We use a pair of EV zlx12p. Sound great and loud enough for pub gigs. Also use alto Ts212 as monitors and FOH backup

Ive played nearly 70 gigs with my current band and my wife has been to 2 of them. Partly because we have kids and limited babysitters and partly because she hates out genre of music. Every morning after a gig the first thing she asks me is how many women were at out gig las night.

Yes ive seen Neil Diamond several times and he always plays it reggae style now. Strangley The monkees 'Im a believer' which he wrote, he now plays as a ballad and it sounds great.

I think all of the vintage modified precision basses have gone out of production now. I have a standard squier VM p bass i got off here which is great but according to web site they only do VM in jazz, PJ and fretless now.

Heads up for anyone that frequents this shop that they have just increased size of the whole shop and therefore considerably increased their selection of basses in store. The old shop is still there for acoustic guitars but they have opened a new premises a few yards away for electrics. I was in there this morning and was very impressed by the selection of basses. Really friendly staff too without being pushy.

I am still very puzzled as to why the vintage model shown earlier in the thread is still not showing on the epiphone web site under news or new products. Surely it would have been announced by now! I am planning a new purchase in the summer and this was high on my list of ones to try.

We do a lot of Jam songs and Bruce Foxton is a master at singing backing vocals over walking bass lines. Some i can do but some i will just revert to the root notes while i sing and back to the correct bassline inbetween

Would have to agree with you on Geezer. I was listening to bands in late 70s early 80s without much interest in bass. Then i heard sabbaths first album and his sound and playing really hit me. May not be the most technical but his sound got me hooked on playing bass. Its a shame that i think that bass sound and style he had on first 3 or 4 albums disappeared on albums after that.

Another happy VM jazz user here. Its my main bass, incredibly light and good build quality. I have never been influenced by name badges and peer pressure so I have no issues with only playing Squiers. In the past if ive had cash free ive played a MIM with a view to buy but never seen any improvement on the Squier VM. Ive also just bought a VM Precision and again cannot fault it at all.

Yes as above the way you are doing it is fine. If your amp has two speaker outputs then connect one speaker to each but more and more amps only have one output. As mentioned above i am assuming your amp is probably 4ohm so you need to make sure your speakers are 8ohm each otherwise you will run into trouble.

As you know i have the same battle. Sometimes i think i should have kept my tony butler but it was never getting played. I now have a vintage modified precision but still use the jazz at every gig because i prefer the feel and the tone. Just bought an SPB3 to try on my precision to hopefully convince me to use it more.

Just bought some pickups off Mike. Probably quickest transaction in BC history. I spotted them as soon as he put them on. Paid posted and received within 36 hrs. Great to deal with.

IIRC she joined the band because of her boyfriend and didn’t play bass. She only took it up as that was the only vacant role. I think they all looked to David as a strict headmaster rather than a band mate. Nonetheless she became a great bass player and musician
