1. Rebel Rebel is the perfect way to be noticed as a bass player. We play it at every gig. Guitarist starts the song with the recognisable riff and a few heads nod. Drums kick in and a few more heads start to nod. i then do the run down on the bass and belt out the D note and the crowd really react.
2. Bonus of going active is if one dies you still have the other one to get you through the night
3. I find some comments on these sort of topics bizarre. To measure a bass players worth on their supposed technical ability is very narrow minded. A good bass player plays to suit the genre and style the band wants to achieve. There are so many factors that make up a 'Good' bass player, even including how they look and perform on stage. Although I'm not a huge fan, to suggest that U2 are talentless is ridiculous.
4. Zoom B1ON I use for this application as you can plug a phone in too. You also get lots of fairly decent effects looper and drum machine. All for around £40.
5. I'd work on the basis that most venues have no idea what constitutues a band or a duo so best to explain. Our local pub always puts signs up saying LIVE BAND tonight only to find when we get there it's a duo playing to backing tracks. We also turned up at a gig once and when the drummer starting taking his kit in the landlord came running over to say he didn't realise we had a drummer and was worried we would be too loud. This was despite him booking us through our Facebook page clearly showing us with a drummer.
6. Great Thanks. That's my project for this weekend 😀
7. Yep. Kit seems a bit expensive. I already have the plate which I can drill holes in so may see if I can pick up the aerial extension leads elsewhere.
8.
The rack mount hardware should have been included along with extension cables. This is the kit, if you don't have one. You can see the cut outs in the blanking plate for mounting the two antennae in the front of the rack beside the unit.
Great that answers my question. Thanks !
9.
Are the aerials fixed in your setup? What is your system?
It's one of these I picked up off eBay http://www.audio-technica.com/cms/wls_systems/6bc6d93a774d761d/index.html I can get the rack ears to mount it in the rack and the aerials once connected can be angled in any direction. The shallowest rack I've seen would mean they would have to lie flat
10. May be a daft question but I have a wireless Mic and I want to house the receiver in a 2U rack case along with a media player. The depth of the receiver is only 150mm and the shallowest racks I can find are 250mm front to back. The aerials on the receiver are on the back of the unit and I assume need to be upright when connected. (All pics I have seen show the aerial pointing up) Therefore there isn't a rack case short enough to allow the aerials to point upwards when fitted into the rack. Is it okay to have the aerials lying horizontal out of the back of the case or do I need to try and find a shorter case?

12. Local Methodist church hall 1986 Age 14 Westone thunder Carlsbro cobra Played a mixture of ozzy osborne motley crue and iron maiden songs. We sounded dreadful and looked ridiculous but I loved every minute.
13. Mine arrived yesterday. Seems to work fine. Can't be bad for £2
14. When i used to do a neil diamond tribute many moons ago i was always surprised how many couples would get up and do a slow dance together when i sang love on the rocks!
15. Finally got round to watching this and it is a great but emotional film. Well worth a watch
16. Apparently it all started when someone asked him if he used a music stand 😂
17. I had two LH500s and loved them. Very simple eq but with a lovely tone and so much power. I don't think they are as heavy as people make out. Unfortunately with the birth of class D amps everything else feels heavy. But the LH500 is not as heavy as others I've had. Only reason I moved them on was size rather than weight. I store the whole PA in my house and my current MB500s fit in my guitar case with my basses.
18.
Stop trying to cheap out and go onto Thomann's site. That'll help desensitise you with regards to the costs of proper LED stage lighting.
I already use ADJ par cans that are very bright and cost quite a bit for main spots. As I indicated above I was wondering if these may be a good option for a back wall wash
19. They look great Dad. Wired altogether and you have a wash big enough for any stage for less than £30 plus power supply.
20. I've had an LH500, HA3000, 410XL and 115 and all very good. Especially liked the LH500 for its volume and EQ simplicity. Moved them all on only for weight reasons. I was looking forward to the TX600 coming out but as has already been mentioned it's way underpowered so I opted for a GK MB500 instead.
21. I've been reading up on LED colour changing light bulbs that fit into a traditional socket like the ones here Auraglow 10 W Remote Control Colour Changing LED Light Bulb B22 Super Bright Warm White Dimmable Version – 2nd Generation https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CSTU7C2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ghlJzbXPXBHFS I have plenty of old desk and floor lamps around that these would fit into and am thinking these would make a cheap way to light a stage. Not sure they are bright enough for FOH spotlights but I'm thinking a couple on floor behind amps as a back wall wash. Apparently one remote control can control more than one light which is cool. Anyone used them in band or at home?
22. Exchange rate is killing everything at the moment. I was just about to buy another monitor to pair with our other one and it's gone up £50 from the same shop since we bought the last one 5 months ago.
23. Some great tips thanks. Will look at the chord tones too. I think the most satisfying thing about learning all the modes to a particular key is being able to play all over the fretboard from the first up to the 17th fret covering all strings.
24. I am a self taught bassist/guitarist. Spent my youth playing in originals bands and after a long break i am now in my 40s playing in a covers band. In all bands I've never needed to learn much theory and especially now I just learn the bassline to the song we are covering. Kids are a bit older now and wife is always out so I decided to go back to basics and learn a load of scales, dorian, locrian etc Wow...what a revelation. I have never enjoyed playing bass this much and can hardly put it down. Stick my earphones into my amp linked up to you tube for some jamming backing tracks in a chosen key and I'm in heaven. Noodling for hours!! Anyone else gone back to learning scales many years after picking up the bass?
