  1. Two Notes Torpedo CAB simulator. Excellent condition. If this is of interest I am pretty sure you will know what these do:-) Includes box, manual, PSU and USB cable It's just a bit big, and way more capable than I need - a mooer Radar is doing the job far more conveniently!
  2. That’s a 50 watt guitar head against a 200 watt bass amp. There will be more valves and heftier transformers to deliver that power. i must weigh my bassman 135 sometime... Paul
  3. The spectracomp can be had easily for £63 new. You can keep it simple with a single knob, or tweak allsorts. If you don't like it they are popular so you'll easily sell it on. Paul.
  4. There’s improvement in modellers, but it’s the use of FRFR that’s also important. you run am amp rig that colours, and maybe has a high end roll off, and then put a modeller in front of that that simulates a coloured rig, with maybe a different high end roll off and you get mud,
  5. It's kinda simple. A 100W amp can't give more that 100W. Gain comes into it though. To give that 100W you need a combination of an big enough input signal and enough gain to make that input up to 100W. If the overall gain of the amp isn't enough to take it up to 100W a preamp may help.
  6. I am not familiar with the eq on the Ampeg, but how have you got that set?
  7. Thanks for the feedback - it's not that I am concerned about space, just mindful that my aging mind may not remember what I put where! Where did you pick the NUX up? The main source I can see it Thomann.
  8. Can you feel any latency with either? The NUX looks a little light on bass cabs as delivered - would adding something like a fridge mean overwriting one of the defaults?
  9. I don't know. I think forums like this and ebay mean some people will take a punt on an expensive accessory and move it on if they don't like it. It can be awkward finding stock local to try. I know DSR and return policies make it easier to mailorder but I always feel guilty returning once I have opened the packaging if sealed. I was surprised how quickly the first hyperluminal hit the marketplace here. Paul.
  10. Not sure what you mean by conditioner. A UPS would probably help, but not cheap and they are heavy.
  11. Indeed - The power demands are similar to the CAB - I do wonder if that's the power the modelling needs. The CAB does indeed do more, but for me is overkill, the Radar does closer to what I need. I may well have a CAB for sale shortly! Paul.
  12. SAI I think were something like Sound Advice Installations. If memory serves, they were in Standish, Wigan, though as I type maybe Coppull.
  13. If I was splitting like that I'd be with all these guys - decent modeller and FRFR. There are lots of FRFR around - high on my check list would be the QSC K10.2.
  14. I sometimes wonder though if this is the sort of thing that they don't notice, but it does make a difference to them. The sort of thing that leads to them preferring one local live band over another? £63!!! I might give one a try for the hell of it! P.
  15. @Bridgehouse is pretty much spot on. a) Do you need one? If you are happy with the tone you are getting no, if you aren't maybe. b) people are doing different things with pres. If you already have a traditional bass amp, and are happy with your sound, as per a) you don't need one anyway. Some are using pedal based pres to put their tone on the floor in front of them, and then using some form of power amp. c/d: I have nothing to add e) nice pre, but may not be what you need - they can do a lot. you pay for it though!
  16. The GED2112 is a rackmount pre isn't it? I'd look at something like a crown XLS1502. With one cab run it bridged for headroom, but there's the option should you get a second cab to power them separately, which gives control over levels separately. Keep them together in a small rack case. Keep them patched togather and a powerlead like http://www.cablewarehouse.co.uk/display_category.php?search=PW-387%2F2&x=33&y=32 Paul.
  17. Twonotes Le Bass is quite nice. Also hearing lots of good stuff about the Tech 21 DP-3X Dug Pinnick
  18. OK, I have had a couple of queries about trades - I am not looking for more amps - I want to reduce my stock a little. I am probably OK for effects. I *might* be interested in a nice PJ bass, or an Epi Vintage pro Thunderbird (already have an older pro), but I can be a little fussy about what I like, so please don't be offended if I am not excited by whatever you offer. Paul.
  19. Did you get anything HJ? I can also vouch for the Felix. While it may be a lot for a pre, if you already have a decent rig that can go neutral it will probably be less cost than a dedicated amp. I really like it because both the pickups I have on the bass need power, and it can power both differently. Paul.
