RPM and that sounds pretty good too almost back to their best. In a similar vein Citrus Sun are good along with JTQ particularly the album "In The Hand of the Inevitable", Raw Stylus and some Galliano are along the same lines. It's all good music though - enjoy!
could those who like the band put their albums in some kind of order (especially when it comes to the bass playing) what else is there in a similar style that I might not be aware of ?
12. I think this might have been my bass once! Did you trade it with Rockinbassman? Mark
Apologies for late replies... I have had a number of PM's regarding the bass over the last week but have been away on my honeymoon! All PM's replied to now! Big fat KSD shaped bump.
13. Jake is a top man to deal with - great communication and very quick payment. Very highly recommended by me. Mark
 14. Out of curiosity did you replace the original pickups too? I was in a music store the other day and was advised that I should replace the pickups in my 74 jazz as they are old hat and technology and you would get a much better tone out of Nordstrands or similar. I was surprised by this as I actually like the tone from the bass and think that changing the p/ups would take the essence of the bass away! I have however considered adding a J-Retro just for a better output and more EQ options.
I have an East J-Retro in my 62 Jazz fretless... it really is a bass monster, superb, rich lows.... almost sub bass. I'd recommend to any JB player...
15. Highly recommended. David is a great guy to deal with, very polite and quick communications and when he bought my Aguilar AG500 the payment came through within minutes of asking for it. You just cannot ask for better than that! Cheers David top man! Mark
 16. PM sent.
Hi I'm interested in this if the price is right. Do you have a final offer price on this? I live near Glasgow so not sure what p+p would be on that, have you any idea? Cheers Andy
17. Got sound but no picture - anyone got any idea why?
For those who havn't seen it yet i found a link on the alleva coppolo site and its brilliant. http://allevacoppolo.com/media
18. Perhaps Ebay would be better for this one - somebody back me up that these are great cabs!!
 19. Thanks!!
Got one myself, thinking about selling it actually as I just don't use it as much as I should. Bump for a great effects pedal!
20. Met up with Nathan yesterday - top man, straight as an arrow and a pleasure to do business with! Last Basschatter I met was in Wigan so nice to be able to see someone closer to home! Excellent comms via PM and a very hassle free transaction. Would highly recommend Nathan to all others on this wonderful forum. A +++ Mark
