I pimped a Squier Classic Vibe 50s Jazz last year, and as part of that I put a set of Bare Knuckles in. Sound great! Plenty of grunt equivalent to my Jap Geddy. I was pleased with the outcome

I'm a hobbyist with a day job. Money is all very nice, but I'm more into the music than any income from it. I've often thought that making money solely from music would be great, but then I get to thinking that having to rely on music to make money would remove much of the fun from it, and force me to play cheesy 'popular' songs in order to get the well paid gigs. Everyone's different, but I'm happy with doing things on my terms

My Ray HH is more versatile than the H. I've played metal, rock'n'roll and indie with the HH using both pickups, while I stick her on back pickup for funk. Works for me...

Years ago I was in a band that did a lot of grunge. If we did one of the first tracks off an album, we often used to play the second one just after. Pearl Jam's Once was followed by Even Flow, Alice In Chains' Them Bones was followed by Dam That River etc. Dunno why but some punters used to go nuts over that. *shrug*

I used to play flamenco when I was a kid. It's something I'd love to get back into, given the time and a decent teacher. A satisfying genre of music to play!

Like someone else mentioned earlier, I'm unsure of the context. However, if he just came out with "You wanna f**k with me on the bandstand?" in this neck of the woods, there's a strong chance he'd get all 24 frets sunk in him. Being a great musician doesn't give you a free pass to abuse people to that level. But then, we all have different levels of tolerance.... and again... context.

Playing covers is a great way to learn new stuff (as long as you're not stuck playing Mustang Sally and Dakota et al), especially if you get the opportunity to play different styles. Playing original stuff gives you the opportunity to apply your knowledge in a writing context. Best of both worlds is great!

Nice one, bassbiscuits. That's where most of the fun is at for me personally. It's the aspect of playing bass that I enjoy the most! Have fun! And yes, Blue, we know not everyone does it for fun.

Two years ago I was in work on a Monday morning, sat in a chair - I leaned forward to put my boots on and Ker-POW! 3 days in bed and another week walking round like a 90 year old miner. And yes.. good technique will go a long way where carrying bass gear is concerned.

Hmmm....... ugly.....

Anyone who's ever had back issues will tell you how it can affect your quality of life. Why take the risk when you can get a great sound out of light gear?
