I got caught by glass hammer because they sent me to the shop next door... which sold panel glass... I assumed it was some sort of tool needed for car windows. We got a work experience kid to ring up and order sky hooks... with hilarious results when the clueless phone operator at the suppliers didn't realise it was a pisstake and started searching the computer for them

Long weight, glass hammer, tartan paint, left handed screwdriver etc etc

I would say if you love the way it plays and feels, get a decent preamp (floor or rack) that can add some warmth/grit and fiddle til the sound matches your expectations. I guess it's about personal priorities

In line with my musical tastes I'd say any pop song covered by a "rock" band of any sort is gonna be better than the original. But as a specific example, search the ole tube for "the restarts - does your mother know". Epic

Because of my taste in music i rarely go to big gigs. The last big-ish one was orange goblin and st vitus at heaven. The bass was incredible, you could feel it in your chest. And the eq-ing meant the bassists came through perfectly

It's a bit stiff at first, but softens with time. I've been using mine for a while and have no concerns over durability.

GAS is gear acquisition syndrome, a painful yearning that if surrendered to leads to cupboards full of pedals that never get used and basses that sit in racks not getting played. Personally i'm GASsing for a valve amp right now. It's that "I don't need it but it'd be cool to own..."feeling

The issue is it's difficult to find a piece of clothing that hasn't been "hipsterised" now. I get people assuming my beard is a fashion statement as opposed to a hatred of shaving...

I have Fender flats on my (cheap copy) P bass, and I love them. Considering trying some other flats, e.g. labella or status, to see if I can get something with even better fundamentals.

A quick request. Has anyone owned/played one of these (the 5 string ones) and could let me know if it's any good? Specifically looking at how good the low B is, as I gather this is a failing on many lower end basses.

Bought Mark's B1 pedal. Great communication, fast dispatch. Never expected first class delivery though... amazing! John
