Rough saddle height screws, any solutions?
Thunderbird replied to neilb's topic in Repairs and Technical
2010 US Std Jazz, has the newer Hi mass bridge. The screws sit proud of the barrels and shred my right hand whilst playing. Im looking at ordering some shorter ones that would sit "inside" the barrel rather than poke out at the top. Could some kind person let me know what diameter these are. Im looking at getting ones that are 8mm long. Also, do the thread pitches vary? Any idea where I can get such items? Thanks neil
Can you not rub them down with a small bit of emery paper or something? -
new pickups installed = seriously low output
Thunderbird replied to mr pablo's topic in Repairs and Technical
Right wee update, I was gonna just bite the bullet and put it in to my local shop to get looked at, but I forgot to lift the bass this morning so I gave the above a go as my mate hasn't had the time to come round with the stuff. So armed with some extra wire and leccy tape I went to work........ Success! we have sound and its not quiet either! Gave both pickups a try individually and together, happy days at least the pickups aren't duff I might just wire the pups straight to the jack after all if I can remember how to solder
Why not get Kiogon to make you a solderless loom up? there good at will save you no end of messing about -
Nice Bass I listened to the sound clip and it sounds very Indian inspired to me I liked it wasnt so sure about the "ravey" bit though sorry. Just to think 12 months ago I would of just turned it off after a few seconds and said well that is s--t but when you play an instrument seriously you tend to appreciate all kinds of music good work mate
I replaced the Duncan Designed ones in my VM Squier P-bass with Toneriders - much better now, they are good quality and have more punch. Recommended.
Thanks for the reply I think I am gonna get me some then or maybe wait for Father Christmas to bring me some hehe
Thanks. Plenty of other people seem to be selling stuff though. There are even Foderas and Wals getting bought! So there is clearly some cash around...
I said that on another thread I think it is only the real top end gear going or the really cheap stuff there does not seem to be much of a market for the stuff in the middle or maybe no one wants our basses boohooo joking aside I think the market will pick up soon
OK, all local trade offers and options have fallen through or been withdrawn I'm not sure what the problem is with selling Spectors at the moment, as they really are top quality basses. Maybe a bit of the Warwick syndrome? There seem to be a lot currently for sale but not shifting, whereas people are queueing up to buy Fender Jazzes?! I probably won't be bumping this bass any more, but will leave the thread up in case of any genuine interest, but I am rather sick of people who make offers and then simply stop communicating!! "I want to buy your bass -will you ship it to Greece/Ireland/Germany...?" "Yes of course I will, at your expense" Then silence.......
I know how you feel mate there has been alot of time wasting d--kheads on here recently but I bet we aint the only ones it is happening too though anyhow GLWTS mate

Mute switch Pedal/Circuit breaker cable
Thunderbird replied to Thunderbird's topic in Accessories and Misc
Have you got a tuner pedal? If so it most likely mutes the output when you tune.
yes I have a TU-2 on my board -
I was just wondering which was better to have for silent bass changeovers a mute pedal or a circuit breaker cable? I like the idea of both so what is out there guys that is worth looking at? I have only really seen murder one mute pedals or Planet waves circuit breaker cables. and to be honest I have never bothered with them before so I am not really sure what other brands or models are worth looking at.
-
I always use the wide Levys or Planet waves straps and find them really good and they can be picked up for £20-£30 depending what style and width you have

Death of the pub, interesting read
Thunderbird replied to skidder652003's topic in General Discussion
I only really go to a pub if there is a band on I want to see but other than that I do not go in to pubs as I have to travel into town and not being able to drive it is a taxi job and that costs alot mind you if I am honest I have not been in a pub for about 2 years and I only drink alcohol at Christmas in small quantity's I dread to think how much a pint is nowadays. I do like the small country pubs in the summer as they have a good atmosphere I don't really like weatherspoon type pubs as I think they are what I would call Mcdonalds pubs lol -
I have been looking around at pickups and have seen some Toneriders and they look like they are the kind of thing I am after so has anyone on here used them? or know if they are any good?
Nice, the kind of relic I'd go for. A 50 year old bass that has been lovingly looked after, not dragged along behind a car.
I think its only about 3 years old it was made in 2010 I had to re-read it I thought it was 1964 also....anyhow nice bass GLWTS -
