  1. Always fancied a 4001 but the agricultural truss rod system has always put me off.
  2. Think I bought a silver one of these used a couple of years back for £150, it was dirty but mint but didn't work for me so I sold it on for the same as I bought it iirc. I do get the 'rare' colour thing though, it really went against the 'Yorkshire' ethic when I paid well over the odds for a used Mikey Way Mustang about 3 years back (a good £100-125 over the new price) but they were like rocking horse poo and I wanted one for the 'Glam' look.
  3. When I had mine refinished it was the same. The tech guy had a helluva job removing the paint, there were still tiny flecks in the grain but he’d already taken some meat off the neck and taking more wouldn’t have been sensible
  4. If you can get the US Sterling SUB pick one up; it's basically a 3EQ US Stingray SUB with the same pickup and a Jazz neck.
  5. I had a 2004 US Sterling Sub and it was definitely wired in series. I had the chance to compare it with a US 2013 Sterling and the sound was pretty much like the series setting; lots of punch. It didn't have the top end of the 2013 though so I'm assuming it had alnico rather than ceramic pups.
  6. Pricing on these generally sits around £500-550 for one in good condition which is a steal as the full fat EBBM Rays are now generally around the £1000 mark for one in good condition.
  7. My personal fave is a 2EQ EBMM Stingray, not easy to find one under 9lb though. Should be able to find a used one around £1000.
  8. Copper for me, looks lush
  9. Very nice Nick, now that my year of self-imposed zero spend on bass related stuff is at an end this is the sort of thing I'd be looking at. Unfortunately other bases will have to exit the building to make room.
  10. We’ve taken a few but I’m not confident that any this side of April will happen
  11. Get a second one - great combination.
  12. Still not a single piece of bass related stuff this year.....I very nearly gave in on the gold sparkle Maranello in the FS section but I managed to tough it out
  13. Nope, useless with lyrics
  14. I've had 2002 MIJ and currently have a JMJ. Of the 2 I prefer the JMJ, the thicker neck and fuller sound take it up a notch. I'm also on the side of the single split coil pickup and 'proper' Mustang style bridge.....otherwise it's not a Mustang.
  15. Spent a fair bit of time around Toronto, Hamilton, Mississauga during my Steelmaking technical days, can be gray and grim in winter. Hope things brighten up for you mate.
  16. I have to resort to The Yorkshire adage - it’ll be reeet. Stay well Rich.
  17. We’ll get through it Pete, it’s just as I get SAD, the last few years of playing with the Glam band has pretty much staved it off. I think this year I’m not looking forward to Christmas but to Spring. Stay safe mate.
  18. You nearly had me there, I thought you meant it 😂
  19. I've coped reasonably well through the year so far with lockdown, Tier 3 etc, cancelling about 40 gigs and only meeting up with the band 3 times since March but I'm finding December hard. As a 70s Glam act we put on a XMas show with lots of cheesy songs and props and I really look forward to the 4 week period each year. With this being in abeyance this year it's crept up on me and the glumness has hit. Anyone else finding the lack of XMas giggage hard to take?
  20. I have this one sat at home Dave but rarely use it with the Glam band.....it’s the only bass I use that people have tried to nick between spots 😂
  21. Had the neck vintage gloss finished by Jon last year. As it was a one piece maple it had to be refretted. He did a great job on it, didn’t go original but went for stainless as I prefer them on my PDN Ray.
  22. Can't comment on file source, but for learning songs I generally use Amplitube if I wish to slow it down to learn on iPad. Free download, or at least it was.
  23. Sandberg really are the masters of relicing
  24. When I think back through the years I think the vast majority of the gigs I've played have been played on a 90s Mex Squier Jazz and more recently, an Indonesian Squire Mustang. I love my EBMMs and Rick but they aren't the go to basses for gigs. Ironically, I once lost out on an audition because I turned up with a Status bass and it wasn't right for the 'MOD' band......
  25. True that, you get a feel for the difference in the Sterling bass. I love the series sound on the Sterling.
