2.
Allows isolation of pedals on a daisy chain/makes pedals sound as though they are being powered by a battery.
Excuse my ignorance, but what difference does it make to the sound if pedals are powered by battery rather than psu?
3. Sounds pretty punky to me. A bit too poppy and American for my taste tho. And I would argue that punk can include anything up to the current day. I keep seeing new bands coming through, and eventually playing at Rebellion. If a band comes through with a sound clearly influenced by 76-80 that can't be easily defined as hardcore, crust, psychobilly etc, what genre would you put them in? Punk is an attitude towards music and life in general, not a time period or fashion...
4. Great transaction, very helpful and accommodating. Nice bloke, and a good demo of the cab. Cheers Joe
5. My (£30) battered and faded p bass copy, with the cheapest flatwounds on it I could find, keeps tune incredibly well now that the strings have worn in a bit. I can play it every day for a week and it'll be a miniscule amount out. Can't fault that.
6.
Bump for a class gag. But no idea for a name, sorry.
People need to learn not to ask serious questions on this forum. It rarely ends well. See the "vegetarian bass player wanted for sessions" thread...
7.
Or, alternatively, the sign of a complete lack of critical awareness
Who pissed in your coffee??
8. I'm always a bit torn regarding tribute bands, as a lot are covering music i couldn't care less about. I've seen a few, mainly when i've been to a pub and they happen to be playing, but none have really excited me. Especially for a lot of the punk and metal stuff, authenticity is the key for me. I'd rather watch a band trying and failing at their own stuff with enthusiasm than a group trying to be someone else...
9. Surely you mean "chipolata builder fingers"?
10.
Iron Monkey - Our Problem
Love Iron Monkey. Big Loader is probably my favourite song.
11. You can get those straps (not sure what they're called) where there's a sort of harness thing the bass attaches to, stopping it moving
12. Androgynous hookers and a mountain of nose-sugar? That happens to be one of my targets in life I'll have you know
13. I can't see what the fuss is with Rush. Sure, Geddy Lee is a talented bassist, but so is Mark King, and i can't stand Level 42 either
14.
We talk meet for a beer and see how it goes. Not in a date kind of way though.
Well, that's me out. It was all promising 'til then.
15. I like BigRedX's idea. Get a complete wiring kit from a decent brand and drop it in.
16. I imagine if you used an appropriately-sized piece of wood, then remounted the screws without foam or springs it would work. Or you could use a high-density foam that doesn't squash so much.
17. Does this count? Guitar and bass on the same instrument. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2xKwGrtLDI Actually half-decent sound quality, too.
18. Bought an amp from James. Great guy, item exactly as described and dispatched quickly. Very happy.
19. I'll admit when it started I thought it was gonna be some generic indie tripe, but was very good. Strange video, but a lot of the best ones are.
20. Removing residue using India Pale Ale? Sounds unlikely
21.
Your reasoning is flawed here, my friend. The power cable is part of the amplifier because it does not work as a discreet unit without it . The instrument cable is related to the instrument , not the amplifier. Besides which, there are alternative ways of using the amp other than plugging an instrument into it with a cable, but the amp itself will not serve any of the purposes it was intended for without a power cable. That is the fundamental difference. And if you bought the accompanying cabinet, the speaker lead should be included unless otherwise stated.
This. Plus the choice of instrument cable is related to how much you can spend, the length you want, how resistant to wear and tear you want it to be, etc etc. Similarly, but possibly less so, with speaker cables. Plus speaker cables have different plugs according to the cab they are plugging into. Personally, as a newbie buying a cheap amp, I'd prefer to have a power lead included, but I'd understand and be fine if it didn't, given the price. But if I spend £300+ on an amp, I'd expect the power cable it was bought with (or a decent replacement) to be included.
22.
Ah , the old " can you help me get this car out of a difficult parking space" trick. Never fails . I think we all know what happened next .
I'm sure you could see your way to explaining for us...
23.
I was out with the female singer-guitarist in my then band some years ago. She was looking for a Telecaster. Shop assistant had to keep saying things like 'I bet you're just like PJ Harvey.'
Presumably naming one of the two female musicians he knew of? The only issue I ever have with women is bands is the tendency for some very average bands to have a female singer as their USP, with no other female members- heaven forbid they should let a woman near an instrument!
