Why are we waiting, oh why are we waiting - you know the song I mean!!
Not the full journey by train. A good mate wanted to go see Bernie to so I got the train to Wolverhampton this morning and got there at 8.30, then we drove from there... And he dropped me back at the station on the way home. Still long enough. When I order the 6 fretless I'll let you know though I am however off to see Robbie & the land of RIM basses next Sunday for a few Marseer tweaks and to see some of his toys if you fancy a less intensive day out! Pics will have to wait until daylight... Can't get any decent ones under the poor lighting... Tomorrow. I promise!
If you are looking for a good filter sound I would certainly not be looking at an EBS Wah One!!!
Hi, I'm an EHX Micro Q-Tron owner. I think it's a pretty nice pedal, but it's far from being the ultimate solution in the envelope filter universe. I was looking for a good volume pedal and I was about to buy a Boss FV500H, but I thought "what about selling the Q-Tron and buying the EBS Wah One?" The EBS Wah One works both as a volume pedal and as an envelope filter. What would you choose? A standard Boss vol pedal or EBS Wah One (selling the Q-Tron)?
Agreed!
Been loving this girls bass playing for a long time...at 32 shes pretty sh*t hot... IMO an unsung female bassist.. Agreed although over on TB I told him not to call it Proton as that is the same name as a very dodgy make of car over here!! I would have gone for ProTron instead as it sounded a bit more Mu-Tron ish. Guess I just have to decide what to complete my vast filter collection with now, Soundblox BEF, 3 Leaf GR2 or 3 Leaf Proton? That is the only real downside with the vintage Mu-Tron that it takes up so much space on board and is bloody heavy too.
Looks like GR1/2 and Proton will be a good match, two different animals, simplicity of the Mutron vs a cooled down Meatball! good vibes on these cos the guy listens to what people want! I agree I think I have a very bad case of Filter Fever!! I think that in the end I will sell some on but I kind of want to try as many as possible to make sure that I am not missing "that sound" somewhere!! Mind you the Mu-Tron is pretty damn hard to beat. Really like the Aggie Filter Twin it gets pretty close to the Mu-Tron and being able to blend an up/down filter together gives a much fuller sound. I am pretty happy with it and would recommend it. Did you know that 3 Leaf are about to release a Mu-Tron clone called the Proton? Never used a Boomstick - any good?
You appear to be turning into a filter freak, my friend :-) Hows the aggie filter? Got a boomstick bottom feeder here and waiting for the 3 leaf GR to arrive from US, seems to be taking forever! Tony
Bought an Aguilar Filter Twin but might still find the funds for this as it sounded good in the demo!
Gentelmen, After a great deal of pushing on our part we've finally gotten the Soundblox Bass Envelope Filter listed on Thomann. Sorry that there was such a delay on this! Sadly, we actually lost a few European customers because of this... The link is: http://www.thomann.de/gb/source_audio_soun...ss_envelope.htm If you have any questions about the BEF, send them my way! Cheers, Will
Just to correct Bub's spelling (Eumir Deodato), could also try T-Connection, The Sound Stylistics, Nils Langren, Pleasure and JD73 as a few more ideas.
Pretty much what has been said above, some great suggestions there..... i could add Incognito, Jeff Lorber..Ive been getting into Eumer Diadato lately, hes wicked.. Norman Brown.. My particular favorite is Maze...just back to back greatness!...Or some of the later Bobby Womack is great..
I have been following the development of this pedal over on TB and am really looking forward to hearing some sound samples. I thought that the sounds from the prototype were not up to much really if I was honest but I am sure that Spencer will get it right as the GR2 seems to be such a big hit on both sides of the pond. In November I finally got hold of a MusiTronics Mu-Tron III so I would like to A/B them and see if he has been the first pedal builder to actually clone the sound successfully.
3 leaf are known for the Lovetone Meatball clone, the Groove Regulator, it's just moved into it's second incarnation as GR2 There is also a Mutron III clone on the way, called the Proton. Not available yet, but looks like they are in production and may be available for pre order soon
No - not see it anywhere over here yet. I called the UK distributors before Xmas and he thinks that it will be at least March until we see them over here. You can buy them online in the States from Amazon.com and a few other but would then have to pay import and duty and VAT once it got here which would probably make it quite expensive. Seems stupid to release a product get lots of talk going about it and then not have it for sale - I think they have got something wrong there. If you head over to TB there is some good fedback on it - at least they have it over there the swines.
Anyone spotted the Source filter for sale anywhere yet?
Hey B5, Some excellent recommendations as ever! Cool Million is good - you can see where JD73 got their influences from. BTW I actually bought Pure Gold by JD73 the other day and have to say that bar one track it is a fantastic album. Thanks for switching me on to them. Never heard of Dira before - very much like Incognito and just my kind of thing. Will get that later today. Jeff Lorber has had a place in my collection for a while now and is just awesome. I think that he is playing London at the end of January (Jazz Cafe possibly?) Same for Deodato I have been a big fan since someone gave me a taped copy of Deodato 2 back in 1993!! We covered his track SuperStrut when Ipso Facto was up and running. A great tune to play. Check out T-Connection on You Tube and in particular, Funky Lady, Groove to Get Down and At Midnight.
